I don't blindly believe in the bogeyman. I had a nightlight as a kid so I could keep surveilance on my room to confirm that there was no bogeyman. (I'd obviously not considered what might happen while I was asleep) When ever I lost a tooth as a kid (and told my mom) she'd tell me to put it under my pillow for the tooth fairie, who always came. One time I decided to test the tooth fairie, and didn't tell anybody. Considering the volume of teeth lost daily, the tooth fairie would obviously have to preschedule her pickups. I left the tooth under the pillow everynight for a week. No money. I still have the tooth some ~dozen years later. I always suspected Mom and Dad were helping Santa, heck, Grandma and Grandpa openly bragged about. So one year my brothers and I launched a sting operation that stretched nearly half the year. We clandestinely copied every reciept and noted the shopping trips. We accounted for every present that year not counting mailed stuff from relatives, and we thought that was the coolest thing busting mom and dad. Somebody leaked though, and we've never been able to nail down all the receipts ever since then. My religion is my relationship between me and God, and that's it. When I shared the Good Word, the way I taught was exclusively focused on their own internal relationships. I was like the Snapon tools guy, come by your place and offer you tools for your own use. Of course, I'd argue that mine were better than the Mactools guy's stuff, but having proved them myself, thats how I could confidently offer what I had by challenging people to put it to the test themselves. All religions focus on the 'spiritual' development of the self. If it has made me a better person, why should you knock it? Do you want me to be a worse person? Do you want me to call you what I think of you? I don't because religion tells me that I have no right to impose on you or demean you, something that in your anti-religious state rationally are liberated of. Where the problems have come in is where various groups of all faiths have split from their beliefs, and sought to purge the world of the stain of infidels. The infidels sin against themselves, not you. Go mind your own business, and worship your God, even if it is yourself. The way I understand and believe, religion and faith are things that can not be compeled. Thus, even if Christ showed up and shook his fist in your face, you still have the liberty to decide what you are going to do about it, regardless of how many others are around and observing. It's your future, you make the most of it with your limited means, I'll make mine with my own.

The MD5 hashes of binarized ODOL's, the exported MLOD's, and the unchanged re-binarized ODOL's are unique. In WRPtool opening OFPW wrp's, saving in 4WVR, and then rebinarizing results in differing file sizes, and also re'ID'ing the wrp's objects. You could make a mission that does a getpos on a sample objectID, and if the getpos is 'wrong', you could skip to the mission end and thus 'lock' the mission. 'Fixed' versions would likely not see wide distribution. As there is a lot that goes into addon development in modeling, configing, scripting, and textures, there are lots of ways and places to hide little watermarks with the official TAG.

In echoing this idea, we could see hordes of localized versions of quality addons. But, a key part of getting permission also includes learning how things work. For example, obviously a danish UH60 would not need a US ARMY logo on it, but it may need other logos. Rather than everyone running amuck hacking and thrashing, how about there be organized research and coordination?

Drill sarge: 1) Are you BIS? If not, you can't say "IS" exclusively. This issue has been discussed repeatedly in many locked threads, and the "Recent developments..." thread in OT is a good compilation. 2) Good point, but this is where copyright and Codemaster's lawyers come in. I joined late, and I still love it. Hope you'll stick around.

I know no gnomes. I'm still confused about how baron presumes that God is inside my feeble mind. If that were true, then all his works would be limited to within my mind, meaning that Baron is only a figment of my imagination. *That* makes my head spin.

That was only a domestic issue, a liquidation of damaged property. If humans have no soul or other piece of external liability, and sub-humans are relegated to property assets, it's just a reduction of surplus inventory. From a logical rational point of view. As for increased dating issues, the bible hints that for the first biblically recorded 2000 years, lifespans approaching 1000 years were not uncommon, perhaps the norm. If we take a more modern 100 year life span, you could adjust that 2000 years to 20000 years. Or, you have to account for a radically different environmental conditions to maintain a ~2000 year period. Either way, the bible, the gilgamesh legend, and the Veda's among others deal with that by implying that the evidence would have been washed away in the Flood epic. But back to the general principle of foundational religious evaluation. The role of religion dogmatically is the study of the nature and purpose of the "Self" while science focuses on evaluating the world around us. These side trackings tend to add fuel to Baron's loose cannons. I think where a lot of the trouble gets started is at the joiner "..because...". Everyone can agree that discussing things civily is 'good', but as soon as I interject "-Because-", that implies that that the action is only in reaction to a foundation, either of concious choice based on applied experience or imprinted instruction.

