In free mission mode I get a hint saying that extraction is avaliable - however there is no option to call for it in the action or radio menus - everytime my value goes up i get the same hit, but with no effect

you can fly trough them Philcommando, what about making the clouds a bunch of smoke particles? blow up twenty tanks in FDF and fly trough the smoke that creates, it's impressive! and for normal coulds this should even be less CPU intensive (then FDF smoke) Simply make it a script that you can activate via one of those invisible things, like [<meter> , <type of cloud> ,exec "cloud.sqs" ] or something, that would be awesome . I've seen this done - the results where not very impressive and caused fps to drop by 3-4
