I have ARMA: Combat Operations North American version. Downloaded the 1.06 to 1.08 update from Gamershell. I have no extra addons except Evolution 1.5, which is really only a mission. during the patching process i got the following errors: Error found in file AddOns\Anims.pbo (073214a6!=750f8e66) Error found in file AddOns\misc.pbo (9472a65b!=f7155af0) Update 1.06-1.08\ADDONS\ANIMS.PBO.UPD cannot be applied, error xdelta3 returned error code: 1 Update 1.06-1.08\ADDONS\ANIMS.PBO.UPD cannot be applied, error xdelta3 returned error code: 1 Update 1.06-1.08\ADDONS\MISC.PBO.UPD cannot be applied, error xdelta3 returned error code: 1 Now as you can guess, i've noticed some broken animations... including troops standing about in "crane stance"... yup... right out of Karate Kid. *Sigh* ... why me...

Why is it impossible to find this game in Canada?
ns_kossak replied to oblisk's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Took me a weeks worth of touching base over the phone, and then 20 minutes worth of driving to buy my copy in Halifax. One EB location said they had 2 copies, so my roommate and i BOOTED it to the downtown core to buy them both up, and when we got there, the useless stoned clerk could only find an opened display copy, despite the fact their inventory showed 2 in stock. If the clerk bothered to put down the bag of Cheetos and use both hands to search i probably wouldnt have to call him utterly useless. Anyway. Eventually got MY copy in-store. Roommate and a buddy ordered theirs online from EB and had it mailed, and arrived about 4 days later. Stock is low because none of the EB stores know about the game. they figure its gonna be a low-seller..... someone ought to tell them that this is the sequel to a best-seller. I dont think Cheeto-boy would give much of a damn though -
thank god. good riddance to bad rubbish. i was wondering where the mods were. Good to see the "Placebo Effect" still carries some weight I like the breathing idea. i think that was the most innovative idea "America's Army" put forth in their game (the rest of it, sadly, was mostly tripe and a blatant recruiting tool...moving on..) I also like the the idea of 3d sights. hopefully it'll include the benefits (heh.. would it be a benefit? maybe i should just say the "effect") of headshake and fatigue instability. I also REALLY like the idea of adjustable sights (not so much in terms of elevation and windage, but moreso the zoom to bring the ironsights closer or farther away depending on the F.O.V required) I'm dying here. i need this game to come out soon. Nothing holds my interest anymore. wasnt it supposed to be out by the end of Q3?

Armed Assault - development suggestions to BIS
ns_kossak replied to theavonlady's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
May i suggest, assuming it hasn't been already: A group savegame function, to be used in multiplayer. Especially in long coop missions, or CTI games that can last 8 hours or more. make it server-side optional, so if you want to maintain the ABSOLUTE pure-server realism, you can, or you can make it a bit more user-friendly and give the group a chance to save their spot if they are fatigued/in a crucial turning point in the mission. I think it would be very useful. Set a limit to the number of saves if you like. Personally i think you should only be able to save a max of 3 times. -
Having just got back into the game a few months ago i've been looking around for good user missions. I discovered Airborne and Facile Ground by Sui a few days ago and was totally blown away. I'm about to try Wrestling with the Bear. Is Suicide still actively making missions? still play at all? Is there somewhere that i can find more missions by him? Because i'm totally blown away by the ambience and complexity of his missions. they're works of art.

Playing CTI a few weeks ago i managed to clip the tail rotor of an Mi17 (may have had troops in it, not sure) with a LAW as it flew over me.. it was probably around 400m away by the time it got hit.... then it crashed on top of a BMP loaded with troops. and not 5 seconds later a T80 put me into low orbit.

c'mon out to Nova Scotia and we'll talk.

Thanks sanctuary. thats actually all gold. I took a chance yesterday and installed the everon mfcti coop files, and proceeded to play a 7 hour game against the AI... Longest game i've ever done in one sitting... it was ultimately a stalemate. we'd banter back and forth over a few central towns, taking and retaking them for hours. My chopper skills are back Since my internet is FUBAR lately, i'm just going to focus on learning the ropes in offline mode until my connection stabilizes. I'd like to keep the "addons" to a bare minimum for the time being, and just play outta the box to get the feel for stuff.

