ok call me an idiot but ive downloaded about 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 addons and tried playing on tons of servers and i STILL cant seem to play online successfully. i stopped playing OPF a while ago because of this and came back because i wanted to try to play again but god still hates me. it seems like every server i join, there is a list longer than schindler's of addons i need and despite all the addons ive downloaded, i still dont have them. i remember last time i tried playing i spent more time trying to get all the addons i need than actually playing and im finding im faring no better this time around. it is very VERY FRUSTRATING. i remember back in the day before people started making addons for every new day on the calendar that i could join every game i pleased, with little to no trouble, and had an awesome time. even MFCTI i dont believe required addons to start out with (or am i thinking RTS?) anyway i swear i am ready to shove my fist into the computer screen thinking about all of this and i would do it too if it werent for the fact that id end up having to clean up the mess afterwards. somebody please ship me some firearms or explosives so i can put myself out of this misery in a quick (hopefully) painless way

modfolders = ?? also now i am able to play since i removed all my stupid addons but the one i needed, but i find i have a different problem i get tend to get disconnected alot for no reason. i have no firewalls, and i am the DMZ host on my network so i have all ports forwarded to me so i dont see what the problem could be? also my internet is running smooth 100% of the time, its just with OFP.

they should make an update where if the server turns it on it can send the addons to you...obviously for megasuper big addons like those BAS packs it wouldnt be useful but for the servers that require one or two addons <MFCTI for example, though i know there are many others> it would be a great help. also i want to just wipe all my addons out and start from scratch but now i dont know what is BIS's addons and what are user addons...bah

anyone have any idea when i try to play CTI i get a message saying im missing rucksack addon despite the fact that i downloaded all those stupid addons off their website? btw this happens on multiple servers

id like to see each player get an mi17. that would be so awesome. it would totally lagtacular!

for servers that require addons, ive already tried getting them and either A) i dont know where and there are too many to locate them all, plus there is no way to access their webpage even if it is in their server name because it doesnt fit on the screen and icant pull it up when i join or B) i go to download them only to find out i already have them installed in which case i think "wtf" and call it a day

i used to make tons of missions but the problem was 2 things: 1. little inconsistencies. when you try making one unit do one thing or a group do some sort of maneuver, opf is so dynamic theres a good chance it wont always happen. it becomes very frustrating....ive given up many a time because of this. 2. disinterest. id start making one mission and itd take too long for my patience to complete or require too much work, and id move to something else i thought better but that needed less work, only to find it needed just as much work. dont get me wrong. im not some n00b mission maker either. if you looked through my missions you'd find for the most part they are very well made and have some really complex stuff in them (one of my quarter-completed missions has "radiation", along with a geiger counter, NBC protected vehicles and anomalies...along the line of stalker!) but ive just never had the motivation to finish them, and ontop of that, when they do get near completion, i just play them myself so much that i never bother releasing them :-p i also have a mission where its like the tfc map "warpath" where you are restricted to one road and you would have been able to build stuff and all....i lost interest again :-p. another not quite mission i have but an addon that was suposed to allow unit-class abilities i have half completed. you just add a line into your intro.sqs and put a folder in the mission folder and wham! all the units have special abilities like in tfc. of course this wasnt fully finished either but medics could deploy med tents and revive the wounded, engineers could build pontoon bridges using pallets and something else although i forget what, MGers at the very least could deploy M2MG's, their other skill i never finished, sabateurs could deploy cameras. i even tried making it so snipers could climb trees but there was some reason why that wasnt really possible without an incredible ammount of work...i also made this kickass UH60 gunner mission that had the airwolf theme song goin in the backround and was very good except it definitely wasnt presentable either...the uh60 wouldnt always point in the right direction despite my attempts to make it do so, sometimes the shilka id have firing towards the uh60 would actually hit it and cause it to go down so anyhow yea, there ya go :-p but the missions i have released if you look at them are REALLY crappy because they are extremely simple stuff that i didnt even bother polishing up. oh yea did i mention...i forget who but me and some other guy, OPF GOLF!? yeeep thats right :-p and you cant have it haha

