tiger tank ive been working on. ignore the man sitting in the tank, its a placeholder
-
sorry to hear about the panther, thats a shame.
-
heres something to look foward to in the long run, ive started work on my tiger again. exterior mesh is finshed (9500) triangles interior model is in progress. make sure its lower than 5000 triangles. not sure if this will be ready to play by 15th, so it might be a standalone addon for arma. ignore, the man sitting in the tank, its just a place holder.

Razani, North Waziristan Map
mpantel replied to Nicholas Bell's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
this map looks amazing, did you randomly place those bushes? or did you painfully match every bush with the SAT texture? Also if someone was to model a cave in a big rock, to fit the side of a mountain, how would it look, anyone have any good realife photos or diagrams of caves/bunkers ect. -
MehMan you can use the sounds, they are for everyone to use mate. its like a community donation.

Importing from XYZ.. OPEN don't IMPORT
mpantel replied to rocket's topic in ARMA : MAP EDITING (VISITOR)
yea, sometimes the layers, might not display when zooming in, it happens. its just a display issue, you can still download the area you want, if you can find it lol, its hard with no names on the map. If you want to get it, to load again, on the right side under display, click on ELEVATION --> uncheck "NED shaded relief (1 arc second)" --> then check STRM Finished 3 arc sec shaded relief. should show up as grey, STRM 3 ARC, is the one you should be using and downloading, its the higest resoultion for the interntational data. by the way, it still might not show up. its just a bug dont worry about it too much. to download the data on the right pannel, click on download. then under Elevation, make sure STRM 3 ARC, is selected, not 1" ned. then on the left pannel under downloads, click on the "Define rectangular download area icon. drag a rectangle around the area you want. another window should pop up, where you can choose your download. If you choose a large area, it will split up the download area, into a grid, in seprate downloads click on download, with in this new window. wait, for the que..... 1 to 15 min! it should then download, or come up with more options, cant remember through theres also an option to modifiy the data request (change the format, of the elevation data) I usualy change it into GEOTIFF, and load it into something like globalmapper. then export it as a hightmap. But usually find a format that suits you and your program. good luck! -

hmm, im gona try exporting to xyz, format, the only way ive got dem data to work, is by exporting it via, a hightmap. problem is that hightmaps are low ress dem data of the whole world is availble, very good resoultion. just click on the view & download international data here http://seamless.usgs.gov/ but i must warn you, it takes a while to learn how to even get it from that site lol -
also incase you guys might not have known, this place has high res sat maps, of grenada, not google. http://maps.live.com/ I tried to follow the crazy amount of roads, but thats not a good idea, it would be much better to be more creative about it. An exeption to follow sat maps is offcourse in key areas, like st george, pearls and Salinas airfiled, PRA base, Grenada radio station, ect. and also follow the main road, that circles the island. also for good 80's highress photos, try searching here http://www.defenseimagery.mil/index.htm
-
who do i send, 100's of 1980s color photos of urgent fury to? ive got a 17meg zip file, would like to send it via email. oh, and heres a little pic, of a test i did. had good sat map, and hight data, soon found out its gona be to much work to follow all the roads on the island, so i abandned it.
-
did you guys happen to find any good photos of the governor mansion? or closeups of the radio station, ? the only refrence i have for the mansion, is a rough map from a navyseal website, and try to match that with sat photos.
-
Looks good, you will have alot of fun, doing all the roads on the island. I starded grenadas, a while back, but gave up because of roads through. I collected many arials and period photos, ive got a good areial of the radio station, were the seals landed, also ive created the whole Island based on DEM data, so height data is done.

Problems with 4096 map and sat-texture
mpantel replied to Romolus's topic in ARMA : MAP EDITING (VISITOR)
look inside your layers directory, and open up one of the rvmats in a text editor. check to see if they are pointing to PAA or PNG, i had this problem, where i had to edit each rvmat, that had the word PAA 2 PNG. after that it worked fine IF this is the problem, there should be many programs, that can do a batch, and change the word PAA in those files. -
hmm, i did a few more roads, completly separate from the main ones, and the main ones stuffed up or their own? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/mpantel/roadproblems.jpg
