OK enough about those freaking bullet types!! In think 2 changes should be made: 1] LAWs should have less effective range than Carl G/AT4 (dunno about RPG but I guess it also should be less). It rediculous how far I can knock out tanks with these things. 2] Shilka's and Vulcans should have a functioning lead calculating computer like in real life. I hate being shot by choppers that fly just outside the view distance and i have no clue where to aim. I must say I only use Shilka's and Vulcans against ground-based targets effectively. Please, please, pease can we get this? Bye, Pimmelorus SHoP EuroSquad

Ever heard of the FRAPS utility that is used to do frame rate counts in OFP? I heard from a friend that it can also be used to record movies from OFP (he tried it and it works). Check it out if you want to make movies easily. Bye,

Look at http://students.washington.edu/gw2001/ Good luck!

Is there something wrong with mortar aiming; the reticle keeps falling down? Or is this supposed to happen? Bye,

To benu: Again, we are talking about a general applicable convention. On a MOD only server its clear that people know that they need a mod. Â Also, to a certain extent servers that sport their own addon-pack (such as MTCO) fall into this category. However, its common practice that many servers have a mix of missions, some that us addons and some that don't, and these servers are visited by many users that dont even know what an addon is.... Even missing a "basic" addon like the editoraddon kicks these people leaving you with an near empty server. This is not an ficticious event, it is common practice on most servers. You might say that these people are not worthy, well thats up to you. However, an admin should be firstly aware of the fact that addons are needed for a certain mission. So, regarding the general applicability the "addon-factor" should rank first.

Skunk, the convention (type)(number)(@=addon if needed)(authour if known)(Name - with our without spaces) was not proposed. You'll lose the addon vs. nonaddon sorting of game types (it'll be sorted on player number, which is of less importance). Also I personally would like to see the version number of the map in the convention, and the autor name completely at the end. This would be the proposed convention: (type)(@=addon if needed)(number)<space>(Name - with our without spaces)(version number)<space>(authour if known) Pimmelorus [sHoP]

I really like your tool and i use it always. There is one thing I think that could be improved and that is that the program does not allow the user to select multiple files (but not all) and (de-)activate these. Now, when i want to activate the NAM 2 pack I have to: select one file -> activate -> scroll down the list ->select one file -> activate -> scroll down the list ->select one file -> activate -> scroll down the list ->select one file -> activate -> scroll down the list ->select one file -> activate -> scroll down the list ->select one file -> activate -> scroll down the list -> etc Better to let me select all files and activate in one go. For making my custom sound collection I want t change the russian sniper rifle (draganov) sound. However, I cannot find a file that seems to refer to this rifle, although I can find the M21 sound in the WEAPONS-directory. Can anyone tell me what the name of this sound file is? Thnx,
-
Ha ha my god, this is a big mystery, isnt it? You pushed it more than I could with looking in the config-thingy. But it did not help us WHo will solvethe mystery? (to be continued)
-
No, the rifles do not use the same sound. Anyone?
-
Ok, thanks for the tip, i'll do that. Unfortunately it does not sound so nice anymore Bye

But does this trigger the "modified config" message in multiplayer games? I hope not... Thnx, Pimmelorus [sHoP]

I am making my own soundpack out of addons that are available. I came across some very nice M2-50.cal sounds in the OPGWC demo. Problem is that these sounds are samples of a single gun shot. The original M2-50.cal sound is a sample of 3 shots in sequence. In the OPGWC demo the single gunshot sounds are nicely timed with the rounds that are fired. But when I put this sound into my custom sound addon, this does not happen (you hear 1 shot for a couple of rounds fired). Has the OPGWC demo changed something in some config-file to make this happen or am I doing something wrong? Should i make a 3-shot sequence out of it to make it work in normal OFP? BTW. I am not releasing this addon to the public, so i think i can take the sounds without arousing people. If you think not let me know. Thnx, Pimmelorus [sHoP]