mods i assume this will be moved/locked since every thread has about a 50% chance of that happening in this forum but at least let me get this out... i used to be a diehard player of opf since the beginning and even before the game came out...but now i find myself putting in the cd only to remove it later in disgust. to start out with, for OPF multiplayer there are 2 kinds of games. one is the no-addons-needed simple one town CTF; now while this is an easy way to get some quick OPF gaming in im not exactly a fan of this style of play since there is soooo much more to opf than just one town ctf...if i wanted that i could just stick the HL cd in and play some counterstrike....heck i dont even need the CD to play CS! not that im exactly a CS fan, but point being that wasnt what i had in mind when i bought this game then there is the other kind of multiplayer game, my kind, which makes use of alot of the other cool stuff OPF has which other games dont...vehicles, scripting, effects, etc. of course when i go to join all of them i fail to notice that they require about 10 different addons to play, not forgetting the fact that some of the addons required require addons of their own. (ok maybe 10 is an exageration, but the part of addons requiring their own addons isnt) so anyhow by the time i get to the stage where ive looked at all the MP games im pretty much feeling like "screw it, ill just find a few cool looking addons or download a mission or something". so eventually i make it into the editor and load the spectacular desert island with a single simple mod i download and mess around with it...on a desert island...with a couple enemy units....needless to say it gets boring pretty fast with no objective or goal or anything. so if i reach the point of being ambitious i go to download a whole ADDON PACK with a map that goes along and the whole works! WOW! BUT GUESS WHAT? SILLY WABIT, THAT ADDON PACK REQUIRES AN ADDON OF ITS OWN...and after spending a good half an hour trying to find THAT addon, and i find it, hey guess what? im starting to feel pretty good about myself, wow ive actually got something started here...i got a working addon pack! now time for the island to go along with it....oh but wait! what is this! a list of required addons to use the island....and not one but several! so this stooge goes to search for the first addon on the list, only to find that it couldnt be found on ofpec and would take too long to look through all the pages of addons on ofpgamezone (since there is no search-thingy). so i go to use my last resort, godly google, keeper of the web, and do i find it! BY GOLLY YES! I FOUND ADDON NUMBER ONE! I AM THE KING OF THE WORLD...I AM THE GOD OF ALL THINGS MIGHTY...oh but wait! whats this? could not find file blah.rar....WHAT? AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHRGGGGGGGG!!!! ::mighty king-kong chest pound:: and by that time mr. looney toon has gone onto the flashpoint forums to rant about his troubles after several hours of totally unproductive unfulfilling uninteresting and unhumane work to be able to be able to play such a wonderful game...well at least my opfr jewel case will enhance the beauty of my cd collection...the guy on the cover looks POed....i wonder whats that stuff smeared over his face....is he single? time to take my medication, will continue rant later (if not locked) edit: bottom line is, too many different addons are needed to play MP or use OTHER addons, and trying to find a particular addon is ridiculously hard, plus the setup of many websites with finding addons isnt very helpful. try to successfully install several addons or be subjected to gang rape by a bunch of aids infested african monkeys? backside, please!

oh crap i just noticed the search function at ofpgamezone isnt just news...u can select other stuff as well...such as addons :-D

thx for the link, will try it out as for ofp.info having most of the mods, case is im sure your right because they have pages and pages and pages and pages of mods when you go to the site, but no where to search through all of them! ontop of that, half of the addons that i wish to get have three letter acronyms which i have no clue what they mean in which case i wouldnt know which category to look under to start out with.

ill get a root beer float! no sinning, plus its prolly tastier too :-) oh and one last thing this has happened to me before....several months ago, when i had tried playing opf again. i cant remember which addons i tried using, but i remember the same thing happened, and i pretty much said screw it and havent tried opf again till now...

wow response already. anyhow im cooling down...slowly but surely...i think i need a drink...all this intense searching has taken alot out of me ! :-D as for which mod, the first mod i talked about was the p38 lightning (its great, my favorite ww2 plane, looks beautiful and flies like it too but to really play using it i think id need alot of other ww2 stuff to make it more fun...which needless to say im not about to go attempt to download) as for the second mod, its the lost brothers addon pack with sinai penninsula, i was waiting for a mod like this for a long time, from the screens it looks great but i guess ill never know lol...enough drama for the evening. OH CRAP ITS MORNING NOW (seriously...when i started this it was like early-early morning like 1-2AM, now its 5AM!) (oh an also, i still consider 1AM evening, cuz really its too early to be considered early, so all it can be considered is late. enough with my screwed up logic already!)

whoa whoa there is a map of the terrain in the chopper cockpit? ive never seen it before, although i have noticed there is one window in the cockpit that is always empty (has nothing in it). must investigate further...

in the pre-ofp days all the way from a year + to before release, bis was releasing tons of pics, doing tons of interviews, at one point was releasing a movie every week and just kept wetting everyones appetites. now it seems to have gone to a blackout of information. no pics, no movies, no words, no nothing. now dont get me wrong, i dont think it will stay like this, but my question to all of you is how come? what made bis make a total turn around like that? i can think of several possibilities... - bis is making too many rapid changes to opf2 to make it worth while to release info? - ofp1's release might hindered by the mountain of information? - too little has been completed/changed since ofp1 to make a big difference and releasing info might set ofp a step back? (ie. engine) of course this is all just my guesswork. im sure all of you have theories of your own :-p and i want to hear them!

i mean after all that work, i remember work commenced on the vietnam mod years ago, and i thought that was transforming into OPF2. now with opf2 apparently looking like it WONT be vietnam, whered all that stuff go? i mean alot of work was done on that mod from my understanding and i cant imagine bis just dropping it after all those models and maps and whatnot were made/obtained and everything... so the question for me is, will vietnam be dropped? will it be a standalone game using the opf1 engine or a mod for opf? or maybe they will delay it to make a mod for opf2 based on vietnam? what do yall think?
