    More SOC coops inbound.

Hey, which image are you talking about? EDIT: Ignore, I fixed it. Monty
  2. The Special Operations Command is putting together an Operation Flashpoint modification to support it's missions. The modification is basically a collection of addons used in SOC missions. I will soon post a list of all the addons included in the mod. Please direct any questions or comments to the SOC forums. Thanks, Monty

    Special Operations Command Mod

@ Sniper_Kyle I'm not sure how I can make it more clear. This is simply a collection of addons we at SOC use to make our missions. If you wish to play our missions, then you will either need to download and install the mod or get all of the addons off the list I posted above and every BAS addon. There is no plot, no storyline, timeframe is modern. It's just a easy way for people who wish to play our missions to make sure they have all of the necessary addons. Monty

Hey thanks guys. I am glad to hear you have played some of my past missions. I have been busting ass at work lately and I also have been messing with Joint Operations a bit so I haven't got crap done. I started on Operation Cobra Srtike last night. Below is a list of the features it will have. -Custom music -Cutscene intro -Ablility to choose time of day & weather -Ability to equip your team with whatever Marine Assault Pack weapons you choose (east and west) I would like to know what you guys think about respawn. Do you prefer a group respawn, instant respawn, base respawn, etc? I could make a couple different versions if you guys wanted. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Monty

    Special Operations Command Mod

Thanks for the feedback. We prefer to keep the list of addons as small as possible. A lot of the addons you listed are not necessary. SOC has been around for quite some time and we have never used any of the addons you listed yet we always have tremendously fun, realistic, and challenging missions. Also, some of the addons you listed are already included. For example, you listed crashed helicopters, the BAS addons, which I stated are needed, already have those. Even if they didn't, all you have to do is put down a bird in the editor and set it's armor level to none. You mentioned a technical which is also included in Tonal but is a jeep instead of a truck. Your feedback is appreciated. Thanks, Monty

    Updated UH-60 Blackhawks for OFP

Let me start by saying that I am a 15T (UH-60 Blackhawk mechinc/crewchief) currently serving in the U.S. Army. I am always glad to see someone taking interest and making new 60s for OFP. I want to share a few thoughts with you. 1) Almost ALL U.S. Army UH-60s use M60D machine guns and not M134 miniguns or M2 50 cals. The only units that use miniguns are the 160th SOAR and one unit stationed in Korea. Some regular Army units are testing the M240 as an alternative to the M60D. 2) The UH-60Q model is rarely found today in medivac units. Most medivac units use a modified version of the UH-60L that includes a rescue hoist, carrosel for holding casualties, and sometimes different windows in the cargo doors. 3) There are generally two types of DAP birds the 160th uses. One is a regular DAP bird that carries NO hellfires. The other is an IDAP that does carry hellfires. Both can be equiped with a 30mm cannon, two foward facing M134 miniguns, and 2.75" FFARs. Another note, the crewchiefs on DAP birds usually site in rear facing seats, right up against the robinson tanks. 4) The ESSS fuel tanks that we always use hold 230 gallons of fuel. The big boys that I have never seen carry 460 gallons. Also, there are two different types of ESSS. The first is the one you usally see with the ESSS wings going pretty much straight out from the aircraft. The other is a type that the 160th uses. The come up at an angle to provide the door gunner with a larger area to shoot. I put a pic at the bottom. 5) Some of our aircraft here at the 101st are getting new engine inlets that dramatically change the look of the aircraft. I was unable to find any pics of the inlets on the net so I will take my camera to work tomorrow and try to get a picture or two so you can see what they look like. These new inlets have big filters for keeping the dust out in dirty environments (Iraq). However, there is a reduction in power as a result. 160th ESSS wings. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. You can PM me if you wish. Thanks and good luck! Monty P.S. I have friends in the 160th, regular air assault units, and medivac units so I can get quite a bit of info if needed. Plus, I have a ton of experience myself. Me and the crew in Cali.

    What are your favorite addons?

Just use the default BIS UH-60A. UH-60A is nothing but a plain jane blackhawk, certaily nothing special. It's the first model the Army recieved from Sikorsky. We had 15 of them when I was stationed in Alaska. The UH-60L has a few changes, like T701 engines instead of T700s and a few other mechanical differences. It's when you get into the MH-60s that you see a huge difference. As for the addons. BAS EVERYTHING: Tonal is the best and it runs great on my pc. MARPAT MARINES: Best weapons in OFP in my opinion. FDF Mod: Best total conversion. DXDLL: Makes OFP much more enjoyable and makes for some great screenshots. LASER DELTAS: These guys look awesome! Man, this is a tough one to answer, there are a lot of great addons out there. Monty

    SPC 6.8 and stuff

I will agree that a lot of the same addons in the community are made by a lot of different people. For example, there are several SFOD-D and Ranger addons. However, each one of them brings something unique to the table. Gordy's M4s have scope views like no other, the sounds are different, etc. I think it's nice to have a variety of the same category of addon to choose from. If I want to play with Laser's Deltas one mission and BAS' the next, then that is a choice I am happy to have. Monty

To Lee Its good to see that some people can still be professional with their criticism and comments. Post like yours are always welcome. I'm sure Gordy appreciates the feedback. Thanks, Monty

The Special Operations Command has a mirror to download Gordy's M4s. SOC supports Gordy and we really appreciate his contribution to the OFP community. This M4 pack looks great. You can download it from the link below. Also, more links are needed and appreciated. SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND Good job Gordy! SOC-Monty

    OFP videography

I'm sure you can get one of these OFP sites to host for you. I am thinking about trying to work out a deal with one of my buds for hosting flicks as well. If so, I will let you all know. Monty

    OFP videography

That was a neat video but I have a hard time believing that crap about our aircraft being that easy to pick up on radar. Were you being serious about that or was it just for the movie? Monty

    WOODLAND US NAVY SEALs

My good friend is stationed here at Fort Campbell with me. He is a weapons sergeant with the 5th Special Forces Group. A WEAPONS SERGEANT. He told me that they do use such products as redi-mags. Now I am not sure how many special operations soldiers you know, but I know several and they all say the same thing. Now, I am sure that there will be two different responces to this reply. 1) "Why are you still talking about mags? I said stop it." Well cry me a river, that's what forums are for, TO HAVE DISCUSSIONS! 2) "Yeah right, you don't know anyone from Special Forces." There is really nothing I can do to prove to you that I do know some SF guys. However, if you are truely worried about it, feel free to hit me on MSN using monty67t@msn.com Thanks, Monty

    WOODLAND US NAVY SEALs

Sorry bud, you are wrong. You might not see as many operators taping them together these day because of products like Redi-mag, but I assure you that some still do it. It can cause jam problems, which is why products like Redi-mag came about. I would suggest using Redi-mags on the SEALs. REDI-MAG WEBSITE Monty
  21. As some of you know, a variety of aircraft can laser designate their own targets in real life. I am curious if this is possible in OFP. For example, if you have BAS's Tonal, you will notice that in the mission editor under BAS Isle Misc, you can put down a "east laser target". Would it be possible using camcreate or something to make this in option while flying. You could use a map click, and wherever you click, it creates a laser target. The target would stay there for maybe 60 seconds, then be deleted. I think this would be a cool feature on aircraft with laser guided bombs. Just curious of what you all think. Thanks, Monty
