    RAH-66 Comanche

Okay, I know in the game it's not known as the RAH-66, but it seems identical to said helicopter, thus I would like to put my two P into the mix... Couple of things for the Developers to note... -Cockpits. Pilots and gunners are identical on actual Boeing helicopter -Pilot sits in the front cockpit, not the back ...Also will there be payload selection in the final game? The Comanche can attach external wings for more weapons... 6x internal Hellfires 8x external etc... thus you can see that these hard-points can hold Stingers, or whatever AA missile is in use... and also FFAR rockets... internal and external... Anyways... I'm sure this has been discussed, but I could find these issues...
  2. Okay, First off I apologize to the moderators if this has been covered, but I've been searching the net for the last three days and can't find any answers... I have also read through the SOM forum post all 11 pages and my eyes have gone square. I have a pretty good "instant action" SOM mission almost completed... The biggest problem I am running into is that once on the mainland of Chernarus my missions are all being given well outside of the map borders... I know about the distance spawn and all that jazz, but I can't really change that... I want to have it so that Objectives are spawned everywhere in Chernarus no matter where I am... Question: -How can one force the SOM to avoid areas to spawn objectives? -What is the most basic way of doing this? E.g.: I put squared area triggers on the borders of Chernarus, sync em to the SOM and this tells the SOM to avoid spawning there? I know you can force this on the ACM, I have done so... But, can it be done with the SOM? *Please keep in mind I am not in anyway script savvy, and any complicated explanation may result in the needless murder of weak braincells* :D

    Skipping time script.

Quick on for you, I can add a skiptime to a trigger, 6 hour advance every time you access the radio trigger... But, I wanted it to slow down and take 30 seconds to move time 6 hours when pressed... How might I do this...? Whats the easiest way to get this to work...? I am terrible at scripting... Thank you in advance for any help... Could you maybe please fire me a PM with the answer as well so I can track it via email...? Cheers, and thanks again for you help...
  5. Gents, I read through all 11 pages in a oner, might be the reason my eyes are now square... I want to do a WAH-64 mission with the SOM here are the parameters I would like to implement as to create a "Campaign" much like a Dynamic Helicopter simulator -Have specific areas where the SOM will generate missions (Linked to trigger or markers) -Tell some Triggers what kind of units to use (Tanks, IFV's, Inf and their factions) Well... Thats all I got so far... If someone is willing to lay this out in a way that a slow c*nt like me could understand I would appreciated it... I do art, not scripting... Very visual... Also, If anyone knows of a mission or example of something similar please point me in the right direction... Please PM me when you get a chance. Thanks in advance! Hoofi-tron!

    Merkava... IDF??

I truly hope that the Merkava will not be used as the NATO, or Western powers standard wagon (Tank)... Never gonna happen... Leopard 2A6? Yes... Merkava? Not a chance. It proved it was a poor tank when it got knocked out consistently in Lebanon, recently. Challenger 2. Best tank in the world, but too expensive and the crew needs to be trained to the highest standards. IE, Professional Soldiers. Leopard 2 series. Brilliant tank, not combat proven and can be utilized by conscripts. Thus most Euro countries have purchased or are looking to purchase this wagon. Canada although non-euro also purchased the Leo. It's petty but please don't included the Merkava into the Western arsenal. It's not realistic. Too heavy, too expensive to maintain with the revolver semi-autoloader, and it's not used nore will be used by NATO or the West. Other then that, the sim is looking very promising... I also like that the main character isn't a Yank. Thank you... Nobody wants to be a yank... We all want the American dream, but none of us want to actually be a Yank... Hoofin! ---------- Post added at 11:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:49 AM ---------- Also... "black eagle" was in development for North Korea... Might be an idea... Rumor was that it used a semi-auto main armament... and they (Russians) were contemplating using a 145mm main gun... can't really get into anything more then that... ---------- Post added at 12:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:58 AM ---------- also other then "modernization" packages, you won't see any major changes in our tech for the next 50 odd years... as we sit in limbo... Chally 2 will not be the Chally 3, Leopard 2 will not move on to the Leopard 3, etc... Tanks are too expensive and now that we have over specialized in this "counter-insurgency" way of warfighting... Gone are the days of "rolling thunder"... For now... BUT... A great armour man once said... "Whenever in future wars the battle is fought, armored troops will play the decisive role." Heinz Guderian He has another quote that I can't find right now, but it roughly says something along the lines of, -we cannot de-invent a weapon system once invented- Thus tanks no mater how hard your average soccer mom pushes the politicians the bin, will always be used in war... Maybe only at first by the enemy against us, but eventually by us as well... If any of you get a chance, try reading Guderian's "Achtung Panzer". Brilliant insight into the beginnings of Tank Warfare and the utilization of Tanks as an only offensive weapon system. Well sorry about that... That's enough from this white noised call sign! OUT!

