  1. This is the first rpg where I've seen mounted combat work really good. It has a more mideaval feel to it than the typical RPG, which might appeal to people who normally dislikes RPG:s. Actually it reminds quite a bit of a classic called Darklands. Another neat feature is that you can hire a small army and command yourself. Not only 5-6 guys but like a platoon . The 3d engine isn't too bad. Not Oblivion class but definatelly great for a shareware RPG. Combat is a bit awkward at first but if you are confident with the WASD movement it shouldn't be much of a problem. One can play the first 6 levels before it stops(or you register it). http://taleworlds.com/ marcus

    Conspiracy, maybe?

I had no interest in VBS but I definatelly want ArmA. Just playing with all the addons in the updated engine will be great. Not to mention the new cool dynamic missions. What I mean is that I still want a game not a "training tool". I'm assuming ArmA still targets gamers first and forthmost . marcus

    Gameplay Improvements

The screens looks great but personally graphics were never a problem for me. What I'm interested in is whether there will be any actual gameplay updates in  this. I'm talking about smarter team AI (ie no default Rambo rushes with all AI dieing type of faults). Scripting is nice but i would like to see better handling of the group, especially when you are not a squad leader yourself. Not the type where one man is sent off to die in a piecemal fashion. Even if certain scripts can help I haven't found any configuration which really satisfies me in solo play. Do I have to wait for game no 2 for any AI improvements whatsoever? I would pay 100$ just for suppressive fire to be added. To heck with all texture improvements . marcus

    Squad Alignment???

Why would it take so much time? All they need to do is study some of the user scripts and make them integral with the engine. OFP2 is nice but if they want to sell some ArmA to finance the development then I hope there's a reason other than some new graphics. Actually I thought that these things already were implemented in VBS, it's supposed to be more realistic after all. Now that OFP Elite is gold I gues there's more time to reveal some news about this game. Or lock this thread and announce something themselves. marcus

    Squad Alignment???

I agree that this would be good. Scripting is nice but it's even better if these features could be put into the core game. Maybe it wont require much work since the scripts already exists . The commmands themselves could be made quicker to access through some macro style commands. IE, that you could put out a chain of commands and use a hotkey for it. marcus

    Modern Warfare Mod

Sorry for being cryptic . I meant Addons & Mods Discussion. The Pacific War mod sounds interesting as does the modern war mod btw. marcus

    New Screenshots

I'm not comparing the games, just the hype. Actually before OFP got an publisher we were treated with lots of previews and screens too. The massive response probably helped them with the publisher thing . It was one of the hardest games to wait for in my gaming life. About the whining. I think most seem very positive about the screens. Most complaints seems to be from people with 2-3 total posts. I for one would be happy with a series of screens from one spot in 360 degree angles . marcus

    Modern Warfare Mod

Which is basically the same thing. Not to mention more chance to get lucky with the request AM&D. There's even a specific thread about this very subject there. marcus

    Modern Warfare Mod

Um, you could just have used the regular addons discussion forum. This is still OFP you know. marcus

    DMA Release Day

Aha. Ok that sounds good. I think there's a range setting too for the sharing. And yes. The free missions became much harder with this, and much cooler too if I may so . I can't praise this effort enough it seems . marcus
  11. marcusjm

    What about a demo??

My mistake. I don't follow this forum section as well as I should. There's so much going on with regular OFP . marcus
  12. marcusjm

    What about a demo??

Well if it's delayed until april next year then a demo while waiting wouldn't be wrong . marcus

    New Screenshots

I wouldn't be surprised if that was possible in Game2. With the larger scale I guess they will use a more dynamic engine. marcus

    DMA Release Day

IMO these are already quite "pluggable". I've already done some variations for myself like transport by land and other stuff. DMA is great and makes waiting for ArmA easier. Btw. A question to those who know both ECP and DMA. In ECP you can enable AI info sharing. Is there a "risc" that assets from the base can react to what happens in the battlefield? I mean that when I tested it I had one tank react to a battle quite far away which was cool in itself but maybe it can screw up the DMA base settings. marcus

    Gameplay Improvements

Maybe kind of useless . I dont think the military uses those. I also dont like the idea of leaning and shooting, reminds me of AA (americas army, not arma..), its there, its unrealistic and its useless most of the time, and unlike OPF AA:SF uses alot of small urban maps and cqb, in arma it wouldnt be that usefull imo. One gameplay improvement i would like to see would be to see the player models raise their rifles to eye level when they use the sights, like the a.i. do, Suma explained once why this feature didnt make it but i would be very happy if they would consider it now . I have actually seen US soldiers use those in Iraq on TV. Maybe it was just for show . It does sound useful on paper at least. I'd rather use a mirror than lean myself. Worst case one can use a pocket mirror. marcus

