  1. I know about Murrays more fancy script but I would like one of the oldfashioned simple ones. I tried some of the ofpec ones but they dont seem very compatible with ArmA. I think the main reason seems to be the changes in strings. Thank you in advance. Marcus

Enemy AI too good, team AI too bad

I think good mission design can counter any flaws the AI has. I think it's important to consider what works for AI, and what doesn't. What paths to take when assaulting a town etc. A good combo of intelligent waypoint paths and scripting makes a huge difference. The Urban patrol scrips shows what the AI is capable of in my book. I would be interested to see what happens with those FSM files though. They were supposed to allow for far more advanced behaviour. marcus
  3. So in other words. Your Amiga experience consists of playing mainly shitty freeware games? I am talking about commersial games. You don't complain about freeware games. Here are two examples: Fairy Tale and Adventure Construction Set. Both contained show stopping bugs. There is a reason why Commodore went bankrupt. People grew tired of buggy games. Nevermind idiot management. Nice try about shitty Amiga. I owned three different versions . The only thing that differed was kickstart versions and memory etc. Fact. Todays games have less bugs, get supported after release (something that never happened in the "old days"). You also seem to have no idea about software development. I can compare, since I saw how games were made back in the "good old days", and how development is done today. Far more advanced games too. Not everyone is happy with playing crappy lookin gfreeware games. Marcus
  4. This is complete fiction. Such state never existed in the first place. You obviously never played games during the c64 or Amiga era when a broken game stayed broken. Nevermind bugs that fdisked your pc. One of the many tiresome myths out on the net. Doesn't give publishers right to release broken games but things are far better today than then. Games today have much better production values. marcus It's not fiction whatsoever. Every piece of software you purchase will have bugs, some more than others. I had a speccy and then an Amiga before I got to the PC. Sure, lots of the games I invested in had bugs, but never were they showstoppers, and never were they blatant. I never said that software used to be released bug-free, that is almost an impossibility. Patches for games are a recent desktop-necessity, not an archaic one. Did you play 2 Amiga games in total? I had hundreds and I can say that now, there was no way to patch games, unless they released something through magazines (BBS was hardly used for patching anything). When you say show stopping, you probably think of some feature you don't like. Show stopping back then meant that the game never even loaded or simply crashed everything. Fact is, if you bought something broken, it stayed broken. Fairy Tale for instance. And many more on both C64, Amiga and Spectrum. In my book it was even more unforgivable since they never had to deal with dozens of hardware incompatibility issues. You are letting nostalgia get in the way of reality. Marcus

  6. Most wanted addon for me, thank you so much. marcus
  7. I really miss this helicopter from OFP. Is anyone converting this one to ArmA? In my opinion, it makes even more sense to have it, on a bigger island. Marcus

    official complaint to BIS

Quite incredible how people come with the same type of complaints game after game. Why they hell do they have to be so damn predictable? I could very well copy paste the complaints from any random game. Same old boring comments like "did they beta test this game", "I am too stupid to fix my drivers properly, game is broken". bla bla. I have said it before and I say it again. People finding it hard to patch their drivers properly should stick to console gaming, it is that simple. Game is only a few months old and already we have 4 patches. That is more support than most games see. MTW2 is still on 1.01 for instance (released at the same time). For me this game was playable from day one at least. marcus

    Feel like ive been mugged

There is an easy solution for you. Stick to console games. Obviously Armed Assault is way too advanced for you. Super Mario Brothers seems more like your type of game. marcus

    OPen Note to BIS

Steam is one awful system. I can only really see employees promoting that system. Only fools buy HalfLife2 trhough Steam and that is their capital product. I would instead recommend GamersGate. They have excellent activation systems. Or why not Stardock? Another publisher of quality products. Marcuis

    www.buyarma.com

Why not just get the download version? I have never had any problems with that. No spinning discs either . marcus
  12. Since most of that team are over here I was hoping to see an announcement soon. Marcus

    505s version

How about something to make paradrops from? Like an-25 or something similar. Hercules for west side. marcus

    I won't be buying ArmA :(

Well. To be fair, he made it clar from start that he was a Battlefield player and a graphics whore to boot. That should be enough to judge this poster. This guys obviously want a more kiddie oriented FPS, there are plenty of those for him. Marcus

Performance and fun in Demo Version

My full game has been running good from day one. I learned to tweak the settings, that is all. Maybe PC gaming is simply too advanced for many people? marcus

    ARMA huge Mouse mat/Map

Now here's someone who takes ArmA seriously . What kind of printer? marcus

    Possible to turn off grass?

Well no but what addon does? I just mean that the solution already exists and once you have seen it, you realise how much you miss the grass. No going back for me. I bought and downloaded mine from morphicon. Works like a charm with the language patcher. marcus
  18. marcusm_uk

    Possible to turn off grass?

No, online play is a major part of the game. I don't see much need to turn grass off though, it makes the game look bad. Object detail set to low seems to make the grass very thin, so that should be fine. You can use those islands in online play. I mean the grass free islands. Plus. BIS will likelly optimize this much more anyway. marcus

    Possible to turn off grass?

There are already grass free islands you can download. What is the big deal here? Problem is already solved. marcus
  20. I thought this was a script? Why not just post it here. Tastes are different, i liked the old site, the "modified" is different. Now ArmaMods is the best. Marcus
  21. That place sucks. Put it up on armamods or something similar. Or simply show the script. Marcus
  22. Maybe you missed it but it says BIS and 505. This board is owned by BIS. I didn't even recieve anything so maybe there is an option after all. Since noone is putting a gun to your head in order for you to release your missions, then no. YOu are free to take part in the competition or not. It's like a lottery, you pay for the lottery ticket, your mission is your payment. Becides. It wouldn't be in their interest to not publicly announce the winner. What's the point of the competition if they don't? You can be sure we'll know the winners name. Marcus
  23. Anyway, what 505/BIS does cannot be counted as eihter usolicited or spam, we all signed up freely here. Now. Do you guys want ArmA to succeed or not? Why all the negativity around these boards. Let them try various ways. At worst you get new scenarios to play, since they will be available for everyone, UK resident or not. marcus

    AAN - ArmA Navy

This may seem like a stupid question but are the ships "solid" now? As in, no more falling through deck etc. Marcus

    AAN - ArmA Navy

Great to see some heavy duty addons being worked on. This will sell in ArmA better than anything else . marcus
