NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here!
paelleon replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have to reinstall ArmA2 and OA recently since I installed an SSD (and put ArmA2 into it :p ). I applied the latest patch 1.59 and... wonders! Now I can play for 10-15 minutes, then my screen goes black. The game doesn't crash, I can hear myself walking or shooting as usual, the action doesn't stop at all, but I cannot see anything, all is black. Exiting to windows with CTRL-ALT-CANC or ALT-TAB and reentering game doesn't help. I never had this problem since now!!! My Nvidia drivers are version 258.96. Can anyone help me? ---------- Post added at 07:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:32 AM ---------- Do they make things better or worse? :j: -

I agree. ArmA and AmrA2 (and , why not, OFP) needs a CCIP addon. I read that the last version of Mando Missile has it, but only on certain types of aircrafts. CCIP system is quite widespread today, being used since the Vietnam war. Even russian made aircrafts uses it. It's a simple and cheap way to greatly improve bombing accuracy, much more cheaper than retrofitting ALL YOUR BOMBS  with ridicolous, expensive, jammable GPS receivers. I don't agree. With the single exception of the USA, no other country in the world had converted its entire arsenal of bombs into guided munitions, it is simply too expensive (and useless ;)! In the world there still tons and tons of cheap, effective, reliable, unguided munitions: cluter dispensers, FAE and iron bombs, napalm and white phosporous clusters, rockets, even deep charges for ASW warfare in shallow waters. All of them rely on the CCIP computer and pilot skill to hit the target! In modern low instensity guerrilla warfare you can afford to use few (few! they costs too much!) guided munitions to destroy small pockets of badly armed resistance, but when things gets really hot and we are speaking of a real, high intensity war, you need tons of ammo and you'll have very little time to release them. Locking a missile to the right target needs more time than just fly by and drop 2 unguided-heavier-yet-less-expensive iron bombs. Damn, I like bombing runs!:D

I still have migration issue. I uninstalled the previous version and cleaned directory DATI APPLICAZIONI (I have the italian version of WinXP 32), installed the latest 0.4.5 version of the updater. Created the LEGACY.TXT file under its main directory and started the GUI... nothing new. the error log says: ERROR: No migration with version number 2 -
"Receiving" screen then nothing
paelleon replied to -Shifty-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm using the latest Nvidia drivers v195.62, installed just before updating AmrA2. I'm thinking about changing the OS to Windows 7, maybe this new GTX cards are not fully supported by WinXP... ah, this is madness! -

Hi folks! Imagine what, I cannot install ACE2 mod!!!! That crappy updater v0.4.1 refuses to work at all and the developer site seems built to be read only by programmers or IT specialist. I cannot understand a single word. Any video or instruction posted anywhere presumes that the Six updater works, that is precisely my problem, infact: When I use the GUI, I got this message: ERROR: NO MIGRATION WITH VERSION NUMBER 2 Six updater site tells: If it doesn't please try surfing to: http://localhost:16333 or http://127.0.0.1:16333 ... too bad that both links are broken. Using the CONSOLE presume you have a cfg file that is created by using the the GUI... are we are again, it doesn't work! And there isn't any copy of that cfg file in the Dev site! Now, what am I supposed to do with the 600MB 7Z file of the ACE mod? Why the hell didn't they used the good old, simple method? Is it too simple for you guys? Big downloads are not a problem for us, remember we got through FFAR mod, ECP, LIBERATION 41-45, FDFmod, Pedagne mod, etc.... a new bunch of GB to download will not scare anyone. -
"Receiving" screen then nothing
paelleon replied to -Shifty-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
After installing patch 1.05, things are far better: my freezes/crashes with hard reset became this ridicolous RECEIVING issue. I can only play for less than 5 minutes, even in the armory, then i have a RECEIVING issue every minute of gameplay. I tried many graphic settings, but none solved the problem. This game is still unplayable for me.... after many months from its delivery... shameful. -
Any improvements to the preformance after 1.05?
paelleon replied to BF2_Trooper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I hadn't any freeze or CTD since now, but a lot of pauses and "receiving" messages. Performance seems worsened however. All my settings are on NORMAL, and visibility to 2500m -
How Satisfied with Arma2 Are you??
paelleon replied to mattyh1986's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have all BIS products. They are great, but you have to buy them at least 18 months after they are out in the shops. Since then.. play Flashpoint -
Artefacts and Graphic Bugs till crash Poll
paelleon replied to neojd[ny]'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi, thank you for your concern. :) Unfortunatly I did not checked the temperature that time. ARMA2 is the only game that give me problems. I still have installed all BIS game (yes, OFP too :D ) and the run like charm! What I can say Is that ARMA2 CTDs more often while switching to map. Oh, another question: is there a way to load the map without the textures, they takes ages to load, one map square at a time? Chartographic OFP style will be perfect, OFP interface was nearly perfect, why they changed it? My Video memory setting was always VERY HIGH (you see, with 1.7GB on the video card...), but I did not tried the Nvidia beta drivers yet. Supreme Commander (a true pain for the CPU and GPU) runs perfectly at 1680x1050. Oh, I have a 22'' LCD and this is the resolution for all my games, including ARMA2. -
EUREKA!! How to select color groups solved (undocumented).
paelleon replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hey, after installing patch 104 the SHIFT+F method of selecting teams doesn't work anymore! Now I only have that crap of COMMAND MODE+9+9+team color! Why the hell BIS complicated this while in OFP all was well with the simple 9+team (and 9+9+colour to assign team)!!!??? -

i have the same problem too. Especially when I use the map, it causes the game to freeze (an hard reset is needed since neither CTRL-ALT-CANC works anymore) or the image get all confused and bad colored. Look at this: http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=TsgRu2A All my drivers are updated, only the BIOS has one year. -
Hi, I agree completely. The LEFT-RIGHT... direction system of ARMA2 sucks. Replacing them with NORTH-EAST... or the OFP clock system will be enough to solve the problem. Unfortunatly not all people playing ARMA2 thinks to it as a problem, probably because they never played ARMA1 or OFP, so they never saw a better working system.:j: The reason why Bohemia changed a perfectly working system still evades me.
-
I have this problem too. I cannot dispaly the map for a long time or the game will crash and I must HARD RESET the whole PC. My game version is the latest 1.03. All drivers are updated. Is this problem solved by anyone? I serched the forum, but I found only this thread speaking about it.

Hmmm... do you think this way is more real? Personally I appreciated the shockwave sound a lot, it is a great feature of ArmA, realistic. I hear it every time I go to the firing range, when I'm changing the target. Do you think the radio messages from the team members are unrealistic? I know that not every army has a radio for every soldier, but they can always shout. In AmrA your soldiers cannot shout:"2 is down, sir!" or the much more useful "6 o'clock, enemy, tank, 500m!".
