    Quad SLI (Two Questions)

Well, I did it. I dropped 500 bucks on an XFX GTX295, so now I have quad SLI. And guess what: ARMA II still runs not-so great! Amazing. Nazul: I will try turning of HT in the BIOS right now dogz: I use the 3 x WD 2TB Greens for storage and video editing. I have ARMA II installed on a SSD Raid 0 setup. 2 x Corsair P128 SSDs to be exact. NO stuttering due to HDs, thats for sure. I have my other games installed on a 300 GB Velociraptor. Edit: Was wondering about overloading my 800 watt PSU with 2 x GTX295s and 4 mechnical harddrives, but this little thing only estimated I need 634 watts!:!: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp Edit: Tested with HT disabled in the BIOS. No improvements. Everything I read when I google Windows 7 and Hyper Threading actually says Windows 7 is optimized for Hyperthreading and benefits greatly from it blah blah blach. So I turned it back on. Overclocked the CPU to 4.2 (up from 4.06) and will test that now.

    Quad SLI (Two Questions)

Just finished building this system yesterday. When I originally made this post, I was playing with an X48 mobo, QX9770, 8gb of ram, and a GTX295. Now, Im running the new system (kept the old video card in it though). And I STILL get choppy frame rates at times in ARMAII. Thats why Im still thinking of adding a 2nd GTX295. Unsure if that will help though. Thanks guys

    Quad SLI (Two Questions)

I already have one GTX295 (see sig), so the investment would only be for one additional card. Still thinking about it. Building my new i7 system tomorrow to see how Arma II plays on it.

    GTX 295 Texture Loss

I have had the same problem all the time. Its a verry common problem for people with high end machines. If you search around you'll see that tons of people with high end machines have the white/missing/black/flashing textures. People use various fixes. -maxmem=xxxx, -winxp, limiting ram to 7GB using msconfig, etc Im shelving the game for about a month to see if new nvidia drivers and or a 1.04 patch from BIS help

    Quad SLI (Two Questions)

Not sure what you mean by mixed 260 drivers. The card I would add (if I were to do this) would be another 295GTX, though it would be a slightly different model. Are you saying the new 295GTXs have the new 260s in them? Thanks

    Quad SLI (Two Questions)

Thanks for the info guys. The question was somewhat academic (though I have been known to waste my money to the point I'd actually try something like this). I am just curious if you can do it with 2 different brands, and 2 slightly different clock speeds, of 295GTXs. Think about it.

Arma II is going on the shelf...

Dude, people (ME included) are having issues with FAR more than window textures flickering static. Entire forests and buildings flicker black and white is a no-go issue. The game is unplayable for many with high end hardware. People aren't trying to run the game with everything on high. After the install of Windows 7 64, it played lousy for me with everything on Normal on my current system. However, it played perfectly fine on my Vista 64 install that was about 2 years old, though I have no idea why it would not play fine when I reinstalled Vista 64 after the Windows 7 failed experiment. Waiting for 1.04 and/or Nvidia drivers before I reinstall this game.

Arma II is going on the shelf...

I dont know WTF happend with my Arma II install. I had the game running great, no tweaks at all on a quite high end machine (QX9770 @4.0ghz, 8GB ram, GTX295, Vista 64 Bit.) Didnt do squat except install the game, the 1. patch, and everything was sweet. So then, OPPS, I decided to try out Windows 78 64 bit. Installed ARMA II, the 1.2 patch, and BOOM, game played terrible. I was a victim of the dreaded flashing white and/or black blocky textures. I blamed it in on Win 7, so I reinstalled Vista 64. And guess what? The problem remained ! FLashing white, missing, and black blocky textures. Patch 1.3 came out, and I was hoping that would fix the problem. Did it? NOPE, still screwed up textures. Game is on the shelf for me too until 1.4 patch and/or some new drivers from nvidia.
  9. Blueshift: the -openal has no effect on my problems. Still get black, blocky textures, white runways, etc. the -winxp command does help though, but seems to mess up the "whites" in the game (too bright) Waiting for a patch. I mean seriously, 8GB of ram is not that uncommon now days!
  10. Yes, the issue is with having 8GB of ram. but Im not going to take out 4GB just to play this game :-) The -winxp command mostly solves the problem, though for some reason, the "whites" in the game are too bright and sorta seem to glow (when I use this command)
  11. Well I'll try it out! Cant be any worse than things currently are with ARMA II!

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Ollem: What is the 8 to 7GB msconfig trick? That sounds like it might be worth trying until a fix comes out. Thanks in advance.

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

Bulldogs: Thankx for the info. I had post processing set to Very High, and was playing fine (agian, under Vista 64). I guess I will have to play the game with the -winxp line, until nvidia and/or BIS fix this issue. (Im not removing 4gb of ram to play this! :-) Edit: The "-winxp" command seems to not help with the super bright whites. For example, anything white gets a bright, halo, type glow around it. Anthony: Your fix sort of works for me. Its a one time fix, as in, you have to go thru the process each time you load the game. Not workable.

