Hi everyone, We will be hosting a small LAN party in Annandale, Virginia next Sunday. (May 19th) It is the first LAN event we are hosting and plan to begin hosting one on a monthly basis. My roomates and I regularly play Flashpoint in a LAN environment and have decided to invite some members of the community along. Although, we do play on public internet servers regularly we feel as though OFP is best suited for LAN play do to the fun factor The LAN will consist of 12-20 players (depending on what type of response we get) So far we've already got quite a few players interested. The server will consist of a dual gig Dell Poweredge with a direct connection to the internet available. We plan on making the server public to allow players from the internet to join as well. We have limited spots available and will begin at 11am Eastern till midnight. The event will be held in the conference area at our corporate LAN on a subnet designated for gaming If your interested in reserving a spot please post your email and I will contact you with information regarding the event. Last day to reserve a spot with us will be Friday, May 17th. I appologize for the short notice and promise that for our next LAN party I will provide a URL with more detailed sign-up information. *NOTE* We plan to play Operation Flashpoint Exclusively and don't plan on playing any other games. Both new and experienced players are welcome. Feel free to bring along custom maps etc. Thanks

I'll give that a shot and thanks for the quick replies. BTW, isn't there a way that the server can be set to automatically upload the clients files they need to play the missions? The reason I ask is because it becomes a sort of a drag having to keep up with so many add-ons in one place. Newbs like myself get don't always know where to go find these add-ons to make the game work correctly. JR

Getting the following error trying to launch operation flashpoint in multiplayer on Gamespy. No Entry "Config.bin::CFGWeaponsKEGSSVDragunov. I'm working on a fresh install of the game patched up to the most current version. Am I missing some kinda add-on or something? If so where can I locate or how can I resolve this issue? Thanks in advance, nutz

I've noticed some great maps hit the community lately but one thing I can't seem to ignore are the respawns on Co-Op missions. It's like you get in a tank, drive halfway accross the map, kill a few bad guys, die and your a bird in spectator mode. Then you gotta scratch ass on a server waiting for another half a hour for everyone else to die and the map to end. Granted this is realistic but lots of players wouldn't agree it is very fun. We want to be in the thick of the action as often as possible so PLZ allow us to RESPAWN. Co-OP missions work well with respawns actually and especially online. I like a wide variety of missions and way the authors have designed them. I realize that some missions need to be the way they are currently but I'd also like to emphasize that some of you give this a shot as well. Respawns keep people on servers, playing for longer period of time and generally make for better multiplayer games online. Does anyone have any links to some quality Co-Op maps that allow for players to respawn? I'd like to check em out so please post your links. Thanks, nutz

I love the realism of this game but I do agree it is very difficult to tell apart one team from the other. My roomates and I play on the lan and half the time end up shooting one another on accident. I can't imagine how worse it is on the internet or how team killers will kill games online. In my opinion there isn't really a need for newer skins. I think Tribes did this one the best with the green and red arrows above the player models. Granted this would blow a snipers cover but perhaps make it so you need to be a certain distance away for it identify the player. Either way there should definately be a better method cause right now I see players killing teammates far too often. nutz

One thing that sucks is that too many mission authors are making co-op maps that don't allow players to respawn. Forces players to sit on the server forever scratching ass while the rest of the squad dies one at a time. Co-op Multiplayer missions should be created in a way which allows players to respawn and have the map end based on timelimits or completing mission objectives. Anyone know of a good program to use to edit existing maps spawn times? There are some great co-op maps floating around on the net but this respawn crap really blows, heh. nutz

Is there a way to make your dedicated server report to an All Seeing Eye master server? I'm running a dedicated server right now but haven't quite figured out how to make it show up on gamespy or All Seeing Eye. The syntax I am using in my config file is the following reportingIP = "master.gamespy.com"; Any advice?

Quick Question Whats the exact syntax I need to put in order for my Dedicated server to report to gamespy masters? I have t-1 access and want to setup and run a dedicated server for my squad. Also, what firewall ports need to be opened to allow external access to my server. Any help would be greatly apprectiated. Thx, nutmeg

www.smoothwall.org Best free firewall that exists It's a linux distribution but really simple to setup. Small download for an ISO image. Runs great on any old 486 PC with 2 or 3 Network cards. (Depends if you want DMZ port)

I'm missing basic stuff like how the #### do I scroll up the console to read stuff you missed in chat? I'm sure there is a way but I've yet to find it. Need minor things like how quake had. Hit "TAB" it showscores, player pings, packetloss, time on server etc. In counter strike you even see a little microphone icon that lets you know who is talking. I don't see anything similar to that in OFP. The game is totally a step in the right direction in certaint aspects yet so far behind in others. I sure hope the player base supports it enough that the developers look into some minor issues here and there. I've been running a dedicated server on my lan and it seems to crash randomly often as well. It's still a little buggy but compared to other products that have been rushed it isn't so bad. You can tell some bright people designed this game and they can work out the needed issues I' m sure.

Are there any server setup tools, admin mods of any type yet available for OFP? Reason being is I'd like to set-up a public dedicated server and have it show up on gamespy or gamespy arcade. I'd also like more detailed documentation on server variables. Like controlling time limits, team killers, and being able to respawn on co-op missions. Is there a linux server going to be released? What ports need to be opened up and forwarded for a server to run public? Any advice or help would be appreciated, thanks. Nutmeg
