But the were a number of them in ST, eg the doctor in DS9, Siggid El Fadil as Julian Bashir.

It runs quite different for me. Invariably, the rest of my squad gets killed assaulting the first town (though sometimes they live long enough for the tanks to arrive and take them out. Then I get a message saying to try to get back to base. Doing that results in mission failure. If I take the UAZ to the tanks and LAW the crews before they get in their tanks, the mission doesn't end at all. Incidentally, one time I managed to get in one of the tanks after killing some crewmen. I found I was gunner on a tank that had an enemy driver! He drove around out of my control while I took shots at enemy tanks. Got them all then jumped out and took out the tank when it got jammed against a tree. Mission still didn't end!

I'm in two minds how to approach this as I use OFP as an escape and would rather not not deal with copyright in an OFP context. On the other hand, I've never made a mission or addon and have enjoyed those wonderful contributions by Toadlife, Winters and others and see a chance to contribute something to the community. The issue here is stupid, but perhaps this is useful. Winters basically understands the issue, but is not quite right. Copyright and trademarks are two different albeit related things. You also need to consider passing off and analagous statutory provisions. Copyright is the exclusive right (in countries which recognise those rights) to do certain things like reproduce, distribute, etc. It is not ownership in the sense you own your car. It relates to an original work, but that has evolved beyond books and musicto cover things like software. You cannot copyright a word, let alone own it. I don't think copyright has anything to do with this. A trademark is just that. It's a mark distinguishing goods or services. It may or may not contain a word, but the mark and the word are two different things. The BitLaw paper someone linked deals with this well. I don't see the breach, let alone a practical means to pursue Toadlife over it. Passing off I referred to in my last post. It would be ridiculous to claim Toadlife implied an association with whoever holds the mark. It's plainly a joke.

I'm a lawyer focusing on IT and hence copyright and trademarks, albeit in Australia (though these laws are largely international). As a thank you to Toadlife for doing the mission, I offer this gratis advice: 1. primary question is whether it's worth a fight. Of course, they need to ask the same question, making a case unlikely. 2. Winters is absolutely right. The trademark and the word in the trademark are two different things. You don't breach a trademark simply by using the word in the mark. 3. the other thing to avoid is implying an association with or endorsement by the holder of the mark. That invokes a number of laws and thats why a lot of other factors you've been discussing are relevant. Personally, I thinks it's ridiculous to suggest the mission does that. 4. a thing is not the law just because someone says it is.

So someone gives you a nice present and its not even your birthday. Do you: a. thank them and tell them how much you appreciate it? b. demand more presents? c. tell them it sucks? d. tell them they suck? Come on. That's an easy one. Thank you BAS for all the great quality mods over such a long time, including this one.

Yes its a shame. I tried to play it recently ofr hte first time and it looked great. Using 1.96, I got as far a scene where the scientists play you a movie of the Bad Boy in action and that movie never ended.

Retaliation campaign now available in English

@macguba. No problem. There wasn't a lot of planning to it though, just some quick thinking. I'm always on the lookout to steal vehicles, so usually on contact with a base quickly check the map to see what's blue and looking to be stolen. On the first pass, I saw the patrol boat was blue and figured the mission designer gave me an alternate route home. If he did that, perhaps the intent was I do it from the ground? On the second pass, knowing from the map I'd taken out the Vulcans, I started taking damage from at least 3 AA sources I couldn't see (turned out to be the 3 M2 gunners), so I bailed. Seemed the only option really. -

It really isn't that hard to get all the choppers in Night Flyer. I made a bee line for the next waypoint, but found Vulcans on the way. I headed back to the coast and followed the east and south coasts at 10m and found no resistance at all before reaching chopper island. In fact, I touched down at a few Russsian garrisons looking vainly for fuel. I hit the island over water from the south east and got in undetected, which lets you do one pass (which I used for a furious rocket strike) before the base alerts and the choppers launch. I came around for another pass and started taking fire from what I later learned were M2s. I ejected, ran for a bush and took stock. I'd taken out the Vulcans, an AA soldier and one chopper crewman, but all 6 choppers got up, so that was a poor strafing run, but all you really need to do is get the Vulcans. I took out the M2 gunners with my AKSU, the choppers (which circled pointlessly unable to see me I guess) with the AA missile and M2s and and sailed home in the patrol boat. This is my favourite campaign, except maybe CWC for sentimental reasons. Brilliant work. -
My first wife and I divorced largely because of computer game playing. My new wife likes them. Mostly plays Pharoah on her own, but plays OFP and a few others with me. Seems to me that the moral is - computer games aren't bad, but being married to someone on a different wavelength to you is.
