if you search a bit, downloaded versions have problems with updates, with activation... if I were you, I would buy arma in a store regards
-
I remember playing a mission named "Mision Imposible v1.0" in which you have to destroy 4 radas all over the island, where AI had supress fire... regards, pepel

is the easiest thing ever... just edit the game mem regards, pepel

I would like to see the algoritm But I don't if it would be usable, because not all the objects in arma are solid (ie, foliage) obviusly rendering an scene per player do not mean to make a scene rendering like clients, just some basic redering to see what really each player can see Just say that I'm not an expert, this is just what I think with my little knowledge regards, pepel

Not to be flaming or anything but here is a non os specific site showing times for servers (Http) being online without rebooting. Might give some insite to all this. NetCraft If you read carefully nowadays most linux servers uses kernel >2.5.25 regards, pepel *EDIT*: and a windows server not rebooted since 1400 days is the most vulnerable system ever

The only problem of this is about resources. Obviusly, if server only send relevance data to clientes, you can take out the foliage if you want, but you won't see more... But in order to do that, server will have to render the scene for each player, so it may take a lot of resources, and in the current state (or no state) of the arma server optimation it will be worst... It would be a good start if the server would start controlling some paramters (position, damage of weapons....) regards, pepel

In fact any anticheat measure could be bypassed, the server ones too... What is important is, at least, make cheaters work harder... and no just get the ofp cheats and put them in arma... regards, pepel

is obvios that the direct3d/Directx cheats are very hard to detect but!: 1. The armed assault server should be able to detect instant change of position (for exemple). So we need: - A better server control over some parameters. 2. We really need a central authority with the signatures for the addons, and a server should only accept those that are known to be harmless (obviusly an admin server might add some to a local list). So we need: - The signature tool - A central authority I have to add some things to the first point... I think it would be very difficult to make a diference from a mission script changing position (or blowing up cars) and someone cheating. any clue? regards, pepel

Minor thread hijack, but have you had any problems running TS overlay with ArmA, Pepel? Which graphics card do you have\drivers? I'm unable to run them together, the overlay causing intermittent lag. I haven't had any problem with the TSO and Arma. I have an Nvidia GForce7900GT with nvidia lastest drivers (winxp SP2 pro) HTH, Pepel

just type: #lock or #unlock didn't know thanks

Only one thing to say.... JIP is one of the better things in ArmA! In OFP I remember interminables minutes waiting for people to come to the server, and after starting, 2 o 3 players left the game... so the teams were unbalanced and admin had to do a restart... so, you were 1 hour to play 10 minutes... Now you can enter on a server playing, you don't have to wait, if someone left the game, anotherone is connecting. The only thing I miss is the admin ability to unlock and lock the server when playing ( to let or not let more people) regards, pepel

don't be to much excited... if is done with scripts (ie. setpos every 0.01 seconds) won't be too much playable in multiplayer... regards, pepel
-
I think that VBS1/VBS2 have the ability in the engine, arma have the same engine but with some possibilities just disabled... so I don't think we can do what vbs1/2 can do in the same way... regards, pepel

Completely agree. IMHO BIs should stop paching bugs, and start realising modding tools! What made OFP the best game ever? The community! With all of those awesome mods (FDF, W2K3, and a lot more I 'm forgoting) Please, release first the modding tools, and then let the community do their job. regards, pepel