More clarifications. I think of "light" as RF-modulated photonic radiation in the visible spectrum, and "Light" as spiritual essence / energy / the force / whatever name you understand the same thing by. In that sense, "Light" came before the organization of the stars, and before "light" from those stars reached the earths. Then again, as this earth is just a spek in eternity, it really doesn't work to fix a time period to a continuing process of creation. Via scientific telescopes we see light from stars 'born' bullions and bullions of years ago. That don't mean there aren't new ones today or tomorrow. Furthermore, epochal processes of organization in a different stasis can change the flow process. If pre-fall Eden were in a state of suspended stasis, you could put stuff there in any order you want, after you have Eden first though. As for delusional ramblings, you have not stated any qualifications to judge my experiences. Along with what Miles said elsewhere, there are real things that I have personally experienced that can not be evaluated via known scientific means, that are no less real. In one case, the scientific possiblity of an event was between march and mid-november of 2000. I was informed about it sometime between october and november of 1999. That is not possible according to your known and accepted toolset, but still happened. You deliberately ignored what I said regarding my personal view of faith. How many people refused to believe Columbus when he argued for a round earth? How many people condemned Gaelieo for daring to say the world was not the physical center of the spatial universe, according to the accepted theory of the day? While I believe that you are willfully ignorant of yourself and the 'whole' (as in complete) world around you, I can't compel you to do anything you don't want to. It's all up to you what you want to do.

I am so not a math major. I had a secondary process of confirmation that was bogus. I ended up getting 1000000010, because my process of evaluation was flawed. That don't mean that 10 * 10 does not = 100, nor is math bad either. It means I got to confirm my stuff better. Same with religion. Most of the alleged inconsitencies are actually misunderstandings based on false assumptions inserted after the fact, like the whole gnostic tradtion of patching things together, which by the way is mirrored in east asian religion's adoption / insertion of christianity.

Ok, it appears that there was some misunderstanding about my earlier example. When I mentioned that I 'know' 10 * 10 = 100, I'm referring to the equation a * b = c. This is process #1. Having counted from 1 to 100, I 'know' that there are 10 groups of 10 in 100. Based on this experience, I 'believe' that the formula is correct, and that (17 * 100) will equal 1700, even though I have not confirmed that that is the case via another process. The strength of this belief is such that I have the faith to trust my life to the engineering calculations that go into construction of airplanes and the like, even though I have not run the same calculations myself.@Denoir: A wonderful followon post, I really appreciate your clarity. A couple points though from my perspective, may not be shared by all. With religion, it is commonly believed that there are more senses than are currently scientifically evaluatable. My understanding is that the material recorded post-eden starts from ~6000 years before now. The creation I believe was 7 phases / epochs of unknown duration. The biggest block on this is the difficulties of translation and interprtation. I believe that you can only understand a passage if you have a measure of the same spirit in which it was given. Basiclly, if you believe God said it, but you don't understand it, ask Him and He'll explain it. That's only for personal application though... Here, I view two types of 'authority': 1) is authorization to act for and on behalf of a religious organization in the authorized capacity, and 2) the self-manifest 'omnipotent' 'authority' assigned to God. Again, I have a unique opinion of faith, that faith is not the blind belief in unsubstaniated theories, but rather the willingness to accept, believe, and act on what I have experienced. Now those experiences are not externally confirmable via known scientific methods, but that does not make those experiences any less real to me. @barron: I'd also echo speedydonkey, and thank nearly everyone for discussing this in a civil fashion. While I may view my own personal deep inner beliefs as radical fundamentalist from the macroview, those are my beliefs - independent from yours Baron. I choose my beliefs, and attacks on that are deliberate insults to my life's experiences, of which you are totally ignorant. While I believe your time would so much more effectively be spent 'helping' me with my alleged incapacities, the inhumanity of your demagogery is discouraging at best. The choice though ultimately is yours. The solution to the ambivelence I sense regarding the plethora of diverse religious organizations is that as there is clear history of progression, why shouldn't there be a pattern of degeneration? Gibbon's treatise is called "The decline and fall of the roman empire" after all. Bin Laden argues that modern Islam should go back to the days of the caliphate, and others argue that going back earlier would potentially disavow any later contrived justification for slaughter of innocents. Christ wasn't knocking Moses, he said those who sat in the seat of Moses were AWOL.