    ArmA2 8GB RAM Problem

To all: I was playing the game fine on my fairly high end system (see sig) under Vista 64. I did a clean install to Windows 7 64 and the newest nvidia drivers, I get the problem you guys are having (missing textures, flashing white windows, etc). I tried the -winxp fix and the game now works fine. BUT, what does this fix do? Is the the same as "disabling" 4 GB of ram?? I dont want my performance to suffer by using this fix. Anthony, maybe I will try your suggestion and see if that works (and not use the -winxp flag)
  15. Didnt work for me. Ran perfect on my system (see sig) with Vista 64. Switched to Windows 7 (bld 7600) via an upgrade, and got the dreaded "flashing white/missing textures bug". So, I wiped my boot drive, and installed a clean copy of 7600, along with the latest (190) nvidia drivers, and boom, SAME thing. I can now not get rid of the flashing white missing textures problem.
  16. Did anyone encounter the issue of missing, and/or flickering white and/or sometimes static (like on a bad TV) textures? I was playing the game just fine on my high end system (see sig) on Vista 64. Then yesterday, I didnt change anything, but felt like giving a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit a shot. Now, I cant play the game at all, I get the constant white and/or missing textures all over the place. Has anyone fixed this? Im running the latest nvidia drivers of course. Edit: the -winxp fix partially worked for me, though apparently you lose some graphical glitz when you use this. Also, the "whites" are still far too bright (for example, in the begniing of the campaign, when u are on the carrier, the white on the red cones and uniforms causes a huge halo glare)
  17. I am having the same problems, but only after I switched to Windows 7 ARMA II ran perfectly on my system with Windows Vista 64 and a GTX295. I upgraded to Windows 7, and boom, the game is slow as hell (texture lag) and tons of things flicker white and/or static (like on a TV). For example, on the menu screen, when do the pass over the carrier, all the windows on the V-22 flicker static, and the harriers have no texture. I am running the latest nvidia drivers. Snowwhite: I cant find a "mip map" setting at all in the nvidia control panel. Has anyone else fixed this problem? What is -openal? Thanks guys

Vista Ultimate X64 with loads of Ram

To answer the original question (not sure if it has been answered yet and didnt want to read a bunch of posts...) YES. I run ARMA on my system: Asus Rampage Formula X48, Intel QX9770 o'c to 4.0, Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, Cooler Master Stacker 830 case, 8 GB Geil EVO One DDR2 PC2-8500 @1066, EVGA 9800GX2 Factory OverClocked KO, X-Fi Platinum, X3 800 watt PSU, 20" Samsung 215TW 1680 x 1050, 2 x Segate 500GB Baracuda ES in Raid 0, 1 x Segate 750GB Barracuda ES, Samsung 1TB Spinpont F1, Vista Ultimate 64 bit. It loads and plays just fine with 8GB ram and Vista 64 (thanks to the new patch). Before, it would not load with anything greater than 3072GB (the black load screen problem). So, I quit playing it for a long time. Recently I noticed a new patch, 1.14, and figured I'd give it another shots. Now the game loads and plays great with all 8GB.
  19. I have Queens Gambit installed, and thus have Armed Assault patched to 1.08 (1.08 patch seems to come with the install of Queens Gambit). I just played through the Armed Assault campaign (never played the game before 1.08 was released). Â I thought it was totally awesome. Â Much better than I remember the original Flashpoint 1985 campaign being. Now, I just started playing the Royal Flush campaign. Â I am not enjoying it at all. Â Im on an early mission where I have to drive some crappy 4 x 4 through the woods to a "concentration camp" and a "labor camp", then call in some transport trucks to pick up the prisioners. Â These missions do not seem enjoyable what so ever. And the whole buying weapons thing from Dealers. Â Sound fun in theory, like stockpiling weapons in the old Resistance game. Â But, in practice, I don't like it at all, just like I tought it never worked well in Resistance. Â If, because of a save game bug, you have to hit "revert", it seems you lost everything you bought in the previous mission, and start off with some default stuff. And, where do you "put" weapons you find in the field to use them on the future missions? In a truck that may or may not be yours in the next mission? I don't have any documentation to Queens Gambit, maybe that's my big problem with the weapons thing. Â Again, I just dont find Royal Flush fun at all. Â Anyone else feel this way? Â I just swtiched to Rahmadi. Â Played trough first mission, assault the beach. Â Seems fun so far. Thoughts?

    Evolution - Single Player

Any news on a newer version? Â One that might contain a few more tweaks (and maybe with a choice of PBOs that one could install, one with the default max of 12 guys, and maybe another with 18 or so) Great mod by the way. ANy reason it would not work with some aftermarket mods? Â Im playing with Q11's Recoil Mod, SIX_Pack1 Tracers, and Drugs Vegitation Fix. I have some problems with the tracers. Â Some times they work, some times they do not (though they always worked in the stock Armed Assault campaing) Thanks again for all the hard work.

    Evolution - Single Player

Anyone able to uploade (rapidshare.com) a file we can just drag and drop into our folder to solve the increase squad member problem? I'm PBO challenged and really dont have the time to screw with that. Id like a file that would allow 20 squad members, in lieu of the 12. Maybe an increase of one guy per level or something like that. So you go, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, or something. I dont think I need to use all 20, but my base has been attacked twice while my 6 or 8 guys (rank Captain now) were out on a mission with me. They attached once with a UAZ and a machine gun, and then again with just a squad of 4 men. Not sure if they actually shot any of the "blue" guards in the POW camp (thats where they attacked). Now that it seems I have to leave a Striker at the POW gate, I need a few more guys. Thanks, if anyone has done this already. And great mod. Tons o fun.

    XAM 1.3:05 Released !

What happened to the default, right mouse click, "Zoom"? Doesnt seem to work now that Im playing XAM I right click, and it zooms in when Im using rifle optics, but does not work without that. (It used to w/o the mod) Also, when looking at a unit from external view, the zoom toggle also does not seem to work. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks Great mod by the way. Looking forward to 1.4 with patched 1.09 big time!!

    ArmA is just ... awesome!

Dont dump on COD4 too much. It was an awesome game. And, it played fine, from start to finish, (no bugs), on the original, Unpatched version. I'm not sure whats new in v1.3, as I completed the game as it shipped out of the box. COD4 is just a different game from ArmA. Both have their + and - I liked both games, though for different reasons. However, I'd say due to the highly scripted nature of COD4, its replay value is much much lower than ArmA.
