I think I've found another bug. After installing a Windows Update to Windows XP I was unable to start Flashpoint. After rolling back the update Flashpoint would run again. Guess I'll have to go without the update for now... I'm running Flaspoint with the latest patch (v1.46). Here is the Windows XP update that killed the game: System Recovered Error Message Update Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article Q317277

The whole upgrade process stinks. I've had all kinds of problems doing upgrades, half the time it corrupts the whole game. I have to back up the whole game directory every time I want to do an upgrade just in case it corrupts a file. After I finally get a good upgrade I have to copy it all to CD and send to my friends (who have perfectly legal copies they can't upgrade) because they are so frustrated with the upgrade process. They don't even want to play the game because of that.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying at all. I DID install that patch (and all other patches), and that caused the game to quit working. Then I un-installed the patch and the game worked again. So my point is that I can not install that patch and still have OFP work.

How about the bug where you get two mouse cursors when you start the game, and have to alt-tab out to the desktop and go back in to fix it? It may be cosmetic, but it's still really annoying.

I seem to have found a networking bug in Flashpoint (latest patched version). Player A types in IP address of host player B. Â Player A gets to Player B's cable router, and is routed to Player B' PC. Â Connection is established, but Player A game tries to figure out the real IP of Player B's PC. Â Player A gets IP for local network, which is different than real Internet IP. Â Player A game switches to that local IP and gets dropped from game. Once a connection is established, why would the game try to figure out what IP address it connected to? Â This means you can't host from behind a cable router. Â This is retarded. The IP address is good, I can see people connecting. And I know it's using the local address, because it displays it to the user in an error message, and it's my local IP address instead of the IP address they typed in.