I'll take a stab at religion here. Religion is a philosophical study primarily focusing on the role and purpose of the self. It is a system, a framework of filters and tools of evaluation, like scientific equations, that is used to process and evaluate the whole nature of the self and it's relationship to presumed 'spiritual' or 'metaphysical' content, not presently measurable by reactive scientific processes. While religion touches on general public topics such as the development of the earth and space and social history, it generally focuses more on the 'why', rather than the 'how'. In fact, it often says that the 'how' is unattainable, or irrelevant. One of the core parts of religion is a supreme enlightened being, that is interested in the 'benefit' of humanity. Communication and relation between the 'self' and this 'God' is primarily personal and private. Religion also uses as a foundational principal individual liberty. While initially that may seem opposite of Islamic "submission" and eastern caste systems, remember that theocratical sharia and forced caste compliance is the societal implementation, not the individual belief. I believe that A and B are wrong, but that is my choice, not a statement forced upon me. For example, I know an practicing Islamic professor who feels that the Mormon leader is his prophet for today, as Mohammed was for the start of Islam. He is choosing to discover and express his self, using a framework of thought and logical evaluation built personally from various sources, for him to relate to and understand the world around him, and the 'best' path of personal development to guide his family on. As religion covers two primary sections, philosophical advancement and evaluation of the world around us, and the study of 'spiritual' or 'metaphysical' relationships and development, should we try to fork() the discussion there, or do you have some ideas how we can continue a unified progression?

Having counted 10 groups of 10, I personally 'know' that (10 x 10) = 100. Given the logic of that equation (=tool) I 'believe' that (17 x 10 x 10) = 1700, although I have not counted personally to 1700. Science does not declare the 'truth' that 10 x 10 = 100, science gives me the tool to discover for myself that using the science-defined tool of equations, I can learn independent 'truths'.

Pascal posed a little thought something like this: (i'm generalizing) I would also assume that the accepted humane approach to dealing with the presumed insane would be to help them and care for them, rather than beat them with the rod of presumed intellectual superiority. Then again, as your choice of a moral system is inherently self-centered, survival of the fittest is exclusive of peers. I prefer the company of peers in so-called ignorance than the inherent mono-pedestal of self-worshiping aggrandizment. Science is the discovery of knowledge via logical and physical tools as applied by the human intellect, iirc. Therefore is not your understanding of the ultimate power and enlightenment your ownself, in your current form? But wait... what if you learn something new tomorrow? Then you tomorrow is superior to you today. But as tomorrow does not yet exist to science and thus not evaluatable, your own idol is of an unknowable God.

AP article More AP This is London Reuters For those of you who have not spent spent time in the ME, go to the beach and tell the sand drifts where to blow. Then tell a camel where not to spit. Then you will begin to understand how to talk with people from that region. Negotiating is a whole different ball game. CIA overall level: 2.75~2.8.

The local redneck town I live in upgraded to ar-15's a few years back. Had a bad experience with shotguns, or maybe that was another town. Basiclly, most of the precients here now put an AR-15 (or M4 equiv) in the trunk of most cruisers, and the officers don't go anywhere without their 9mm loaded and ready. Sadly, there has been a couple cases recently where in a scuffle drug-tripping punks grabbed the holstered guns and killed 2~3 deputies over the last year or so. Shotguns are still available in the armory's, but they're being relegated to on-call backup.

Argh! either that was Oswald's 5T desert pack, or it was the 'other' desert pack! But they were hiding! Oh the humanity - the torture of it all!

