  1. well some (to most of the fighter on the front line) of the taliban were "bread" in Pakistan's coranic schools, some of them even coming from musilm area of western china (ouirgur) and some came directly from pakistan, ISI agent of pro-cashmiri nationalist fighter used by ISI.

    In pakistan, 37,0% of the population (60 millions) is living is Western Penjab, speaking the so-called "Western Penjabi", 48% of Pakistanese people are speaking a language belonging to this group. Thus, I think adding some punjabi to these Taliban is not a great mistake  wink_o.gif

    But you're right, Pashtu will be more than great, but'it more complicated to get.

    I think catshit-Ag smith could have some benefit of the indukush texture because it match to resistance original textures, also I am not satisfy by the overall looking of my buildings, it looks more Northern Africa than Afghan


  2. Afghaneveron is (still) on its final stage, but close to final final stage now, here's some last improvement with accurate city names (but no accurate position).

    It will be realease as beta because there's still bug to be fixed in the textures (nicer transition) and buildings (lightening and lod improvement). It will have 27 simple MP mission using an intermediate afghanpack update, BAS Chopper and 100shiki US soldiers.

    concerning the size, the map will need this 3 files :

    indukush.pbo : textures (using resistance as a base) (less than 20mb in a rar) (rock, aridgreen, fields, dirt)

    afganO.pbo : objects and sounds (10mb in a rar)

    afganeveron.pbo : the map itself (5mb)

    it will enable further update and could be use to make middleeastern maps using resistance desert texture

    Taliban are now with (little bit) nicer face, use jam and speak arabic (didn't find the 1000 dialect of afghanistan wow_o.gif  ) AND punjabi. They will be updated later.

    soon soon, not yet but soon, me very very busy at that time (just my phd to write crazy_o.gif ) and working on NorthKorean pack (don't know why, but it's all fixed and updated)

    I wasn't happy with the last topographic changed I made on afganeveron, i'm still looking for names of the cities in farci arabic, at least in arabic, and trying to change the bell for azan call from the mosque.

    Version V1.0 is packed and ready for release. A light version (28mb) with the pack only and a full version (44mb) with pack+22-MPmissions-campaign-pack+addons-used-in-the-campaign-pack.

    Sebnam pack is absolutely needed.

    BUT

    as you may see on the screenshots I used (among others) 3 models and textures of the best talented addonmaker in ofp community :

    - FDF's Keygetis MIG-21 (I re-colored the original texture, removed scripts and some animations like parachute, and made 2 versions one CAS with rocketpod and one CAP with 4 Atoll + textures' path to be included in a all-in-one "ofpdnva.pbo").

    - CSLA Gaz69 and PT-76. I changed the insigna on the gaz and textures' path for both. Removed script and custom annimations for the PT-76.

    AND

    I know (and understand) some addonmakers can get very furious when someone modify their creations. Particulary from people like me who are far to be as talented as FDF or CSLA team. It was not possible for me to create brandnew Mi21 and PT-76. It would have be useless and stupid to remake it for russian army, but I don't thing that FDF and CSLA are going to make NorthVietnam version of these models. So I tryed to do it.

    I hope one understand I'm not stealing these models, and notice that I always put credits&details to all the creators I use the work in this "mod of the mod" pack.

    Anyways I won't make this pack avaible as long as I don't get a "OK" from CSLA and FDF. I mailed to some of them and I am waiting for their replies.

  8. why everon ? at the beguinning, i just wanted to make a quick map, turning sea to land, changing buildings and adding mosque on zwadar desert everon to match with the afganpack, I also try desert malden, but yes the southern part of everon was easier, then i start to add new texture (based on resistance ones), and finaly changing the relief, roads, new town, rivers etc. now it has almost nothing to do with Everon, expect the main road patern.

