  1. hi, As of June 17th, 2013, the complete package for Punishment Battalion is now up in my Public folder on Dropbox. Here is the link for anyone interested: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5yip1pi5ej2hvn3/PB%20Final%20Total%20Package.zip I plan on creating another large mission for Armed Assault 3, and am really curious to hear anyone's ideas, suggestions, criticisms etc. Thanks very much! Lee
  2. hey there folks, I wanted to share my mission "Punishment Battalion" with the community. Scored 9/10 on Ofpec so hopefully you will enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it  : Remember, not dying and not using any ArmA "gamey" tricks will only increase the suspense, fun and challenge! Download link: http://files.filefront.com/PB+Fina....fo.html link to Ofpec review: http://www.ofpec.com/mission....&cat=sp Creating "PB" took nearly 6 months, 15 cutscenes, with over 50 scripts, dozens of voiceovers from about 10 different voice actors, and much help and inspiration from THobson's legendary Abandoned Armies mission.  Description: General Beria has put North Sahrani under martial law to exterminate a growing Resistance. Find and recruit the Resistance, rescue your girlfriend, destroy Beria's regime and bases. More details to follow. Choose your own strategy of guerrilla warfare as you go from not even a weapon to master of the Island. Your judgment and instinct on when to fight, when to run and what strategies to employ will make more of a difference than your marksmanship (though you'll need plenty of that too). Any questions please email me at leehunt22@hotmail.com
  3. thanks for your comments guys! hopefully the AI for ArmA II is better. I had to get AI characters to drop their handguns too, very annoying but not gamebreaking. @MadRussian-- i might make PB II if Armed Assault II is good-- and noting that the "wave of the future" seems to be Coop missions i would probably gear it in that direction. Thanks again i'm really glad you enjoyed it! It makes my day
  4. Thanks sdoc-- i tried to keep the characters interesting and have the "where are they now" segment in the finale. Â If ArmA II is any good i'll probably make a sequel... and I agree Cheetah. Â Abandoned Armies is an inspiration and probably the greatest mission ever made for the OFP/ArmA series: http://www.ofpec.com/missions_depot/index.php?action=details&id=5
  5. After coming back from a long summer vacation, just finished playing PB myself . I did lose a few characters along the way but i found destroying the helicopters early made all the difference. I know in the next game to make air cover much tougher!
  6. Strange these AI issues, writing the code for Carla was a pain but it seemed to cause no problems for anyone else. I definitely was shot at by the enemy throughout the entire mission, without fail. The mission did not get easier for me until i took out the helicopter, which routinely strafed my troops on the ground. These comments make me think PB II should be a bit tougher (though some in betatesting thought PB I hard enough) and have air cover replacements for the AI...
  7. hi guys, Been away out of town and out of touch with internet-- thanks so much for the posts answering questions and what not. Very appreciated! Seems like the squad AI with Joel is a problem. The most recent time i've played he got killed early on so i didn't experience these situations. I do believe the SLA will target him (he did get killed). As for the SLA not shooting at you near the end of the game, that must have been simply the AI not seeing you, because i was killed many times at the Pita Base myself . Gildor-- the codeword might not hit for a few minutes if you achieved 80% kills right at the end. So the finale might have run before the script that checks the codeword-- but i don't know how you would know you've killed 80%? ThudBlunderQ8-- the mortar is invisible and activates after Floyd is rescued. I think with the latest patch something might have changed in regards to helo's, fuel and pilots because Floyd always boarded and left in ArmA 1.08. In 1.14 it seems different, but if the objective toggles off it doesn't really matter. happy gaming!! any suggestions for PB II (for ArmA II) will be appreciated as well!
  8. hey Griffon2-6, Yeh i agree on the choppers. I think I did lock them but the game somehow ignored that. And the AI squad control is tough, i have done a lot on my own as well. That's an ArmA issue. I think when ArmA II comes out i will make a sequel to PB, i've enjoyed it so much and now that over 500 people have played PB i'm even more motivated. Still get emails from people etc. The code word only is released if you win in a certain way...
  9. Excellent, I just managed to capture an Mi-17 near Bagango myself. Of course, i got shot down trying to approach Pita in the rain (first by a T-72 patrol, then by a Shilka)....
  10. Griffon2-6, well done!! I never caught a chopper on the ground before. Can you get in? I can't remember if i locked them or not. Its true Diego's voice files are missing-- i didn't get around to it and wanted to get the game finished. That was probably the only major oversight. By the way, though ArmA has some random bird sounds etc, has anyone noticed the randomized Environmental Sounds when you sit still for a little while? It was THobson's idea and i found a way to get it into ArmA. The sounds change based on whether you are close to buildings or not or in daytime or nighttime...
  11. Great!!!! Â Glad you got it working Coma73. Â Good news . Well, I'm taking a day off from work and playing my own creation, and I think you all may get a laugh out of the PB author getting himself trapped!! Â I attacked the radio tower to help out Floyd and found myself trapped by the tank QRF on the other side of the bridge. Â In this youtube clip you can see the attack, followed by Beria's men hunting us down with helicopters, tanks and infantry!