Hey all. I just finally got my copy of GOTY, and now i'd like to get back into the multiplayer aspect. I've done some searches on here about MFCTI, but in none of my search results have i found out what files to download, or where to put em. I found the MFcti web page, and i noticed there are Everon Everon Coop Malden malden Coop Do i have to download ALL of them? or am i to choose between everon or everon coop? The documentation on the site only seems to relate to actual gameplay.. and not installation... so even when/if i download something, i dont know where to put em anymore... i've been out of the loop for QUITE a while. ... and the version numbers are 1.6 or something. A lot of the servers i see running mfcti are 1.5 (though at this point i'm only using the in-game browser, i havnt bothered with ASE yet).. is this significant? are the versions backwards compatible? As you can tell, i have no shortage of questions. I dont expect this thread to stay unlocked for long. i can foresee a bunch of links being thrown at me that may or may not help, but maybe that will be enough. If someone wants to private message me some relevant info, or arrange a meet on Teamspeak or something so they can walk me through some of the steps, thats really all i need. Thanks in advance.

My game arrived today. i'm happy happy happy. The Ebay vendor i mentioned before is called "pauxpaux" and they are based in the US. Georgia to be specific. It took 11 days for it to reach me in Canada, which seems quite quick considering border delays, and i'm twitching with anticipation. I just played the included Helo missions, and realized that i'm only a LITTLE rusty. i can still fly circles around most baddies.

Meh. i have a weeks vacation coming up starting the 20th. Assuming my game's here by then, i'll be more than happy to stay up to an inhumane hour for the mere purpose of blowing stuff up.

I cant wait to try the CTI variants. Some of you guys will have to educate me on the use of addon packs once my game arrives, and take me on a CTI excursion.

Keep in mind that i've not played OFP in a few years now, i'm waiting on my newly acquired copy to arrive in the mail... But i'll take you back to 2002..or 03... i cant remember exactly.. There was a time when I and about 8 of my local friends would play OFP for literally an entire day. Sometimes we would even decide to LAN, but even when we would remote connect, we'd use voice comms of some sort, i think roger wilco was big back then... or battlecomm... one or the other. Anyway. 2 members of our crew were real computer wizards, and seemed to really have a good handle on the mission-making aspect, so they would frequently spend a week preparing a mission for our next "session". One mission in particular that i remember, was on Nogova. It was a night Special Ops mission, and we'd start off on an island staging area with a campfire in the middle of base. Pitch black, not a star to be seen in the sky, and i seem to remember fog. Anyway, our objective was to pile into choppers and travers the ocean between our little piece of real estate to the main island, and proceed inland toward the northern side of the main mountain region (that is nogova right? i'm trying desperately to remember) Our objective was to assault and destroy an armour depot and its perhipheral support including fuel trucks etc. basically stuff that made really pretty booms in the dark So. for us to use, there were 2 blackhawks, and 3 cobra choppers. We opted to leave one of the cobras behind, and piled in to the remainder of the choppers. we had the blackhawks loaded up with mostly AI in the back, with real players in the drivers and gunners positions. real players occupied both positions in the cobras, with me piloting one of them, and my good buddy in the nose. We spin up the rotors, having taken enough RPG's, satchels, and ammo to invade a small 3rd world nation. We start heading in a rough bearing toward our target, in a pseudo finger-four formation, with the 'Hawks on point, and the cobra's back slightly supporting the flanks on either end. I make the reccomendation that we keep it low just to try and avoid drawing any attention to ourselves, so we drop to about 100 feet and keep going. At this point my friend, the maker of the mission, asks over the mics if we remembered our life preservers.... which correct me if i'm wrong... is generally a BAD sign coming from the map maker, who obviously knows whats coming..... I swear at him, and tell the pilots to drop to 30 feet. So we are barreling over open water, coming up towards the shore, at 30 feet in the pitch dark, with whoevers riding shotgun telling us "eta to landfall..... 10 secs".... At this point we're all as paranoid as cats in a room full of rocking chairs, because Fong (the mission maker) can have a flair for the dramatic at times... and loves to just throw in nasty little suprises that'll bite you in the ass.. We cross over land... still in formation, literally watching treetops whip past the cockpits. Radio chatters coming in from our other guys saying that they "cant see shit" or "what did you get us into fong?"... just general whoops and hollers being backseat drivers etc. And then all hell breaks loose. I see a dot on my radar. a red one. i know whats gonna happen next.... then the flashes from the surface off in the distance.. the incoming tracer fire the sound of inpacts off to my left. I move my joystick hat to the 10oclock position to see whats happening, our number 3 bird, one of the blackhawks, explodes in a flash. My comms open up in a series of screams and curse words a the empty shell of the chopper plummets, suprisingly chasing a few parachutes of our friends who were quick enough to bail before the thing torched. I target the shilka and let rip with a TOW, satisfied when i see the secondary explosion. my gunner decides to pummell it a little with the cannon.. what the hell... they know we're here. Myself and the other cobra fly support as our other blackhawk pilot circles, and sets down in a clearing to pick up our survivors, and we fly further inland. we decide to loosen up a bit and jink toward the target. Some enemy with AI decides to use our choppers for strela target practice, and narrowly misses the other blackhawk.... the cobras find a whole squad of them with our headlights, and blow them FFAR FFAR away Being fairly close to our target now, we have several shilkas lacing into us, and we make a snap decision to set down in a nearby clearing, and move on foot. the blackhawk touches down first. i fire off a few TOWS at the shilkas between us and the target, and the other cobra riffles a few FFAR's into the nearby hillside as be both try to put ourselves down gently.... not so much... I make it... barely. My other cobra pilot was less fortunate, and got clipped by a shilka as he was crossing the tree canopy line, the impact pushing him into a nearby tree. boom. We're pretty close to the depot, so the few of us that remain (4 or 5 of us, plus our AI retards) start humping towards the target. i head toward high ground with my sniper rifle, with my former copilot beside me to help cover. the rest flank to the right. THe town is well lit, and when i arrive, i provide some recon to our guys where the weakest defended side is. our team circles and holds their fire. Our guys move in through the bushes, prone, and starts planting satchels next to fuel trucks, and one underneath a running T80 ( my friend who did this was making strange whimpering noises over comms as he did this. occasionally the gun turret would swivel and you'd hear "OHHHHH GOD.... nononononnoo.... *whew*") ANYWAY. most of the satchels had been placed next to things that could fight back, and the rest of our group was in the treeline with their law's shouldered and ready to plaster anything that blinked at them funny. our demo team retreated a safe distance and set off the satchels. that was everyones que to start shooting. I start picking people off with my M21, my buddy to my right lobs a LAW at a fuel tank that takes a squad of russians out as it goes up... We see several rockets fly into town from the other side as all our AI fire off law rockets. our demo teams start ripping into enemies who are just starting to shoulder their rifles.. Total mayhem ensues for about 20 seconds as we expend round after round. A lot of our AI dies as they decide to be retarded (suprise....) and run headlong into the center of town as we pummel it with gunfire and rockets, and a few of our real players get toasted by fluke gunfire from the flank that nobody had a line of fire on. We eventually mop up the entire town, outta rockets.... we had hoped for a "mission complete" message... but no... instead, we all die at the same time, as while we're waiting in the same spot, trying to figure out if we missed someone, we are oblivious to the sound of rotors overhead.... and get plastered with FFARs from an mi17. By far the most fun i'd ever had with my friends playing OFP... and we enjoyed kicking Fong's ass afterwards for neglecting to tell us about the enemy chopper. I wanna play OFP so bad right now....