    I have geodata for real afganrelief smile_o.gif, but failled to import intor wrptools sad_o.gif


  9. Hi everybody and thanks for your interest in this map.

    AfganEveron is 97% finished I "just" have two problems

    - ladders bug on the mosque : when one is right the other is the wrong way

    - I'm looking for "farci alphabet" writings of North-East afganistan cities (konduz, Taloquan, Charikar)

    after that, a few more works to make the landscape looks better and it will be ok

    Some buildings are 100% enterable with furnitures inside, some have just the 2nd floor enterable and some are not.

    100% are "climbable"/walkable by lader of stair : you can hide on roofs and move from roof to roof, and/or put people on top (deadly). During MP test it was nice and immersive full 3D fights

    50% of buildings are "small" parts" that can be (re)assembled to make new ones in editor or in wrptools

    I'd like also to remplace the hours "standard bell" by azan (call for pray), but I'm still looking for the trick. Anyway, you will have sounds added in the editors

    10 to 15 missions are also "almost" completed to work with taliban pack, Afgan VS Russian, US VS Taliban

    It has a network of river, with crossable ford (sometime not when the tide is hide, but most of the time it's ok).

    Afganeveron is near to be released. Here are screenshots of the last version. It will be not more than 13-14mb in a ace file. I try to make it the smallest possible and reduced the number of polys. Also by using the most I could original BIS textures and models. it will come with various objects, trees and sounds. I think it will be easy to use the object pack to make nice Middle-East map fo OFP.

    I tryed to improve AI move in Medinas (old city-quater of Arab towns) but it's not that great... For MP one will be able to jump from roof to roof or wait behind a wall or a windows. Most of the building are climbable.

    As buildings are almost ok, I plan to make another (and better) afganmap, I prepared nice textures (20mo), I have the building, I just need a terrain. I have one but it would ask too much work to make it ok. If someone could give me a REAL afgan *.wrp terrain (ie only elevations, making the conversion from real afgan geodata to *.wrp) it would be great. preferably East or North-East or South-East region of Panjshir, TribalZone, ToraBora would be perfect. join me a remo@ofpd.org

    Taleb soldiers have been upgraded (texture+model+sound+JAM...and no more glasses biggrin_o.gif or vehicles bug :O )

I added a few things made 100% from myself : bikes, Sampan, and paddy field. Also a "Radiosaigon" music pack to enable easy implementation of "Nam ambiance" for missions makers. A 20 missions campaign set in IaTrang is also almost completed (briefing/beta test). More details here

    For Ruff:

    1. Well the decision for the side of NA soldier and taleb was done according to this

    - NorthernAlliance has always been supported by West (less than more) and always opposed to soviet. (expect at the end when russian fed. and Tadjikustant gave them support against Taliban). It has been allied with Taliban during Afganwar

    - Taliban was first supported and armed by the US and today they are fighting US. They have been allied with other afgan mudjaideen

    - Soviet has always been against Taliban and against NorthernAlliance during afganwar.

    That is Taliban is the pivot which is changing side and it was the most usable way to reflect alliance and disalliance.

    Now, some people in Germany and in France decided to put their troops on resistance side. It is not accurate at all (Germany has full of US waeponery and France too), but I think we must thanks W.Bush for this and the anger against US he is responsible in this "old europe" country who just have the right to say yes when there is nothing the French love more than saying NO to US. But it is not accurate politicaly, and even if I am not a great addon maker, even if I am French, I like accuracy in that field.

    2. Fort the hight dispertion. I never handle neither a AK47 nor a M16, but as far as I have been informed M16 sounds better in term of precision or power but it is more subject to jam or weaker than the old AK47. And it is for this reason I think the robust AK47 are the more spread weapon in the wolrd. But Also Afgany has fight with it for more than 20 year, they are making their own "homemade" AK47 from the original model, and more of that they have a rude fighting spirit. Also I think they know thier gun more than US troops with thier M16 and for longer time. I don't think they are easy rabbits to shoot.

    And at last... there're a lot of Ak47/74 addons and I am a little bit opposed to this weapon proliferation.

    Anyway, for side or config, you can just open the config.cpp in the addon and modified it with textpad, change the side=0/1/2 to have the soldier in the side you want or change their weapon.
