  1. No anti-cheat system in the world is going to help ArmA when you can "hack" with a simple hex editor and the server accepts everything the client tells it. Good security comes from good design. And even with the best design and the best anti-cheat system there is going to be hackers. So really, the best defence is a good admin.
  2. Hello, I'm running a dedicated Linux server and I'm having a problem with Battleye+Gamespy. The former actually loads fine: 2:10:47 Dedicated host created. 2:10:47 BattlEye Server: Initialized (v1.126) Plays fine. And I can even rcon into it fine. However, the server browser says I have Battleye disabled. Any ideas what's wrong? I don't want my server not showing up because people have it to only show Battleye enabled servers.
  3. Ugh, I just spent two hours trying to customize the default mission parameters in Warfare BE using class Params { }; before I realized this only seems to work in Arrowhead+ (using vanilla 1.10). So how did people do it in the darktimes? Do I need to depbo the mission and edit parameters.hpp?

    Improved Command System

I don't think there really is a solution to the current system in first person mode without butchering features. I think a major improvement would able to select / control units in the map and issue orders there. Of course that'll obviously be rebuffed by "purists" who'll label it to RTSy, which is a shame. Think Close Combat rather than Starcraft. Not even asking for a 3d overview or anything like that, just the map we have now with the ability to command from there. That would be just as realistic if not more and it'd significantly add to usability.
  5. Hello, I'm a long time lurker (actually since before 2005, that's just when I decided to create an account). When comparing ArmA to say, CoD or Battlefield, it's pretty clear which feels more realistic, but what do you attribute this to? I don't think you can honestly say it's the tank / helicopter / plane physics & weapon systems, can you? Those don't seem vastly better than Battlefield to me. Feel free to disagree there. I think it's primarily attributable to: You die easily. The vastness makes dying SUCK, especially when you just travelled for five minutes. It fosters an entirely different mentality. While tanks and planes and helicopters aren't really realistic on their own there is an interaction between them that's missing in most other games. Disagree entirely? Other points?