Just checking, isn't the bm-21 that's been showing up the one from the DPRK pack?

I know you can add (pbos? addons?) directly into the server.cfg to force matching addon compliancy, but is it possible to put in say an MD5 hash of the pbo, so that serverops can confirm that they've got the real pbo's from the addon mod's, and make it readable so users can know if they're playing on a server with the real addons or not? Thanks.

OFP is not the only thing running on your computer. Odds are windows and stuff is taking half of your memory. I still swear 2K/XP has some mem tweaks that kick in when it detects over 512mb. That sb-live is also going to pull a few fps if you're running anything other that straight sound.

I'm not a lawyer, and this is not BIS nor Codemaster's official position. Regarding non-BIS content, the only thing I could find was in the O2 license, this is only an implied inference: I take that to mean that the rights of 'licensors' (= other users too) to their content / IP shall not be infringed by usage or application of BIS's O2 software. However, in regards to BIS content, they're explicity clear about prohibiting any reverse engineering BIS/Codemasters content in all the EULA's.

My understanding was that another reason that BAS asked folks to hold off on Tonal was that there were possibilities (and later realities) of patches, and that folks would be doing more harm than good in propagating hordes of incompatible versions, requiring usage of every version of the tonal pbo's, and getting the whole community po'd. I at least want to say thank you to BIS, for not putting putting such an overbearingly restrictive dev license that this discussion actually has some meaning.

Re-reading what you had posted, I'm a bit baffled as to what or why. Anyway, unless you open the files in a hexeditor and copy the bits or their hex representation into another hexeditor, your text app is going to clobber what it thinks is text, maybe pad it, and add headers to make friendly files.

Oh yeah, when you're done, bring task manager back up, switch to the "Applications" tab, and click "New task...". Looks just like the "Run" window from earlier. Type "explorer" without quotes, and click "ok". Congratulations junior necromancer.
-
NT,2K,XP: If you're sure nothing else is using the files, note the whole path to where the files are. Click the start button, click run, type "CMD" without the quotes, and click "OK". This gives you a command prompt. CD to the appropiate directory. If you have the "CommandPromptHere" powertoy from M$, it's a lot quicker and easier to get the same thing. Now right click on the taskbar, and select "Task manager". Switch to the "Processes" tab, and find "explorer.exe". Select it, and click "End process". "Yes", you are sure. Bye-bye windows. Ok, minimize task manager and go back to your command prompt. "del whatever.file". All better now.

I'm waiting to see how Condie's testimony will go. Considering the security clearances have lapsed on all the comission members, they're not authorized to recieve or digest the information that they really need. Lets see how that plays on TV. It'll be fun, lets get some popcorn and watch the party. Who care's about National Security stuff, that's so two days ago.

Interesting. She claims that she followed the proper channels for reporting management concerns. The part about her sister being arrested as a result of information leaked by former co-workers is odd, as most of the translators would also have relatives in the region similarly at risk, unless the whole translation department is as corrupt as she says. That will have to wait to be determined in court. She also argues that she was unreasonablely terminated. That too will need to be determined in court, as the employment contract was not attached to the complaint. My employer has a clause where any party can terminate the contract at any time with out warning, and I believe without having to give a reason. If as she says that her firing was retalitory, that would have to be proven as well in court, and her admission that review notes were not taken could well complicate her case. She cites as a foremost cause for the complaint the discloure of 'private' personal background information to unauthorized third-parties. However, no hint is given as to the identity of the third-parties, or reason for suspicion. Her arguement is actually an allegation that her file was leaked, no other specific charges. That's going to take a lot more work to get. The findings are pretty connect-the-dots obvious. If her story holds, the findings are logical. If they don't her reason for the same findings is bunk. As to the commentary from tomflocco, the ten years part is the length of time evaluated by the background check per her complaint. Hello? Are you as nutty as you claim the rest of your co-workers are? If she were to go public with the intercepts, that would of course potentially expose Methods & Operations to unauthorized personel. What else would you like to get for divulging classified material on public TV? A book deal? Ice cream?