    P:UKF Challenger 2.

@DaveP I you need any info mate on the Chally 2 that isn't "Secret", I did almost seven years on the beast... Let me know... Cheers!
  8. First, W0lle if this is in violation of any rules please PM me and I will edit accordingly with gusto... Second, I have been looking for the last couple of days for help on this and Have not found it in the search functions or the specifics that I'm looking for on Wiki either... *Sad hands*... Thirdly I'm scripting mentally *etarded... Thus the silly questions... I have seen many post about this but none seem to answer my specific questions... 1) I want to have it so that the Warfare module is running throughout the map without my player and units being connected? EG. I have set up a FOB, My team consists of neutral Contractors, We are helping the UN as an overwatch as the conflict prevails across the country. We carry out missions under constant threat from both sides but never in direct contact. Unless we fire on them, at which point they become enemy... Is there a way to do this without a script? Like adding a couple of lines in the "initialization" field of the WARFARE Module??? If so what is the commands? if not can some kind person bang out a script for me and also some instructions for scripting dummy's (like me) on how to get it to run billy basic style? 2) How the h*ll and where the h*ll do you tell the SecOps to use certain ranges for generating the missions? Also how do you tell it which missions you want it to use? EG. I want all missions to spawn min 1000 away and max 3000? I've seen how to do it, command wise but not where to write the text in the editor. Remember I'm very easily confused by scripting... I can make 3d models for games and draw unclothed women for my mates tattoos, but when it comes to scripting I'm rather simple... So can I do this in the editor and in baby steps please explain how one might go about doing this??? Oh also... How do you force WARFARE to start you in one location and with your grouped units from the editor? I was trying to sort out the gamelogic "start" location icon synced to the WARFARE and had no joy, tried grouping it... also no joy... tried using a blank marker and grouped... Like you can do with units random spawns... No joy... Erm... To recap... 1)How do you stop WARFARE from including the player? 2)How do you set spawn range and mission type in SecOps, keeping in mind I have tried the ways listed on Wiki to no avail? 3)How do you force a certain starting location in WARFARE? PLEASE remember when replying if any of you are kind enough to help, that I'm hoping that all the above can be executed from within the editor. If not can someone please write a simple set of scripts and instructions for a simple creature like myself? Awesome... You lads rock!

    WARFARE and SECOPS??? HELP???

Fiddlesticks... Nobody has any links for documentation? I've been searching Wiki every chance I get, but there is just not enough of an in-depth explanation... It only covers some brief examples... ==========================================SITREP========================================================= So after many hours between KAF runs, I have found this site... http://sandbox.darrenbrant.com/tag/editor-modules Everyone else more then likely knows about it... But I thought I would post it just incase. The SOM info is I think all you really need... At least for us simple creatures... Hope this helps someone out like it did me... Still hoping to find or have someone help with the other listed issues though... 1)How do you stop WARFARE from including the player? 3)How do you force a certain starting location in WARFARE? I found something on the above site but could not get it to work. Where you set down a start location from the gamelogic in units? You then name it "StartingLocation0", "StartingLocation1", etc... But I tried to sync it to the warfare, then to the player, then to nothing... No joy... Tried grouping it too... No joy, also tried putting down a "function" module and link it to everything at some stage... No workee... Nevertheless... Still hoping someone can point me in the right direction... Maybe a simple script that covers this even? PS. W0lle please let me know if this is in direct violation of any rules... I'll amend with gusto to your specs.

