    Terminator MOD?

Terminator is one of those sci fi series that I feel would actually fit the engine fairly well, despite the various limitations of the engine. I've seen effective laser rifles in addons (for plasma weapons) truck mounted weaponry for the human resistance, and harrier type flight for the AHK's. There's even animated dobermans in game which someone could turn into Terminator-seeking german shepherds. Any physics related limitations to the engine aren't particularly relevant, since they affect all mods (and so far, all of the Terminator games have been mediocre at best, horrible at worst) Starship Troopers, Aliens, Space Above and Beyond, Star Gate and V are the other sci fi shows that would fit well in the engine, and most of them are in the works... i'll be tackling the V one myself, since it's painfully easy to accomplish in the short term.
  2. This is a case of 'if it aint broke, dont try to fix it' but I finally got to the point where I had a useable and stable island with grass textures working and the whole shabang. But then i tried to add a tree, and found out I didn't have the tree models in the data3d folder, looked there, and there were only a handful of p3d files... same with the 'data' folder, where there were only a handful of 'paa' files... I have no idea where these came from, but everything seemed to work well up to this point. I subsequently extracted the data.pbo and data3d.pbo from the DTA folder of ofp, using PBOTOOL copied them over, and got the error message 'cannot load texture \data\zatazeno.pac'... this texture is very much in the data folder of bulldozer. I've tried a wide variety of location combinations, and it comes up with the same error, which doesn't allow bulldozer to run at all. This is probably a common error, but I wasn't able to find it specifically while searching. EDIT: Sorry, I was using PBOTool, I checked out PBOX just a few minutes ago, and lo and behold, everything works now ;)

    Multiplayer menu crashing

Not even having established any sort of connection, my OFP locks up the moment I hit the OK button after putting an Ip address in the remote connection box. Last time I played resistance (a few months ago) it worked... now it does not. I'm using 1.91, I have a dsl connection and the game plays perfectly in single player. Any ideas?

I didn't have a firewall installed when this error occurred... haven't tried it since I put this router in. Nevertheless, until then, my problem stands.

    Female soldier

I think that Operation Northstar should take a look at this addon, and consider contacting cassandra for it's inclusion... Canada can't afford to discriminate in it's army. In direct comment to this addon, I think it looks very well done, and hope to be able to test it out soon.

Who would like to see a futuristic type mod?

I respawned it with my timely referral to a V mod. Nevertheless, Dune would be an excellent mod... the soldiers are mostly just soldiers, the tanks are tanks and the planes are planes. Of course simulating a sandworm attack would be a sight to see.

    Women in uniform

I know that some militaries such as that of the USA bars women in active combat duty, but *shrugs* they have the luxury of being able to do that. My warm, fuzzy army of choice certainly doesn't bar women in such roles, and can't, especially with the low recruiting numbers that Canada's been experiencing. I would definitely love to see such a model. I'm just not sure how different a woman in the army would look from a man *shrugs* most of the women I've met in the CF have been pretty rugged, strong women who could snap me in half with their hands. Or at least the NCO women. Suffice it to say... women in army good. Definitely good. So they should be in ofp too. And they will be.

Mankind against The Visitors. White shuttles and red/black-colored troopers with laser guns. But a V mod would definitely be neat... now that I know how to retexture... ooh... ooooooooh!!!!

I'm not privvy to all these european cars, but they certainly look very well done. I Shall download, and hope that I get my student loan. I dont know if these new addons or my new geforce 4 will make me grovel more.

    Diemaco c7a1 released, and....

