  1. That isn't it (for a start the one I'm talking about is set in Iraq). There's one of the 60s chevy trucks in the opening scene on the street, if that helps.
  2. I guess this is a video rather than a mod, but it was made using OFP and some mods for it. It uses a Muse song that includes the lyrics "Revenge will come" and was posted on Youtube (searching there was fruitless). The story of the video revolves around a pair of Iraqis that get caught up in the war. One of them dies in crossfire between US Marines and Iraqi combatants. The other vows to seek revenge, joins an armed group of some kind, gets his car packed with explosives and blows up a US checkpoint suicide bomb stylee (cue slow motion and multiple angles). Hopefully you're still reading and can help me find the video Thanks for any help. Edit: sorry mods, wrong section, feel free to delete.

  4. No, don't get too excited - this is an idea. However on my own it will take a long time to make, so I was wondering if a more experienced map-maker would care to join me on such a project. Feel free to drop me ideas though.
  5. Indeed, the T-55 was the most common tank in the Russian arsenal at the time.
  6. Not sure how well this will work on my crap rig: 1.8Ghz Pentium 4, 1GB RAM, Radeon 7500
  7. Yeah, tell me about it, and now the west's hardware is joining them...
  8. If nobody's done a D-30 howitzer, I'll look into that as well...
  9. Thanks for the link. I was hoping to do a large section of Eastern Afghanistan including the cities of Kabul, Bagraam and Jalallabad, with some smaller towns in between, and possibly part of the Pakistani border. Since I mention that, perhaps I should have a go at making some Afghan military units...

    Scripting challenges

Hes basically saying we should create a scripting resource for newbies, with scripts such as the above example being requestable.

    OFP videography

Read what I just posted above. Granted, it wasnt necessarily a sensible course of action, but who thinks rationally when invading soldiers shoot their loved one and they see it totally ignored by everyone? Like I said before, try to look at it from the character's point of view.

    OFP videography

Perhaps, but you could also extrapolate this from the video: The guy wasnt a soldier, just an average civilian. Business was slow (ok I'm guessing here) and he had difficulty supporting himself and his wife. Driving the van with explosives into the checkpoint\convoy would have been "easier" than fighting a prolonged guerilla war against the US forces. Edit: Also, revenge killings are commonplace in Iraq.

    OFP videography

Try looking at things from the Iraqis' perspective for a change.

    OFP videography

Play it in WinDVD and use its capture function.

    OFP videography

Yeah, must be (never been to Iran so I wouldn't know) but definately in Saudi Arabia women can't drive. But lets get back ontopic . For some reason this video hasnt gotten much attention on other ofp sites...

    OFP videography

I know...what was it captured with? Perhaps I could re-encode it...

    OFP videography

You didnt notice the horribly low resolution? Thats the main gripe I have...and theres some lag which doesnt appear to be intended, perhaps spectre should remake it on a faster PC Other than that - excellent. Edit: about the woman driving, i've seen female cab drivers in Tehran Iran is different?
  19. There are plenty of East\Russian addons (whether it be tanks, aircraft, infantry etc) but I havent seen any mod\campaign covering the chechnyan conflict back in the 90s (or for that matter, the 80s Afghan conflict). I may be mistaken - in which case do point me to the mod makers' site as I would like to contribute.

    Chechnyan conflict mod?

Missions are easy, campaigns require a little more work (but thanks to some easy editing tools arent as hard as they could be). Unfortunately I dont have the addons on my PC right now (and I'd have to dig through a lot of backup CDs\DVDs to find them - assuming I downloaded them previously).

    Chechnyan conflict mod?

I'm not trying to get into the politics of the situation either - simply recreating the conflict realistically, and that includes what each side did and said.

    Chechnyan conflict mod?

Sorry about that, link fixed. Its down Edit: Finally got a mirror, but its Filefront

    Chechnyan conflict mod?

A long time ago the same guy finished the map and released it, which went even by even more unnoticed. The map is Very well made, regardless of the political stance of its maker, it definately deserves checking out. Flashpointfiles is the only site which still maintains a mirror for it. Dead link. I have it somewhere, just I'd have to individually check dozens of my CDs and DVDs to find it...

    The Iraq thread 4

Before Fallujah was besieged, there were estimated to be 4,000 resistance fighters - after word of the events in Fallujah spread, the numbers multiplied to over 100,000. Source that. http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraq_insurgency.htm