Ok now its my turn. I think that in priciple it is good that you want to run the risk to die when defending stuff that are precious to you. And many people agree on this like when you defend your country from an invading force. However, I get a bit uncomfortable feeling when people start arguing that they do so because they swore a pledge of allegeance (or how is it called). I understand that military peeps think this way because they have been trained to do so. But, in my opinion, having such an attitude you contribute to the current state of the world with severe armed conflicts. What I mean; at the moment countries are not merely pieces of land, but they represent (often globaly) a way of living and thinking. Most western soldiers that at the moment die in combat do not do this to defend their land, but fight wars to defend certain values and lifestyles IN OTHER COUNTRIES. Problem with this is that politicians (that try to play the people like puppets through the media, hence the term media wars for current wars) can point out any country/religion/etc. as a threat to its own values often masking primary considerations that consider economical benefit, strategic considerations, etc. Try it yourself, US -> Iraq  Russia -> Tsjetsnja  China -> Falun Gong, Taiwan  Israel -> Palestine; why are these wars happening? Probably because both sides tell their people that its a good cause dying. But are they? So, bottom line is that this world will explode sometimes in a nuclear blast because some people wanted to die for their county. For instance, (I understand that these things are sensitive after sept 11th so plz do not feel offended) although the US has been attacked by airliner planes, the president (and coworkers) have created an image that fighting Iraq will make the US a safer place. But no proof of the link between al qaida and Iraq has been presented, and many people (also americans) doubt the reasons why Buch wants this war...(oil, elections?). Politicians/presidents are no sacred people, history has learned us that much. So, think twice about what is the actual reason you are dying for...country or something else

I have another thing. If you look at the map of iraq , iraq barely is in contact with the sea. Why not limiting the land around the map to a bare minimum so that it look like endless desert? Is this not possible or not desired mission-building wise? Iraq map: http://home.achilles.net/~sal/icons/iraq.gif Just wondering, Bye, Pimmelorus [sHoP]

Ok I will check where the HELP screaming is coming from. I have been experimenting quite a lot with different sound addons and it might be that i have some leftovers somewhere. Please dont take notice of this comment then...

Hi Goeth, Wanna let you know that I like a lot of your sounds! But I a curious, are the bullet wistling and impact sounds from Day of Defeat? They sound so familiar... I luuuuuvee them by the way. What i dont like are the "help!" excalmations when members have been wounded. Sounds a bit cheesy; a more realistic excamation would be nice. Thanks for your work, Pimmelorus [sHoP]

Hi I just tried some units in the mission editor. What I find a bit ... whats the word... irritating (but thats too strong) is that the units that you made yourself (paladin, challenger, etc) really look "synthetic" in comparison with the reskinned ones. My knowledge of making is not such that i can tell you what is the problem, but it might be a lack of detail in both model and textures. To my opinion this should be corrected. I plan further comments after playing missions. Bye and keep up the good work, Pimmelorus [sHoP]

Look here, http://students.washington.edu/gw2001/ You'l need DePBO.exe, StuffPBO.exe, wssdec.exe and wsscod.exe (these are for compression and ddecompression of game- and sound-files) In addition, you need a good sound editor and a good ear. I just swap sounds from other addons to my own collection of sounds using this tools, so I cannot tell you anything about the real sound synthesis. Good luck, Pimmelorus [sHoP]

AI.... ...did Samelborp trigger some rushes of testosteron.....yuk But yes, i found out that working with a joystick works somewhat better then what you did in your movie. The only reason for this is, to my opinion, is that you have sensitive throttle control; the rest you can do perfectly with keyboard and mouse (except for rolls, that you didnt do in your movie). Good throttle control makes that you dont have those upward overshoots when evading objects/terain. So, low flying is better with joystick...yes...but its just as easy with keyboerd, mouse and just the joystick trottle control. And then again, we have a kick ass pilot in our squad that has never heard of a joystick Keep up practice, Pimmelorus [sHoP]

Hi all, I am very impressed by all the nice addons that have been produced in the last couple of months. Not being able to put together nice missions myself, i have to rely on the skills of others to really use these addons in missions. Well, my problem is this. I have not discovered an easy way to find such mission that, for example, use addons like the excellent HK pack. Is there a nice way to find such missions (missions database for missions that use addons), or can some hard working missions builders link to some of there missions that use adddons? It would really be appreciated so my addons will find some real use.... Bye, Pimmelorus [sHoP]
