    New title for FLASHPOINT2

OPERATION Poseidon cannot be used as explained. What about "World War III: Placebo's Revenge", j/k. BTW, this weekend is Memorial Day. I would like to say thank you to all of my fellow veterans out there. Monty

    MMOTFPS??

It would be a pretty cool feature if there was a full scale war going on and each player had it's own objective to accomplish. For example, player 1 might be in charge of an engineer squad who's job is to destroy a vital bridge, but they cannot do that job until player 2 and his flight of Apaches has taken out the armor threat around the bridge. Then player 3 has a special operations unit that is going to HALO jump in behind enemy lines and "paint" mobile scud launchers for player 4 to drop laser guided bombs on from his F/A-18. The possiblities are endless. It would be a CooP heaven. Monty

    LSR Addons

Wow, my original post was a simple suggestion to Laser that maybe in the future he could take on the project of making some realistic Army SF units that look like they have been operating in Afghanistan. I didn't know all you experts who have been in the real U.S. Army longer than I have would get so offended. It's funny how it turned from "hey Laser, how about this idea" into "let Laser make what he wants to make, go make SF yourself". You guys might want to slow down, read people's post more thoroughly, and think before you type. Monty 5-year U.S. Army veteran who knows what the hell he is talking about and actually walks the walk.

How about you stop trying to be a moderator and let them do the job. My original post was a suggestion for Laser . . . umm, thanks.

    LSR Addons

I am in no way trying to insult Extraction's hard work and I understand that only so much can be accomplished within the OFP engine. However, I believe when you look at these models side by side you will see quite a bit of differance. For example, the jeans Extraction's units are wearing do not look right in my opinion. Please do not be offended, I am just trying to help. Â Monty

    LSR Addons

Laser, I know you are probably working on alot of stuff right now. But I wanted to bring these models to your attention. They are being made for Ghost Recon and I feel this is what we need for OFP beside some good SEALs. SFG MODEL 01 SFG MODEL 02 What do you guys think? Monty

    OFP2 and "armed assault" - what's up?

I certainly hope they do not limit us to just the Marines. The U.S. Army has got an arsenal 10 times bigger than the Marine Corp. Hopefully we will have a little bit of everything. But then again, I don't care if they just give us the Coast Guard, I'll be happy just playing OFP2. Monty

    OFP2 and "armed assault" - what's up?

Well considering that none of us know any actual details, I think you are jumping the gun with your critisism. Those OFP1 trucks you are talking about are probably for the XBOX version and the other, more detailed screens are for OFP2. Why don't you save your negative comments for when we actually have some solid information? Monty

    G4tv E3 coverage starts tonight.

Either way, they are going to be there and you are not. Maybe they will show it. While I agree with what you say above, G4 is still the only video game channel out there. So maybe instead of dogging them, we should just be glad we have something. Monty

    how to use Laser designator

The laser designator is pretty easy to use. All you have to do is point at the target you want to "paint" and fire. It will produce a red dot that you should be able to see on your target. Once you have the target painted, a fellow player or even AI can lock on to your laser using laser guided bombs or hellfire missiles. It can be very effective and fun. Monty

    Ofp...dead?

I think OFP has died off quite a bit over the past year. All of the new games and big titles coming out, for pc and consoles, has taken it's toll on some of the community. I have stopped playing OFP to focus on another game, but I always come back. I enjoy games like Battlfield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Raven Shield, etc. However, none of those offer the amount of "combat simulation" that OFP does. Another thing for myself is that the amount of players from the U.S. has declined. It's sometimes hard to find players in my time zone. I play with a small group of close friends, not the public. The amount of addons out there is a bit of a problem. While it's absolutely great that we have the opporunity to go find whatever military equipment we want, it does hamper a gamers ability to join servers. Nowadays I usually just make missions for me and my friends to play or just create battles and just sit back and watch. *By the way, if there are any North American players that are in my kind of situation and have a hard time finding people to play with, leave a post in MY FORUMS and leave your contact info. Monty I have been in the Army for 5 years and it is not hard to reload and run at the same time. It's very easy.

    Some military questions...

Hey SpongeBob, I am getting ready to head to work right now, but I will give you a full response later. I am currently serving in the U.S. Army with Delta Co. 4/101st Aviation Regiment. I am stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). I can answer all of your questions when I have more time. You can PM me if you have more questions. Gotta go! Lack of missions in Operation Flashpoint

Has anyone seen any missions from Bowery? I haven't, but when I do, they better be the shit. You are doing a lot of talking here, I hope you got the skills to back it up. It's people like you that ruin a decent conversation. This is a good discussion, please don't reply unless you have something constructive to say. Now, back to business. Someone above said something about "open-ended" missions. I think this is a great idea. I think it would be cool if it was done on an island like AEC. Just give the players some intel and let them figure it all out. They would have to do their own recon, mission planning, etc. These types of missions would probably time consuming to build, but I think it would be worth it in the end. If we could get a ton of these missions, I believe it would boost the community interest. Monty

Lack of missions in Operation Flashpoint

Well, I voted other. I am in the mission editor everyday making coops for my squad. I think the problem is a combination of addons and the crap you have to go through to get your missions available for download. Also, I don't like making waypoints for every unit. I would rather give an insertion point, an objective, and an extraction point. Let the players figure everything else out. Leave it open, screw END TRIGGERS. I mean, in real life there's no window or text that pops up and tells you when a village is secure. But, if you release a mission like that, you get evil feedback. There are so many addons out there, that becomes an issue. It's a turn-off if you have to go download a bunch of addons to play a mission. Also, like someone said above, most OFP websites have a bunch of shit you have to go through to get your missions added to their site. It's just a pain in the ass. I would imagine that their is a ton of people like Milkman that have a bunch of missions that they have created that just either haven't been finished or are finished and just not available to the public. addon idea: HYK tortured captive

Another reason POWs have there boots taken is because one of their captures want them. I mean, if it's a U.S. prisoner, then 9 out of 10 times, they are going to be wearing nicer hear then the bad guys. Also, the boot laces could be a bad thing for a hostage to have, suicide, etc. Monty

@SpecOp9 Those are by far the best videos I have ever seen for VBS1 or OFP. Really outstanding work. I am very anxious to see your future videos. Monty
