    Can't seem to get island anim folders from user made islands to be recognized when I place them in the Addons folder. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not though. Also, (Not A BIS problem), Does anyone know how to correct the FDF executable to call CWA rather than Flashpoint Resistance?

    Once the judges have tested and scored the missions that meet all requirements, we will upload them to our missions database for all to enjoy. Each title will have the Acronym, MEC added to it to identify it, as we have done in the past.

    Of course you can refuse the prizes but because of shipping cost, we won't be splitting the prizes. If you decide that you do not want the prize after winning one, just say so and the prizes will be shipped to the next higher score in line. You will of course retain your ranking as that prize winner. But you could always gift the prize to a friend to recruit them into the Armaverse too. Cinema is certainly worth learning. It improves your projects a great deal more. As long as the mission can be played and completed in SP, you may submit however you like. You can have a story as simple as...Cookie Monster has the rest of the cast held at gunpoint in front of the Deli until someone returns his bag of chocolate chip cookies. It's up to us to go in and take him down without killing him. (Although I have often wondered what color puppet blood was) It doesn't take much to provide a story and have the mission make sense. But how much effort will determine the score.

    Not only. We're asking that authors submit a complete package. That includes some sort of explanation for why the mission is taking place. It's nothing that author's shouldn't be doing already with any mission they make. You wouldn't just throw units on a map, place down opposition, an end trigger and export it. No you would want it to make sense for others to understand it well enough to not only play it but enjoy it.

    It's not the one click convenience. It's not the amount of addons required. I download large mods quite often to test a single mission for folks who submit betas at OFPEC. I have downloaded and installed ACE for Arma and Arma2(once) but don't care for the constant updating which potentially breaks projects that have been finalized and added to the archives. I don't debate the awesome improvements that the mod brings to the game but it also changes other things that some folks don't care for. I didn't post to hijack his thread on a mod debate; I was merely expressing my interest in an ACE free version just in case he was considering investing effort in building without it.

    It saddens me to see great efforts ruined by the requirements of such heavy mods. I'll add my vote for a non ACE build. Just inserting my two cents.

    Arma: Cold War Assault

    So, the patch requires an original CD Key, installs into the Bohemia Interactive directory rather than the Codemasters and changes the Main Menu screen. Other than that, you can expect only the fixes and additions in the Readme. All of your mods and other content will have to be manually moved to the new directory, including the Redhammer campaign.(It IS still compatible right?) As much as I have spoken and typed the words Operation Flashpoint, Flashpoint, or OFP over the years, it will be difficult getting use to abandoning them to the past.

    A great feature that I would love to see BIS introduce now would be the ability to create islands with subterranean levels.

    I think you guys are off on that location. It may resemble it but they would not take a photo of a fork in the road if there was no fork in the road. In game, there is only one road and it is a primary road(paved). In the photo, it is two secondary roads(gravel and/or dirt). I've checked all intersecting secondaries on Chernarus and nothing resembles that photo with enough similarity to draw any conclusions. It could be that they are releasing hints now and will continue to do so until they have completed a new update for the Arma2 game in which they could have made changes to the land to store that first hint. Who knows? It could be the beginning of a scavenger hunt across BIS islands. Or it could be one of the dev's having fun with a bunch of over eager junkies.:eek:

    What's next after Arrowhead?

    I'd like to see another expansion pack compatible with Arma2 that not only improves features in Arma2 and OA but introduces new ones like...swimming under water. Introduce more animations for climbing out of water and onto banks, rocks or boats. Climbing over walls, ledges or other medium sized obstacles. Animations for sliding feet first on your hip toward cover but remaining in squat stance similar to Americas Army 3. The South American Jungle with winding rivers and waterfalls sounds awesome. Of course the same terrain could be universal to Southeast Asia. I'd like to see The French Foreign Legion come into play as well as some African or South American Pirates. We could use some more water battles with various vessels to accompany them. And to put icing on the cake, Sharks, Dolphins, Whales, schools of fish(piranha included), Boa Constrictors, Pythons, Poisonous Spiders, Gorillas, Monkeys, Tigers. Essentially Mammals and Reptiles that actually pose a threat to players rather than just an obstacle.

    Is there a way of combining the two to get the best of both worlds? Voxel for solid, unmoving structures and ground and then Poly for animated models?

    Since this topic covers UI commands, Does anyone know how to actually customize the customize command under 0-9? It seems that someone could use it to activate a custom formation dialogue and begin writing their own formation scripts, or custom support options.
  21. Now you need to replace Cows with reindeer, little old ladies with Mrs. Claus, boars with little elves and prostitutes with female elves. And don't forget to port Deanos Beanos' snowball addon from Armed assault. There could be an assault on the north pole. Or maybe a special operation to steal "The List" or Santa's cocoa formula. You should also consider putting stains on the santa suits and beards.

    Oh yes, I know Dialogues are superior by far in the way of creativity. I was only offering something simple for a beginner. There is no way to control text display time on mission load since it remains until the mission is actually loaded which could be brief to very long, depending on the content. OnMissionLoad is while the mission loads, which is before the Init takes over. That's why it must be in the Description.ext. Functions? Awesomeness. I had not delved into functions yet and was hoping to learn more about them. Thanks for the mention pal, I'll certainly check it out.

    AZCoder is attempting to show you Dialogue creation and though you will certainly want to learn more about it, you don't actually need it to change the text at the loading of your mission. Open a new notepad document, insert the below text into it, changing the text to your choosing and save as Description.ext. Place the document into your mission folder and load your mission. OnloadMission = "Shapur e-Dalanper\n\nFriday June 8\n\n2012"; Use the forward slash n "\n" to create spacing. If you would like to learn more about cutscenes, check this link out. If this is not what you were looking for, perhaps you could provide some more detail so that we can help you better. Also, Black screens are not always needed to introduce your mission. Sometimes it helps to open with an establishing shot of the overall area accompanied by the title and or other data crucial to mission start.