    New Screenshots

Now that is quite demanding, don't you think  Compared to other AAA titles it's not. I mean BF2 had like 200 screens a week . The more hype this gets the better it will sell by pre-order. Here's an idea. They can give a beta to some dedicated fan and let him do the fanboi marketing . Btw. I missed the post which said it was postponed to april next year. Then the lack makes more sense. Wonder if this means Game2 comes even later then? marcus

    Gameplay Improvements

However, mirrors like SWAT4 would be cool. marcus

    New Screenshots

Isn't it about time for some new screens now? I would like to see at least weekly screens. Considering how late in development this should be. An actual trailer wouldn't be totally out of place. The amount of PR for a game soon to be released is a bit low imho. marcus

    Gameplay Improvements

ECP(and/or the OFPEC/OFP) Â has come along way of improving AI but it's all script based. It would be better if these improvements were hardcoded/compiled into the engine. Worst case they can hire ECP to do some changes in exchange of a free ArmA . Btw. About the injured thing. Many of these things could be fully automated imho, if someone is injured then the nearest medic should simply go to action (think there are some scripts for this), same with no ammo. The micromanagement can sometimes be a real pain when you are in a heavy fire fight. I'm thinking of shortcutting certain common commands as well. marcus

    DMA Dynamic War SP template

Well i use the default ECP config and I've yet to experience any problems. The ECP scripts seems to fire off as usual. I solve the Voice thing with putting token men from each side somewhere on the map. Works nicelly . No crashes whatsoever btw. marcus

    Everon Defence Force soldiers

That they don't have any markings yet doesn't mean there won't be any markings at all  Yes, it is highly likely that they will be on both west and resistance side  Now more work im progress: Lynx checkpoint Well. Can one wish for a dynamic patch system ala the international forces? These guys are really useable in general as I see it. The Lynx looks great. marcus

    European Politics Thread.

One hint could be that he said he wanted to be a priest . Another that he visits the parliament chapel each day. There's of course politicans who are muslims and socialists. So there's no real connection there. There's even Marxists who are religious. In fact I do not know about one Swedish prime minister who was openly atheist(pity). Not even Palme. marcus

    European Politics Thread.

Hellfish: Schröder is a socialist, so while possible, unlikely. As for Chirac, they would have guillotined him for that - the French are extremely serious about the separation of church and state. The real question should be. Will Euro exist in 10 years . I mean the way it's going now. Noone seems to care about following the rules. As for those polls. I wouldn't put too much value into them. Once the question was put on the table the situation would be different. Didn't everyone think France would say yes to the constitution? Same with Norway. The current government has already stated that no vote on the matter will come up within this period. So that means at least 4 more years before they can even vote about it. As for Schröder. Being socialist doesn't mean much in that case(I'm sure he's religious). Swedish prime minister is openly religious but still socialist. Same with Tony Blair. marcus

    Everon Defence Force soldiers

Sorry. Only read the first page. Well since these have no markings I guess they can be used on any island. Btw, is there a possibility to make an extra set for WEST side? i thought it would be nice to have this in a DMA as "Extra Government forces" against rebels. marcus

    European Politics Thread.

You've never heard a politician reference God? In America we get that all the time "God Bless America," "God willing," etc. In Europe you never, ever hear anything like that from your politicians? Actually, no, they don't use any "God" references. At least not in Sweden or on Union level. Can't speak for all member states though. To be honest, I get a bit freaked out every time I hear a US politician speak because of the numerous religious references. As for Turkey, it is a tad odd when it comes to secularity. The government and the political system in general is über-secular. They literally had to kill thousands of people to get it that way. The people however are in general very religious, which does indeed clash with most of the rest of Europe. There are of course other exceptions such as Malta and Poland. Not at all true. The EU is a political partnership first and foremost. In the average member states 60% of the laws are union laws and 40% national laws. As for what people in the Nordic countries want, I suggest you check out the Eurobarometer opinion polls: http://europa.eu.int/comm/public_opinion/archives/eb/eb63/eb63_en.htm It's common foreign policy, common defence etc In the Nordic countries the Euro-scepticism is directed at the EU as it is today rather than against it as a concept. As you can see from the opinion polls, people want more political integration, not less So this is why Swedes voted against Euro? And most likelly would have voted against the constitution (as did the French). A party with it's main goal to reduce EU to it's original plan became one of the largest in the last EU-parliament election. Their goal;: EU to remain free trade/movement idea. Not measure bananas . Norway of course don't want to be a member at all. Why should they? With their oil money they can soon buy Europe . As for the killings. Turkey has a dark history but what European nation doesn't? Austria and Croatia are probably the among the last nations with rights to complain about that. marcus
