How to get chopper to take off on radio command
kiwi1234 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi All Ive been searching and have made up a passable chopper extraction setup, but i want the chopper to land, have the players load cargo into it, then i want it to take off and fly away once radio bravo is triggered. I tried syncing the radio trigger to the waypoint, and it works to get the chopper to come in and land (using the dostop Land command) but it wont work to get the chopper to fire up its engines ant take off again... Ideally I would like to ensure the chopper comes in, lands (on radio Alpha), doesnt turn off its engines, then takes off and flys away (on radio Bravo). Can anyone help with this? Much obliged. Also would like to ensure it does this even under fire, while its door gunners return any incoming fire. thanks! -
Ambush Setup Help
kiwi1234 replied to Arma_Fan's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Mate there is an easier way - check out the following: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7074 Play with the attached mission, isolate one of the triggers and you can make an ambush work really well - set it up in the editor then sync the trigger. -
Whats the most efficient way to simulate a chopper crash?
kiwi1234 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi guys I'd like to add a crashed chopper to my new mission, but i'd like to add the effect of the downed trees and the scuffed up rocks that arma now adds to choppers crash sites on it own. Any ideas how to do this please? Thanks. -

Hey thanks for this. No worries re removing the fuel etc, but can you please talk me through setpos getposing the wreck to where the chopper crashed? I'm still learning my way round all the commands in the editor. Thanks, -
Hi all OK i know this should be easy, but i cant seem to get it to work. I have players spawning at 1000 altitude for a halo - i want to have a c130 spawn at 1010 at the same time and the exact same place to simulate the paradrop plane flying off. Simple huh? trouble is i cant get the c130 to spawn at thecorrect height! Can someone please advise the best way to do this? Thanks

Is there a way to disable switch positions in vehicles?
kiwi1234 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Hi all - I want to make it so my MP team cant switch to driver position in the c130. the lockdriver command doesnt seem to work from inside the vehice - apparently this is a known bug? Is there anyway to just dissable all postion switching? for the vehicle i mean. Thanks. -
Hi guys - this is interesting - I'm trying to lock the driver position of the C130 - any idea on how to use this command so that i cant access the driver psotion from inside the plane? (ie workaround the bug)

how to make c130 not playable??
kiwi1234 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
This may be a weird bug, but i have a c130 in my mission where we all start in it and then halo out - even though it is not playable in the editor - when i export the mission to multiplayer, all of a sudden the c130 becomes playable and i have the option to move to the pilot seat! this is so annoying as it seems to effect the ability of teammembers to access the gear option. Is this a bug? Thanks. -

Hi mate Yeah problem with this is i still want to be able to eject for a halo. Locking the c130 means me and my team loose the option to eject. Is there some way i can lock a pilot into the drivers seat so that noone else can swap in there? I have triev move in driver for a random unplayable AI unit - it works fine in the editor, but once i publish the mission, i have the move to drivers seat option again! arghh - its driving me nuts! - excuse the driving pun... any help much appreciated. -

Hey wow Tajin, that worked! So this will update server time also so that enemy are aware of the correct time is that right? Thanks so much Tajin. SBSMAC - thanks so much also - these forums are so damn useful because of guys like you who take the time to help people out. This game has an amazing community because of poeple like you, who are damn clever when it comes to all this scripting stuff, but also patient enough to help others out. It's much appreciated. :-) ---------- Post added at 09:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 AM ---------- Ahh Alas, :-) I spoke too soon... This works, but how do i change the variable? Adjusting the ? (as below) in the trigger init doesnt make any differnce - the code always changes the time to 23:00 hours.. [?] call gotoTime -

kiwi1234 replied to kiwi1234's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi mate Thanks for the help, but no fill rate is still at 125% actually as it always was - and there is no effect on any of the in game graphics - they are crystal clear - its just the menu text which is effected. I havent changed anything since it was working perfectly, with the exception of plugging in a second monitor, which i have since unplugged... any help much appreciated.. ---------- Post added at 12:04 AM ---------- Previous post was Yesterday at 11:30 PM ---------- Ok fixed it - I needed to adjust the cfg file in my arma2 profile to ensure that was was bening rendered was the same as the resolution - this sorted it straight out. Thanks Alex. :-) -

Flight model & Handy Tools for cutscenes
kiwi1234 replied to geloxo's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi there gelaxo, Well since posting asking for a tutorial I have worked out some basic functionality with this (sorry for the rookie approach to this, but i'm learning! Indeed it's great, one question though - any way to make the choppers fly straight and level at a certain speed? setting the speed as you do here results in more seesawing than a day at the park! It would be great to get the choppers to fly straight and level - any way to do this? thanks again, Kiwi -

Hi all These scripts look great, but they do lack a little on the explaination side for us rookies. I wonder could someone be kind enough to post a tutorial of sorts for using the chopper script? Basically a step by step guide to setting up a route for the choppers to fly with actions along they way? thanks heaps Kiwi. -
Hi there, Im making a mission where waves of paratroopers are dropped onto a base, which they then attack. I have worked out how to spawn soldiers as part of a group on the ground to then attack the base using a trigger with this in the init line: deletevehicle JIM; "SOLDIERWB" createunit [getpos ENFORCE, ASSAULT, "BOB=this"] , but im not sure how to get it to spawn them all in parachutes in the air. I guess i need to make a script? Im just learning all this, any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks Kiwi.

kiwi1234 replied to Kristian's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE

Realtek users: New codec = better performance
kiwi1234 replied to stabiz's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
hi stabiz what do you mean 'run better'? I have a realtek onboard sound setup and every time i install realtek drivers my machine becomes unstable and crashes randomly. (not linked with Arma) I have reverted to using the standard windows sound drivers in Vista Ultimate 32, and to be honest they work a charm, no stability issues and they sound great. So i guess im asking what benefits there might be to risk upgrading to these new realtek drivers? My only complaint with ArmA is the damn LOD problem after the beta patch, it sucks waiting a second or so for textures to catch up after changing views. many thanks Kiwi x2 4600 8800 GTS Vista Ultimate 32 2 Gig Ram -

hey Kiljoy just wanted to say a huge thank-you for taking the time to make this. This is an amazing idea and really adds an excellent new dimension to online play. you really have made this game much better. thanks for all your hard work, long may it continue, i look forward to future evolutions of this great map. cheers, kiwi oh one possible suggestion, could you perhaps place repair and rearm and refuel depots at different points on the map, so that a person doesnt need to drive all the way back to the airfield to refuel or repair or indeed pick up a refuel or repair truck to take to a stranded unit?