  12. hi coma73, Sorry you are having troubles getting PB started. It has been betatested by over 100 people, and i've played it successfully on patch 1.08 and patch 1.14, so it may be a problem with add-ons or memory on your PC unfortunately. But don't give up! A few other people have had problems but managed to tweak things to get it to work. Tons of addons or mods might be a factor. Are you all patched up? What mods are you running? Lee
  13. hi Tourist and others, Just FYI, you don't need to rescue Maria to win the game. You will not get a total victory, but you will still get the final cutscene finale etc. Â If you enjoyed PB, you will probably also really enjoy Wolfrug's "Operation Dawning Hope." Very well done and professional attack mission. http://www.ofpec.com/mission....rt=scod PS I'm really glad you enjoy the mission. It means a lot to me as PB was definitely a ton of work! Â I am playing it now after not looking at it for 6 months so its proving very fun, especially with the 1.14 patch
  14. hi guys, sorry i did not receive e-mail notifications of these recent posts, otherwise i would have responded sooner: Tourist) There are no special scripts after Maria. I don't know what happened frankly. Lots of add-ons can cause problems. I backup my save games to different folders in case. Recently i've re-installed ArmA (my PC crashed a million times) and started playing PB on 1.14, so far so good. Sorry i don't know what to say except add-ons and finicky ArmA. Griffon) Did you catch the other references as well? El Sordo was teh guerilla leader in For Whom the Bell Tolls as well...Beria.... etc Its a great book. I almost was going to make this mission originally simply a bridge destruction gambit like the Hemingway book. Thanks Wolfrug for your comments and help as always!!
  15. hi SS9, Sorry you are having problems. Hmmm. Â As you can see a lot of people have played it so far successfully, but i don't know about 1.14 patch. I also don't know much about system requirements so i'd be speculating there. PB was created and finished during ArmA Patch 1.08. Â One option could be to reinstall ArmA (save all your save games and editing stuff in another folder) and then only use patch 1.08. Â I don't know much else about what to suggest other than that really. Anybody else have a good idea? thanks...Lee
  16. hey ThundBlunderQ8, Hahah, glad you enjoyed the endgame finale! It was a lot of fun to create that. Its ok if you never extract the pilot, but yes that is where you can find the mortar. Where did you use the PKM from at Pita? Thanks again for your feedback, much appreciated! And congrats on unlocking the code word for a complete victory!
  17. hi ThundBlunderQ8, Glad you got a couple surprises and are enjoying the mission. It means a lot to me that people are having fun with PB because man it was a lot of work (though i liked it too). I couldn't find the editing commands to turn off your alter-ego during the "Carla Phase" unfortunately. The enemy vehicles north of Pablo are on GUARD mode-- meaning if you are spotted anywhere nearby they will rush to kill you. The Especas are just having a drink at the pub-- that is until you came along . Those civilians are just regular civilians in Carmen, they have no orders or anything. The game itself seems to have a bug with units not following your orders sometimes, very annoying to myself as well. About 10 men is all you can get-- this keeps the suspense level up a bit as you want to be careful not to lose them! Let me know your progress and if you unlock the easter egg code word Lee
  18. hi Snake Rapper, Glad you enjoyed it-- sorry bout the overturned vehicles! I had a hard time adapting scripts to fix that to ArmA unfortunately. But anyway glad you had fun with it!
  19. Thanks for the ideas on future missions. I'm probably going to wait until ArmA II to create another long mega mission, however, as this was a lot of work and time (though fun) and I think I'm going to wait....
  20. hi Kurayami, Thanks for the feedback, glad you are enjoying it. I hope you enjoy the finale when you get to the end as well. For those about to play, i made the first hour much quieter so the player wouldn't be overwhelmed. Â But there are plenty of bad guys out there later-- see if you can avoid getting killed at all if you are up to really challenge yourself. Â If you get surprised and killed even once by a patrol, then those patrols are tough by definition. I tried not to give away too many AT weapons in the patrols you find, otherwise attacking the main base might be too easy. Â A hint would be to use the Mando Mortar as much as possible.... The Blackhawk pilot not moving is ArmA AI unfortunately-- he actually has no orders and the squad control sometimes falls apart in this game unfortunately. Â That may be why he didn't get on board the chopper- but it should not interfere with the mission overall. Â *** SPOILERS Â **** Augustin does run away - he gets combat shock and flees after you kill X number of OPFOR.
  21. Sorry your PC is having problems with it Anc. The mission is large with quite a few OPFOR and other vehicles, and your PC might be having memory problems-- but I don't believe its the mission itself after 100 betatesters went through it and I played it over a dozen times, etc etc. Â I've never seen that error-- maybe try reducing the graphics quality a bit? I would also say try reloading an older save game (copy and paste backups to a separate folder if you can) as a couple people have tried that successfully. Â Please let me know what happens further (either here or in PM)
  22. thanks EricFr, glad you liked it!!! Has anyone found the code word if you won the full victory?
  23. Hi thepiespy, Do you have any backup saves? That's an ArmA problem unfortunately. I've played through the game over a dozen times and 100 people have betatested. The number of variables was reduced dramatically for the final version to allow saves to work. Did you check the save game folder as well and try renaming the file and "loading" it once in the mission? Lee
  24. From what I've heard it works with 1.12, but it must be something with the 6th sense mod and that. I'll check it out on my own. As for patrols, yes the first hour is "easy"-- i try to start the player off without too much aggravation. Believe me you'll find plenty!
  25. Thanks gentlemen! This link might be easier for downloading (also added at the beginning of the post): http://files.filefront.com/PB+Fina....fo.html Its not quite as good as Abandoned Armies, but you will find some similarities