I guess i'll also be a dork and signal my return to the OFP way of life... I was into it back in the days of the demo, and when CWC came out... and i played a lot of single player and multiplayer when resistance came out on my friends systems. Just yesterday i tracked down a copy of OFP : GOTY on Ebay, supposedly brand new from some place in Georgia USA. Hard to find it in Canada at all, in fact i've spent 2 months just tryng to find a local copy... Anyway, hopefully i'll be joining in on these games again very very soon. I was, once upon a time, a deadly chopper pilot, not to be trifled with by any means ... hopefully i'll regain my aeronautical splendor from days of olde! And Rambi, i'm in total agreement with you over the sheer bulk of addons, mission/weapon/vehicle packs, campaigns, conversion kits and whatnot that are now available. It's totally mind boggling that there is so much out there. There have to be a few "Staple" packages that a poor bugger like me can download and self-extract... some definative compilations that will enable us to join a lot of the servers? Because i highly doubt anyone is still running a bare-bones OFP: R server anymore right? I doubt i'll be able to install the game, update it to the latest version, and then BAM, off an play? Last time i played, This CTI format you guys rave about was only JUST starting to come out. i think i played 2 half-game sessions of it before i lost access to OFP entirely. I remember it being fun as all hell though. I'm definately looking forward to some people showing me the ropes once my game arrives.

ok so its been pretty well a whole month since i came on here complaining that i couldnt find OFP: GoTY anywhere. I emailed codemasters USA to ask about the games ability through them, (since neither the minisite nor the main site has the option to buy it through them directly) this is an exerpt from what i recieved: So i guess Codemasters was having some technical difficulties on their own. Anyway, today, finally, i bit the bullet and used the "buy it now" option on Ebay, from some place in Georgia with 100% positive feedback. Hopefully it will arrive sometime before OFP2 comes out after all the trouble i've gone through to get my hands on this game, it better be even more fun than i remember it being! (I know it will be... i miss OFP so much ) When/if i get the game delivered and they prove trustworthy, i'll post the seller's information in here, so others can possibly follow suit. I still find it strange that getting a game from Codemasters directly is like pulling teeth.. i was practically waving my fist of money saying "someone take my money"... and nobody jumped. anyway. more to come as the situation progresses.
