seen it and in the grafics department it looks very prommising. But apart from that it really seems much like a pimped up arma. I really hope they are gonna show some real gameplay footage as i,m am becoming increasingly worried that it will be much like arma with a few interesting new features but not more

i wonder if there will be any large scale landing ops for the marines. For that you would need lcac,s and stuff but it would be really cool.

The thing is when you look at the team razor pdf on the site you can see that everybody in the team has completed the MACMAP training module. Macmap stands for marine corps martial arts programe. it includes every aspect of martial arts including knife,s and punches etc etc. Wouldnt it be cool if this was reflected to some extent into the game ? -
What kind of mission would we wanne see? Either be it in the campaing single player or community missions here is what i would love to see. Since we are playing as force recon i would love to see the missions special force oriented. 1 retreval of vip in conflict envirement. Think ala tears of the sun . Your team has to extract a vip . 2 direct action certain harrasing enemy forces 3 search and destroy. Destroy key members or the enemy forces 4 combat search and rescue. extract downed pilots or others allied personel behind enemu lines 5 forward observer / guiding laser guided bombs onto certain targets with a laser pointer 6 deep recon. 7 extracting civilian personel from a certain area to prevent genocide 8 bomb damage essement. feel free to add more.

I,m not convinced about this " new " AI in arma 2. I,ve studied all the youtube/movie material out there in is was really spooked esspecially by the gc 2008 that the AI is almost the same in arma. For starters the animations seem to be almost the same with a few new things added. The AI still goes MAN 5 O-CLOCK .. IS .. HISTORY . And stuff. I dont hope the main characters in the campaign wont communicate like this becuase it would be a real immersion killer. There still seems to be this arcade hud with the arcade radar in arma2. Destoyed tanks still look weird when detroyed. All in All i thought arma 2 was a completely new enigine but i start to see its mostly based in arma which spooks me to say at leasts. The only thing that would be worth something to base something on in arma was the grafics but even that had flaws. I just hope we wont get another visual stunning game but with the retarted and often childish gameplay of arma again.

I,m really looking forward to this game so i desided to install arma on my new machine i bought since it was a little slow on my old machine. But after playing it i was as dissapointed with arma as i was with my old machine. Thought it ran smooth i still noticed missing textures , The AI as stupid as can be , how unrealistic the campaign was and i just desided to stopp playing it becuase it was more frustrating then enjoyable. Anyway looking at arma 2 it looks promissing and the grafics look great , But then again so did arma grafic wise. I just hope arma 2 is gonna be more realistic and injoyable then arma ever was. I,m kinda hoping it would be a revolutunairy as ofp was when i first played it.

What do you think will we get it? I never seen any real air or artillery support in arma or ofp at least not like you could apoint some coordinates in the map to tell where you wanted support. I mean i would like to have to arty support for when i really need it or some a-10,s taking care of some pesky tanks. Or a mission in the campaign to laser guide a bomb with a laser pointer on a target

I really dont mind to much if armor warfare isnt that detailed in arma2 . Afterall the game is based on the marine force recon. I dont intend to climb in a tank every time i get the chance. Sure it would be nice if they improved it a bit when you do have to face tanks. But hey i got steel beasts pro and if you really want a sim that simulates all the systems of armor in detail greater than you can imagine then buy steel beasts pro! its not availible in stores and costs 125 us dollars. But hey look at the bright side its real militairy software in use by many armies aroud the world!

What i,m wondering is do you have to play high command once you get to in the game? For example if you wish to focus on your team will the AI do the high command.

Same here in i never invisioned hand to hand combat to be arcadish and thus undermines reality. It would not be a show stopper for me either but i think if done well then arma 2 could be even more groundbreaking then it allready seems to be! -
How come the arma 2 website has so few updates. Its been months since any updates

Please add some very basic hand to hand combat to this game. It doesnt have to be any chuck norris nonsense but some very basic moves would be cool. I mean there are almost no combat units today that are not trained it some kind of martial arts. esspecially the usmc force recon are experts in hand to hand combat and i have yet to see this is any game. If this is not doable then please at least add a knife to the weapons. I just still miss this in to many wargames.

I really dont understand the hostility towards the whole idea. After all in real life hand to hand combat is something the usmc is trained in quite alot. So adding it to the game would only be simulating a usmc training for the team right? Some people seem to see this as a threat for some reason. I mean its not like some basic hand to hand , melee or a knife is gonna make this sim unrealistic? I mean those who think so should take a real good look at the usmc training program. -

Surely you are seeing it the wrong way. What would be better drop main weapon and go to side arm? Or drop main weapon and go to sidearm and if nessesairy got to knife as last resort? -

hmm...hollywood much? Knife kill is pretty much NEVER silent. It's more likely to alarm everybody. The victim will choke, scream from pain, release a lot of blood. it's a mess, and it's more effecient to just a hit a bullet in the head. Just like the spetsnaz did during the estrade rescue situation in russia back in the years. It was close-combat, but they never used a knife, just bullet to the head with a silencer. Really the trick to take someone out with a knife is not to cut there throat. It cutting the a blood vain running from the side of the neck to the shoulder. you bleed to death in less then 1 minute cutting of the blood supply to the brain and you wont have time to scream. This is what chris ryan wrote in one of his books about the stuff he learned with the sas -

Its not so much bringing a gun to a knife fight. Its should be used as a last resort. I mean i have had situations in arma where i just was left with nothing exept an empty gun when hiding out in a house and suddenly the AI managed to sneak in fully armed. Would be nice to actually use my empty m4 even though i was out of ammo. And still i think a knife would come in handy from time to time or some basic hand to hand combat when it gets really face to face. I train wing chun and its a style trained to many armed forces around the world. And there is a reason marines train in hand to hand combat. And since i consider this a simulaton based on the marine force recon there at least should be something that represents this in the game.