Wow, I need to find some book or something, you weapon guys are hardcore. Nevertheless, it's an impressive sounding addon, and I've already downloaded it. Now all I need is my student loan, and to fire off an email to my favourite hardware supplier for that Geforce 4 so I can test it out (poor computer has no video card) I've been waiting a long time for such an addon. The best I've done is an original C7. Hooray! *claps*

I'm currently using the old model taiwan workshop M240's and M249's for C6's and C9's, with altered sounds and name changes (and normal/adverse replacing 700/1000). Credit is always awarded. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"> The C6 has 3 gas settings. Diemaco c7a1 about to be released

Well that just totally destroys my c7 model. Mind you mine is still 2d right now. I shall have to give credit where credit is due once I implement such a weapon with my beloved CF soldiers.

    M249 mg pack

Alrighty, I dont know about american weaponry in nearly as much detail as I do that of the Canadian forces, so I'm going on what I know from the CF. The FN Minimi (m249) which we call the C9 LMG has a scope attached (identical to the Diemaco C7's scope as a matter of fact -- I believe anyhow) and has two types of fire, Normal and Adverse, which rougly corresponds to 700 rpm and 1000 rpm (adverse being muddy conditions that necessitate the forcing of more rounds to achieve similar results to normal fire... at least that's what I gathered) The FN Mag (the american M240) which we call the C6 GPMG is a 7.62 beast that fires about 700 rounds a minute and does not have 700/1000 selection option. I believe it also has a scope in our C6 form. Again, this is just ranting from the canadian side of things, being a nation of peace loving, scope-wanting people. Plus we do things a little different up here with out variable rate SAW's and our too-heavy-to-fire-while-standing FN MAGS. I will certainly love this addon.

    Why no american units?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Some Canadian Snipers with those big McMillan .50 cal rifles and C7's would be sweet! I shall have to do more research, since I had trouble finding accurate and non-contradictory information on the C2 or c3... whatever it's called... I have a c7 made, which sadly is just an m16 with autofire and a superior sound... as well as a c6 and c8 (both taiwan workshop mods with my 'superior' and distinct sounds, and less confusing names for standard and adverse fire for the c9). I have such high hopes for my mod, but I tend to get a bit big headed about things, with unwieldy plans like making unique cap badges, rank insignia and such. I still can't retexture the Uh1 Huey... damnit, I'll have to search for solutions to the whole 'overflow' error when I load things in texview. Canadians need griffons. And someone mentioned a LAV that's been developed? I'm sure I'm getting my hopes up too high, or that the person's verb tenses were a bit off, but still... lav *grovels*

    Addonmakers don't be lazy!

Here's the lowdown: 1.46 Sucks 1.75 Rocks I like busses. And motorcycles. And sounds that suck slightly less than original ofp equivalents. And nicer graphics. And netcode that doesn't crash my computer every chance it gets. I also like kitties, but that's the canadian forces shining through.

    C130 finally released

For those who say that C130's dont use camo, I see C130's at least 4 or 5 times a day, making their lovely buzzing sound right over my town. While these are canadian C130's, dare I say hath not a hercules propellors, hath not a hercules lumbering profile, and hath not a hercules camouflage pattern. We canucks may not put camo on much of anything, but our herc's have them often. I dont beg for modifications though, because I make them myself, and I will make one, for my canadian forces, with their often scary lack of camo, need a transport plane. Now all they need is a Lav, and some outdated 'high tech' frigates that sink when you give them dirty looks.

    Why no american units?

Well, I seem to have quite a number of american units, perhaps too many. I could spout some crapola about not having any canadian units, but of course, the bout of anti-canadianism and such is cutting down on the number of such addons heh heh

I think Canada used the FN Fal before the C7... it was called the C1 rifle, and was complemented by the strangely named C1 submachine gun... I'm not up on my CF historical weapons though, so I only have third party, non official evidence of this. mmm... looking for the FN Mag some more...