    Red Hammer Studios addons

...If only "Takistani" "troops" were that well groomed and looked after their kit that well??? Little misfits... Bless their little cotton socks... Awesome looking MOD though lads... Loved the RHS mods back in the OPF days! Hoofin!!! Can't wait for the '80's Any plans for the T-80UM1 series with a functioning Arena system... If you need to know how it works... I was an AFV Instructor in the British Army for a bit...? Here to help...
  11. Alreet lads... Just wondering if anyone knew a link or had any extensive tutorials, not on youtube (can't access it on our company server), that could teach a simple creature (me) how to change things like factions used in warfare and how to set up the SecOps so I can call a Chinook or call in a fire mission, fast air , gunship support, etc??? Cheers all, and a late Merry Christmas to you all! Furthermore... Anything simple with lots of visuals... Scripting and code is beyond me... dreadful at math, brilliant at painting..
  12. alreet lads...? I've been trying to find if there is a way to set the shadow resolution to 128x128 or just a nice low setting? Is there a way to do this? I always do this for any game released by Bethesda... Max out all graphics and set shadow resolution to the lowest... Helps out in scenes where you have tones of things flying around a battlefield etc... Anyways... Cheers for any reply's!
  13. Roger... Seems like a really demanding way to render shadows...? In STALKER they seem to render really fast with minimum frame drop... Via a light source... Anyone who knows more then I on the subject care to comment??? Always trying to learn more about this stuff... Should probably get a course under my belt... Art Institute or something...
  14. @PUFU That's exactly what I was looking for... So you recon it's in a .dll? Fiddlesticks! Oh well... Cheers again for the heads-up... Legend!
  15. Because it may need to be an .ini edit? ---------- Post added at 07:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 AM ---------- I was unaware that, that is how it worked... Brilliant! Learn something new everyday... Except yesterday... And the day before that... :j:
  16. thanks for that... I know I can do that but you loose shadows on most objects... I wanna keep shadows on everything and projecting from house gutters, etc but at a super low res for speed...
  17. Cheers mate... Pretty quiet these days... But, that might just be a lure for another summer offensive... You an ex-Royal mate? My little brother is almost through phase two with them Navy lot... Hehehee... Legends!
  18. Good day, I was wondering. I spent the better part of a decade in the British Army and was in the Infantry (1RRF), Royal Armoured Corps (2RTR) and finished my time in Recce. I am now a Freelance in Southern Afghanistan, and it's cold out here. My reason for all this experience has always been to bring something brilliant to the gaming industry. I played Comanche for DOS back in the day and knew I wanted to help this growing brilliance in entertainment that was going to bring the simulation of war to everyone's PC's. Instead of their front doorsteps. I have all my credentials and qualifications on digital copies. As I know this has to sound rather silly, that someone would risk their life over all these years just to be able to allow your average person to "play" soldier. Trust me I've asked myself many times "why"? But at the end of the day it is also something that has always been a part of me and I am really good at it. Civdiv (Civilian Division, Army joke) is a very strange place to me. Always has been. Anyway, intrinsically what I am looking for is a POC (point of contact) in BIS that I could send my CV to and also maybe find out if I can help in anyway, from training the staff on weapon drills, to motion capture acting, I've also taught myself 3d max, Photoshop and some Blender. failing that I have a game script with some ideas that have not yet been seen that I have been working on for the last ten years. Every time I was on Ranges in Germany (Hohne) with the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank or freezing my... Man parts off in BATUS (British Army Training Unit Suffield) I was taking notes on how to improve sims and FPS to get that gritty realism that everyone in their warm homes wants without the sore joints and icecube fingers... In reflection I think you lot are a hell of a lot smarter then I. So. If any Developers read this site, please drop me a PM and I can forward you my professional CV. Oh and just a heads up... The people who have really seen war, at least the ones I have fought with will come across as the nicest people you have ever met. Why? Because we know our limits and have beaten them many times. The ones that pretend to be hard as nails... Were in the rear counting sheets. After my experiences you learn what a joke life is. Don't get me wrong, I am an angry man like any good Veteran is, but that's why I want to move on to the gaming industry. It's the perfect place for me, now. *Further to my last. I tried to keep this email interesting and not all "ARMY", as I know that can offend people sometimes, most of the time. Cheers and all the best... I should get a pic of me and the dust bowl that is Afghan with ArmA 2 on the laptop in the background... Be a good one...*
  19. Yeah... Got your PM... thanks so much for such a quick reply. Fired off my CV, last night... Also thanks for the good wishes... It would be a great present for the holidays as this is my second year on the trot away from home for Christmas...
  20. Hello... I've been trying for the last couple of days to sort this out: I wanna make it so that I can place a trigger... Add a name to it like "BAF_Infantry_Section" and have it so that when the player enters the trigger this unit will spawn? I'm trying to figure out how to go about populating the whole world with units but avoiding eating frame rates for breakfast in the process... Maybe even having it so that when you place a marker the corresponding unit spawns when the player gets near... I might try syncing the ambient combat module to a trigger... Further to the last is there a way to link the SOM (SecOps) to these camps/Units that spawn so that you can get random missions on the go? Oooo... And maybe as you take out camps etc... the front line moves forwards, so you can take over the whole of the map and thus end the war? Anyways... Probably got ahead of myself again... Any help would be much appreciated... PM me if you can help me with any needed scripting, or just post any help on this thread so everyone can use it... Legends! Cheerzie!
  21. Hey lads... I can't write scripts for poopoo... So this is a request, kinda... I wanna make it so that I can place a trigger or something over a town and tell it to be a certain priority to the AI to fight for take and hold. I then want to be able to place units on both sides and have them fight for control of each area I designate... very much like Company of Hero's fuel points etc... Thus these missions will last till all points are captured or all of one side is dead... or no longer on the battle field... Maybe theres a script out for this already... But I can't find it... *sad hands*... Thanks in advance to whom ever steps up... Maybe a PM or something and then I can pass off my email... I'm gonna keep trying to sort this out without using scripts, but I bet I can't... Cheers!!! ---------- Post added at 07:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:11 AM ---------- Further to my last... Have it so that you have attacking/assault units and defensive units, so once a position is taken the attacking units move on to the next one as the defensive ones move in to defend the now recently cleared objective... Have a pool of units like a battlegroup (1 Heavy Callsign squadron, 1 Mech Inf. Battalion) on either side and maybe some way of automated choice in who goes where and when??? Maybe thats too complicated... I'll have more of a think about this... Any feedback is great though... Or a link to an already created script of this nature... Like Capture the flag but in SP, and with AI... and...erm... the flags are instead targets of interest... like towns, rail yards, and bridges... Hoofin!

