So what do you guys think about the way the allies and germans treated each other on the western front. I've heard that both sides shot POWs, but they also respected medics. I think in general on the western front both sides respected the Geneva conventions. Would the amount of German heritage in the US army play any part in this? About the t34. It was a great tank because of it's numbers. In most 1 vs 1 tank battles the Germans would win. The t34 was so import because of the number of units build.

climatic changes, what do you think about that?

3th post from the bottom I'm not saying we shouldn't reduce polution and CO2 output. I just don't want it to be done for the wrong reasons. IF we say now: "We should reduce energy consumption because CO2 causes global warming" and 20 years later it turns out it wasn't the CO2 lots of people will say "Wtf, I got bummed" and noone will ever be as eager to reduce energy consumption as most people are today. -

I think you are talking about this post: I've looked into wikipedia but I can't seem to find anything about the composition of the greenhouse gasses. I can only find tables which show man made greenhouse gasses. Does anyone has found a table about a composition of the greenhouse gas, made up out of all the different gasses, including water and co2. I want to see how big percentage of the greenhouse gasses they are. Further more your post I quoted above kinda shocks me. Are you really prepared to spend like 1% of your GNP on something which you aren't sure off? I certainly ain't. -

Please could you read the thread before posting things that are just plain wrong? Lol, Gisen. Don't you understand that saying things like this and using phrases like "anti-warming crowd" won't be helping you a bit. It will only sound like you're 12 or something. If you want to sound scientific and persuade other persons to share your beliefs act mature. I personally ain't that worried about global warming. I'm more worried about how people react to it. Somehow I got the feeling that because of this hype now you ain't allowed to have different opinions about the subject. People who don't support the CO2 theorie are ridiculed (as you are doing all the time) and sometimes even threatened. We shouldn't forget the fact that lots of people benefit from the CO2 theorie. What I personally don't get about the CO2 theorie is the amount of CO2 gasses. From what I've heard the majority of the greenhouse gasses is made up out of water vapor. CO2 is only a small part. How can this small part have caused such an increase in temperature? I'm personally in favor of reducing our energy consumption. I just don't want it to be done out of a wrong motive. -
Well, they´re good at it and I´m sure they like it

In Holland we recently got a new cabinet made up ouf of 2 christian conservative parties and labour. Some left-wingers don't like this because they think that this governemt will reduce their provocative as Xawery mentioned. Somehow this gives people a sour/bitter feeling which reminds them of Brussels sprout. Brussels sprouts are spruitjes in dutch, hence spruitjesman = our MP Dr. Balkenende. info

This made me want to look at what religions discourage organ transplantation. So it seems, only gypsies and shinto oppose organ transplantation.

Yes, let's decrease the freedom of speach. We think this donor programm is immoral. Let's forbid it. What's next, forbidding the Teletubbies because Tinkie Winkie is gay. Oh, I forgot, they were already thinking about that in Poland. I guess beating gays up whenever they come out of the closeth wasn't enough. Poland I'm in shock, Poland I'm in shock.

The shooter was 23 the drinking age is 21 here. Most states you cannot own a pistol until you are 21, not sure about Virgina however. Woops, always thought it was 18. Btw, how did those Columbine kids got their guns? Illegal, or did legislation change after the shooting? Using your logic I could also say… It's quite simple: Do you want to be able to drink alchohol? If you do, you must accept the fact that sometimes people use that right to kill other people by driving drunk! Driving drunk is not part of your privledge to drink and murder is not part of your right to bear arms. I do accept the fact that drunken people will kill other people sometimes. It might sound weird, but I've made a choice that I want alcohol to be allowed to drink. The result of this is the fact that I risk the change of being killed by a drunk driver. My country made a choice, they are willing to accept the fact that about 50 people get killed by drunk drivers each year, so the rest of the country can drink alcohol. If the USA wants to have the right to carry firearms, the country should also accept the fact that people get killed because of that decision. The question is: How many lives are you prepared to spend each year for your right to carry firearms?

I don't understand why they make such a big deal of this on CNN. Clearly the majority of the Americans want to have the right to carry firearms. This is fine, it's their decision. But why do they act all hyped when somebody shoots up a school, you know this can happen when one is allowed to buy a gun before he is allowed to drink a beer. It's quite simple: Do you want to be able to carry handguns? If you do, you must accept the fact that sometimes people use that right to kill other people!

Me and some other guys were having a discussion on what tank is being hit on this video. I know it's bad quality, but perhaps you guys can see what tank it is even with the low quality footage. Tnx

Well lets see. I came up with 2 candidates: 1) A renewed conflict in the horn of africa. Perhaps Ethiopia and Eritrea will start fighting again, who knows? First Eritrean-Ethiopian War 2) A small clash between Georgia and Russia. Georgia will try to recapture south-Ossetia. Russian "peacekeepers" in south-Ossetia will respond and a small clash will occur before European intervention will make them sign a peace agreement. Georgian-Ossetian conlfict edit: Sc@tterbrain, perhaps you can provide us with your paper. I'm really interested in a worked out example on this subject.

Reading something dutch right now. But recently I read: In short the book tells us what the USA did wrong before and after the iraq war. It's interesting to see how a group of people could make so many stupid mistakes like disbanding the iraqi army and don't act against the looters. Another interesting aspect are the iraqi people who are displayed in the book. You really get to know the impact of the insurgency on their lives. Other books I can recommend you are: Amazon link and a lot of books Frederick Forsyth wrote Forsyth website Another nice fiction book is: Amazon link

Yep Yep, I still remember it. I was the CO in Ryan's Weapons Platoon mission. Some other dude was my artillery officer. We landed on the beach and started moving inland. The markers system fucked up so I was busy finding out where everyone was so I shouted that everyone who needed arty should talk to my arty officer. I send a squad out to capture a hill. They captured the hill and reported it back to me. 1 min later I watched in horror how they got completely nuked by a battery of arty, no survivors. The problem was that everyone was shouting through each other. I asked a squad where they were and they responded in sidechat with "on hill XXX". My arty officer thought they needed arty support and well, you know what happened.
