What do you guys think about the idea of being able to re-enact battles / war missions that have recently happened? Husseins sons were only recently killed and already Kuma war lets you play through that very mission. I think it's a great idea, but at the same time I wonder if some people find it offensive. Re-enacting a war that happened decades ago is one thing, but this kind of technology has never been possible before, so I can't help but wonder if it's going to raise any issues. Opinions?

My list of shooting games is fast becoming formidable.  This is definitely my favorite genre now and I’m now completely obsessed with owning all of the best shooters out there.  There are a few that I am considering: 1. Dead To Rights (http://www.deadtorights.com/) ~ this has been re-released for about 20 bucks as a “classic†of shooters and is often compared to Max Payne.  It also just came out on PC, so I'm curious to see how it compares to the Xbox version. 2. Half-Life (http://half-life.sierra.com/) ~ I'm already excited about HL2 just from reading about it.. But I never played the original on console or PC. 3. True Crime (http://www.activision.com/microsite/truecrime/) ~ now that it's out I've heard mostly disappointing opinions.  Hope it's not as bad as what I've seen people say so far. So those are a few of the ones I’m looking at right now.  Any feedback would be cool.  Also, I have listed below all the shooters I already own and others I plan to get.  Shooters I Have: XBOX: Ghost Recon Kill Switch Halo Splinter Cell 007 Nightfire The Thing Hitman 2 Time Splitters 2 Unreal Championship Max Payne Indiana Jones: Emperor’s Tomb Return To Castle Wolfenstein Enter The Matrix Brute Force Conflict: Desert Storm PS2: GTA3 GTA Vice City SOCOM Navy Seals Medal of Honor Frontline The Getaway Metal Gear Solid 2 Time Splitters Unreal Tournament Gamecube: Metroid Prime Resident Evil Zero Sum Of All Fears PC: Max Payne 2 NOLF2 Call Of Duty TRON 2.0 Mafia RTCW Tides of War Medal Of Honor Allied Assault / Spearhead Battlefield 1942 / Road To Rome Soldier of Fortune 2 Vietcong Rainbow Six 3 Iron Storm Redneck Rampage Tomb Raider III Shooters to get: Halo 2 S.T.A.L.K.E.R. MOH Rising Sun Far Cry SOCOM 2 DOOM 3 Half Life 2 S.W.A.T. Global Strike Team DX: Invisible War Metal Gear Solid 3 Hitman 3

Badgerboy, they delayed HL2? For how long? Will it still be out before Christmas? Dauragon, Dead To Rights is a good game isn't it? I mean, despite the fact that you're saying it doesn't necessarily offer anything 'new', would you still say it's worth playing? I've heard a lot of good things about it. It gets compared to Max Payne a lot, but some people think it actually has more to offer in some areas than Max Payne. Alright, I'm just going to get all three of these then. I've heard great things about all three of them, so why not just get them all. Besides, with Christmas coming up, anything I can't get for myself, well... Santa will pick up the rest!

I see what you mean. Â Thanks for explaining that ~ so simple, and yet I don't think I really put my finger on it before. Â Now I'm going to look for that more often. Â Halo, is definitely not prescripted. Â Battlefield 1942 isn't scripted. Â MOHAA is definitely heavy in scripting, like you said. Â I still have a lot of fun playing that game though. Â Kill Switch definitely won't be scripted. Â In fact, I'm excited to see what the enemies are like in that game. Â From reading the description of the A.I. capabilities, it should be pretty challenging.

Yeah, that's a good point ~ was Half-Life's A.I. really any good or just heavily scripted? One thing is for certain; either way, they only had about 3 bot models throughout the whole game! I'm sure HL2 won't be like that. Apparently the A.I. in Kill Switch is going to be quite sophisticated. The enemy will use all of the same tactics available to you, including cover and blindfire, but also communicate and work as teams to take you down.

Er, um, I mean collection.  I recently added OPF to my rapidly growing arsenal of shooting games.  This is fast becoming my favorite genre and I’m now completely obsessed with owning all of the best shooters out there.  There are a few that I am considering: 1. Dead To Rights (http://www.deadtorights.com/) ~ this is going to be re-released for about 20 bucks as a “classic†of shooters and is said to be similar to Max Payne.  They’re also porting it to PC, but I think I want the Xbox version of this. 2. Half-Life (http://half-life.sierra.com/) ~ I'm already excited about HL2 just from reading about it.. But I never played the original on console or PC. 3. No One Lives Forever 2 (http://nolf2.sierra.com/) ~ this is only for PC right now.  I wasn’t that impressed by the first NOLF on PS2, but I’m thinking that the PC sequel will have much better graphics. So those are the three I’m looking at right now.  Any suggestions?

MoH:AA follows the Half-Life heritage in that it is a "story-line fps", but other than that... If we were to discuss "enjoyable games based on a Hollywood-induced hype", the MoH franchise would fit in fine. Â KillSwitch, I can't help but wonder if you named yourself after the upcoming game, or if they just happened to create a game with the same name as yourself... (http://www.killswitch.com/)

Which shooting games do you think have raised the bar and why do you pick them specifically? Are there any future shooters coming out that you think will raise the bar even higher?

btw, has anyone had a chance to try out the new Splinter Cell extras (http://www.splintercell.com/us) for PS2 and Gamecube yet? Â I'm curious as to what they're like graphically and control-wise compared to XBOX and if the extras are worth checking out.

Sorry about my too-big-sig in my now locked previous topic! Â Won't do it again. Anyway, I'm a shooter fan and different shooters have different weapons that I wish were in ALL shooters. Â For example: Nightfire - EVERY shooter should have these camera-guided rockets. Watching your enemy through the missle's eye as they see your missle coming straight for them... priceless. Splinter Cell - I love this guys trip mines. Set them up in a doorway and hide behind a crate or two as the enemy comes running in to find you and.... BLAM, they burst into flames and collapse to the floor. Return to Castle Wolfenstein - the minigun in this game is too cool.. it spins for a second or two, then a rainstorm of bullets comes out, shredding the nazis into bloody chunks after about two or three seconds of firing. Great sniper scopes too - get you up REAL close and steady to the target. HALO - ALL the human weapons in this game are awesome. Set your multiplayer vs. to a slayer game with all human weapons, all vehicles, unlimited grenades and no radar. I call it "Slayer Raw". These are all the shooters I have total, most of which have outstanding weapons: XBOX: Ghost Recon Halo Splinter Cell 007 Nightfire Hitman 2 Time Splitters 2 Unreal Championship Max Payne Return To Castle Wolfenstein PS2: GTA3 GTA Vice City SOCOM Navy Seals Medal of Honor Frontline The Getaway Metal Gear Solid 2 Time Splitters Unreal Tournament Quake 3 Revolution Gamecube: Metroid Prime PC: Operation Flashpoint Battlefield 1942 Soldier Of Fortune Mechwarrior What are some of your favorite shooter weapons from your shooter collection?