    P:UKF Challenger 2.

Just saw this bad boy... That Chally that took the Milan... That was Cyclops Sqn, 2 RTR, Callsign 31... I had to take the fuel bags out of it in Germany when we sent it home... Vickers was pissed that it penetrated... My mate was the gunner and the only thing that they saw was smoke and crap in the turret... I was in C/S 31, Falcon Sqn... Hoofin good time... Once our internet Nazi is asleep I'll be DL this badger as soon as! NICE!!! Looks so shiny and clean! Like we had em before that shi**y fleet management came onto the scene, stupid pencil jockeys... ---------- Post added at 03:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 AM ---------- "and the main gun was just about as powerful (the KE rounds are slightly less effective than from the M1A1's Smoothbore gun due to the rifling, I can post a very long, technically detailed explanation of this but i'd prefer if you'd just take my word.)" Arg!? The L30 CHARM is in no way shape or form weaker then the stupid Yank tank and it's smoothbore mate... Never... I worked on CR2 for six years and deployed on Telic one in 2003... In Lulworth I watched one of our wagons fire over the side decks through a 200m berm and still hit dead center of the target... Furthermore... The reason we don't use trace on our FIN rounds is because they go faster then stink and you couldn't see it anyways... If your standing in the range tower in Germany on a cold day you can see the grass burn behind the rounds... I can't talk about all the details and the muzzle velocity, but trust me when I say the L30 CHARM would eat any stupid smoothbore crap for breakfast... The only reason Yanks and Germans turned to smoothbore is for one piece ammo to increase speed of loading and to fire missiles... They don't fire missiles and when I was an Operator I could load a 3 piece round in 3 seconds!!! That's faster then any gunner can sort out his engagement sequence... On paper the M1 series is the best tank ever to grace our fine earth, but on the battlefield... They eat way too much, fire soft rounds, go up in flames like the old Shermans and are crewed by mongs who need winets to sort out any problems they have! I've seen it with my own two eyes... As I write this from the Middle East's 'loudest' area... I was a gunnery instructor on CR2... You need to know anything, (within reason) and taking COMSEC and PERSEC into consideration I can help you out... Other then that... Can't wait to try this out... Mind you ACE 2 will more then likely make it unworkable... Maybe I'll mess around with some values... Oh... here's a good one... fired a FIN through the front plate on a '72... It went through the front out the back into the front of the one we put behind it and through the back of that one too... Absolutely stellar!