    Ofp santa's weapon wish list

As for this talk about the C7 and C7 and stuff being Canadian, I'm sure it is, though I was in the CF Infantry, and my sergeant in QL3 told us that the C7 was a swedish sort of deal, though the scope was ours. But I guess part time sergeants who are full time mechanics can be wrong sometimes heh heh. Nevertheless, There is a canadian forces addon coming out called Operation Northstar, and there's always mine which I've been somewhat quietly hammering away at. My biggest problem is retexturing a Huey right now, cause the texture swap utility overflows when I try to open it. I'll look for some solutions in the mean time, but know that the CF Infantry are looking fairly good in my opinion (I have helmet and beret combinations in both the green combats, and CADPAT camo) My weapons wish list is as follows: *An FN MINIMI or C9 Light Machine Gun WITH the optical sight attached (SOP in canadian weapons) * A proper C7, with scope and NO carrying handle/iron sight. * Timed grenades, though they may already exist... I've never used an impact frag grenade before, and I dont think we have such items in the CF. *The C3 Sniper Rifle, which has some Browning or some other company equivalent *The C6 GPMG, which is a 7.62 FN machine gun My vehicles wish list: *Cougar APC *A BV206, though it's a weird looking hinged 4 tracked NBC vehicle that would be a pain to model. *LAV 25, LAV III *HLVW, HLVW, LSWV Trucks (CF trucks dont look anything like american equivalents, they look like they were made out of green tin foil, but never seem to fall apart) *Some self-propelled artillery like the M109 and such *The Westland Sea King Helicopter *and to a MUCH lesser extent, an F/A 18 Hornet. I want a LAV!!! *has a temper tantrum, stomping all over* I want it, I want it, I want it.

    Planes for ofp

As much as I love planes (and consequently know infinitely more about them than I do the tools of my former trade, the infantry), and as much as I will continue to download them and enjoy them, they're really hard to integrate into an op flashpoint battlefield, because most modern jets go extremely fast. even the B52 would probably skim over Nogova in 10-15 seconds. I dont want a B52 damnit, I want a LAV25, an HLVW truck, and a properly scoped C7, without the carrying handle/iron sight to be seen anywhere. Still, keep up the good work, and I will continue downloading... and if someone makes an F/A 18, then Canadian air support in Op Flashpoint can be expanded beyond my improperly retextured Huey -> Griffon.

    What about a flare pistol...

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I always thought this works just as nice (in the init line of your unit): removeallweapons this;this addmagazine "flare";this addmagazine "flare";this addmagazine "flare";this addweapon "glock";<span id='postcolor'> Not sure why this line of code wouldn't work now if it ever worked before, since Resistance hasn't gone through any patches (and if it has, I dont have any)... it simply doesn't work But the flare gun idea is an excellent idea... it's occurred to me, especially in designing my Canadian forces officer units, who are generally equipped with such devices (or a self contained flare unit)
  25. The C7 is actually a Danish or Swedish or somethingerother variant of the M-16, we canucks just claim it for our own for some reason (possibly cause it's our main assault rifle, and it has that telling 'c' on it). At least we were told it was Danish or Swedish. The canadian addition to it is the night assisted scope that is a required standard on all of our rifles, machine guns and carbines. We could just as easily claim the C9 LMG, but it's the same deal, an import of an import (of an import?) that is pretty tops(though after seing our C6 GPMG in action, I thought the C9 was pretty mild). *shrugs* They are definitely called c7's and c8's and c9's, and would be called this most likely irregardless (because we've used c prefixes on our weapon names since our armed forces were fully patriated after ww2). It just fits well It's good to know that lots of countries use the c7's and c9's though (including the esteemed new zealand whose nation I will be making addons for)... picking better functioning and more economical combat weapons would be hard to do heh heh, mostly kidding. A question... do the new zealand soldiers have standard monotone combat fatigues? I realize that soldiers generally wear camo in combat situations, but this isn't always the case (and quite frankly, I never actually saw a canadian cadpat uniform during my time in the reserves, and I was involved in training operations in many ontario training camps and CFB's) Also wonderring if I should implement the former standard canadian and new zealand radios, considered antiques as early as 1970. Maybe have the battery fall out at random, or someone die of exhaustion having been forced to hump it for 10 miles
