actually this is the first thing i tried! however i had some problems with this. It is necessary to destroy the shells or bullets as fast as possible and this means, in the searchlight itself! So there's no shell around or near the target, I only use their initial direction to "propagate" the light. I also wanted to have light all along the beam for land scanning. Thats why the lights are placed ramdomly along the axis creating a small fluttering that u noticed. But maybe I misunderstood, and if you find some improvement i'll be very glad to put it in this addons

Thanks you all for your nice comments. @Blackdog: yes I'm interrested in more info and pics on searchlights. The one I made is more or less a german searchlight from wwii, but since i have no blueprints or detailed pics it is not perfect. @Baz: I think it is absolutly possible to adapt the config for vehicles (specially land or boat, air is more difficult because of speed), this addons is based on a mg. @Atstwalker: well i'm afraid its a problem with your PC specs. Gloops. I'll try to make a lighter version. If someone else experiences this bug please tell me in this thread.

Here it is Its a beta so feel free to comment.... Version 1.0B I must say i've spend really many hours to figure out how to config this baby! It's not perfect but I think it can give nice atmospheres to missions and specially WWII ones Install: ---------- Just put the two .pbo (MTH_spot.pbo and MTH_target.pbo) in your res\addons\ directory. Content: --------- You'll find the searchlights under West, East and Resistance in Searchlight (MTH). Each time you'll find two versions: AI which is best used by AI The other one is for player Using (AI) version when your player makes the light randomly scattered. It is also better not to group the units, use them alone. Important: ----------- The searchlight will only work from 5am to 7pm. Script: ----------- I've added a scan script for the AI to search for target in specific direction Just put this line in the init field of the searchlight (AI) [Name_of_your_searchlight,_azimutinitial,_siteinitial,_azimutmaxleft,_azimutmaxright,_site anglemaxhigh,_siteangleminlow] exec "\MTH_target\slscan.sqs" _azimutinitial,_siteinitial values refer to the initial azimut and site you want the unit to point at. the other 4 values are the limits of the scanning area all the values in degrees. Example: [Name_of_your_searchlight,10,15,-40,60,90,10] exec "\MTH_target\slscan.sqs" Mission example: ---------------- You'll find searchlightdemo, a basic mission where you'll see a unit tracking a Mi24. Yes it is based on a MG, so you can config it to target soft, armored or air enemi vehicles. I'll also make a script for random search. I should release a aa version and probably a smaller one for guard towers. The concept is also usable on vehicles, specially jeeps or trucks. Motho
