litle more info needed are you trying to host your own game? or are you joining a game. if your joining just expand the the fashpoint folder and check the version your running. then highlight the "waiting for players" (not sure what it's called) right click and choose "refresh". that will show you all games that are currently wait for people to join.

check to see if you can open ports through ICS. I know ICS has firewall capabilities built in. or enable winsock proxy (if possible). if all else fails.....get a real proxy server that supports winsock.

download "AllSeeingEye", it will show you servers that you can log onto to play. choose the ones with low pings. what you are doing you need to know the IP and port # of the server in advance or you are setting yourself up as a server. in AllSeeingEye just double click and it lunches OFP

it actually is the action command, unitname action ["?"] it something like "up" or ["climb", "up"]. not sure of the syntax but someone posted this about AI getting into guard towers a while back. hope that help a little.

I,ve been trying to make a t2 fire on a few houses. the best i can do is place a small object near the house and use the dofire command to make the tank fire on the object. it's very unreliable, the tank doesn't see the object all the time if it's too small. i've tried using game logic instead of an objest but the tank only looks around for a second and then move to the next waypoint. is there a way to do this by hiding an object or something? help please!!!11

making AI tank fire on houses again
schaef2k replied to schaef2k's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
no reveal didn't do anything. i have it working pretty well by placing wristwatches and targeting them. it's almost imposible to spot the wristwatch yourself but the tank finds them most of the time. it's not 100% perfect the tank misses sometimes (that's ok, nobody's perfect) out fo three watches it will hit all three about 75% of the time. the skill of the tank helps allot also. but for what i want to do, this works fairly well. -
ya i have that one......let see...... under empty? i know my objects are all over. i think the one man tank is in the units, east, armor if i'm not mistaken. i'm at work so i can't check right now.

i think you need to look under camera not objects. i have so many addons i'm not sure what is where anymore!! you can also look under support.

Chopper doesn't want to land
schaef2k replied to jverhaak's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
i'm not sure if you want to put htis in the waypoint or make a trigger. use the setfuel 0 command and the chopper will not have any fuel to takeoff again. if you use the trigger you'll need to sync it with the waypoint. you'll have to use another trigger to setfuel 1 if you want it to take off again. hope that helps. -
making AI tank fire on houses again
schaef2k replied to schaef2k's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
just thought i'd update you guys. last night i was working on this for about 3 or 4 hours and i found a few things pretty interesting. 1) i'm convinced that unless a tank can see it, it won't shoot it. People have mentioned helipads, I couldn't get that to go. the only thing i havn't tried is a hidden object (or person) because i can't figure out how to make things hidden. 2) tanks can see very small objects at about 200-300 meters out. i was using the object "wristwatch", you can't see it unless your standing right on top of it. 3) to get the tank to target more 2 objects i had to use multiple waypoints each targeting 1 or 2 objects with 20 second delays in between. it looks cool actually (in my mission) because the tank rolls up, starts to target, shoots and slowly rolls about 10 m forward to the next waypoint and repeats. 4) set the tanks skill to max. helps with acuracy and consistancy. in addition i found some object that are assigned to a side (east, west) like fences rocks..... anyway i found "concrete block - WEST". an east tank actually treats it as an enemy armored unit. no waypoint no trigger no nothing, just put one out there and that tank will go nuts. those t72's sure do hate cement blocks!!! an they blend in real nice into houses!!! that's it for now, got the mission working buy targeting wristwatches. i'm got to switch to the blocks and see if it plays better. -
making AI tank fire on houses again
schaef2k replied to schaef2k's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
i'm just saying that becouse if you shoot 2 or 3 civilians your squad will start shooting at you. maybe there is a distinction between civilian people and object (i hope!!!) -
making AI tank fire on houses again
schaef2k replied to schaef2k's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
i don't mind the score against the civilian since it's AI anyway. however if it shoots 2 or 3 heli pads does the rest of the unit consider him "renagade" for killing civilians and start shooting at him. if that's not the case this would work. -

have you tested that damage? will the tank shoot at the invisible helo pad?? if so that would work perfect. i'll have to test when i get home. -
making AI tank fire on houses again
schaef2k replied to schaef2k's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
i tried useing "knowsabout" but that didn't work. Someone else also suggested "reveal". i'll try that when i get home. also, how do you place a hidden object? -
What i'm trying to do is have 2 t72's pull up a few hundred meters outside of town and begin shelling a few houses to prep for the ground forces. i tried using t1 dofire house (t1 is the tank) in the last move waypoint. the tank looks like it's trying to target something but never actually fires. how do i make this guy shoot a few houses??

making AI tank fire on houses
schaef2k replied to schaef2k's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
thanks for the info guys, i got it to work by placing a game logic unit on the house named house1, house2....and put t1 dofire house1. i think you could also place a hidden civilian in the house and name him house1. thanx -
i think you can (can't try it....i'm at work). if you put the command in the unit's init field.... this canfloat. not sure of the exact wording but i know there is a float command. hope that helps
