In RL who pulls out your riflle for a second after you look through your binoculars when you go to use your pistol?
-
Hmm, not sure but maybe you might want to make sure your recording device is still set to use the mic in windows. It could have switched to wave of something like that and creating some sort of feedback. Sounds like you may have already looked at obvious things like that already though. TS works ok if you don't start arma and you can commiunicate ok and all? I know the sound though. I use Roger WIlco and I had to shut it down when I started games with starforce protection or I would get squealing sounds like that. I had to start Roger Wilco after I started the game. But I haven't had those issues with the Securom protection.

Can i install Arma DVD on two different computers?
jdski replied to the_bengine's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
That's such BS that your not supposed to install on differnt machines if you only play on one at a time. It's almost as bad as me having to have seperate insurance policies on each vehicle I own when I can only drive on at a time. -
I added some custom sounds but not a face since one of the stock faces allready looks like me :-) I didn't know about the custom sounds causing lag issues though. I don't use them that much, so now you got me wondering if I should remove them?

It's really worth it though. It makes it really immersive and helpfull just moving your head to look around. THe Proclip is a powered unit that clips on your headset that has LED lights on it instead of using a clip that goes on a ballcap with refelctive tape. It's a bit more stable then using the reflective clip option. You can turn off the recieving camera's infered iluminators and you don't get hathead.

I get the same problem and not only with ArmA but many games. I think I only have a few later games that actually don't give me problems like this when tuning on hardware acceleration in the game. I'm using an Audigy 2.

I'm not sure what caused your problem, but you can try forcing DirectX sound or OpenAL sound by adding the following commands to your startup icon. -dsound         Use DirectX sound. -openal         Use OpenAl sound. Just right click your icon for ArmA and select properties. In the target box add the -dsound or -openal  to the end of the line. It should for example look like this I:\ArmA\arma.exe -nosplash -dsound Notice in mine I have ArmA installed on my "I" drive and I also have -nosplash in there as well so I don't get those startup splash screens. Try both of the sound drivers and see if either one works. It will only follow those commands when you use that altered icon and not all the ArmA icons you may have in other locations. I'm also curious if you tried starting TS after starting ArmA if you get the same problem.

I noticed this the other day playing evolution and I was stuck in the spawning building because a guy wouldn't move. I tried to go prone to get around him, and he died.

Can you actually notice a difference yourself or just see higher numbers now? I mean, at 60, you should take advantage and crank up the settings and be happy to get in the 30's which should not affect your gameplay any but have it look better. It's kind of a waste to get those high framerates if you don't have everything cranked up, because you really shouldn't be able to see the difference in framerates with the eye, but you could see the difference cranking up the graphic settings.

Have you looked at this site? http://dslyecxi.com/armattp.html

I think he was asking how expert AI are, not normal ones.

I think I loved the ability to haul things around the most in BFV with the choppers. That was more fun then killing the enemy for me. Shame they never implemented TrackIR support. Plus there were just too many gunships in BFV making life a drag for the grunt sometimes.

Is the horrible vehicle steering optional? UGH!
jdski replied to iconoclastdx's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I use my joystick to steer the vehicles. But there is something still weird about the way they handle. It's like there isn't much response near center and it isn't until you give almost full deflection then suddenly you get a ton of steerage. This causes you to oversteer very easily. -
You have to use fast forward in a crouch. Not just the normal run. Every time I get about 3 strides after letting go. But several seconds, that does sound like something different.
-
I use a Thrustmaster Cougar Hotas with Simped rudders. A TrackIR with ProClip. I'm a lefty so I have my mouse on the left side and the throttle sits in front of my mouse pad. Having the mouse on the left has been an advantage in flight sims as I can use the mouse and joystick at the same time comfortably. I'm not fully left handed as in a negitive of a right handed person. I still do most other things with my right hand like right handed people, so the joystick on the right is comfortable for me. I guess you could say I'm somewhere mixed up between right armed and left handed.

Bull, i stop moving (almost) the moment i release the buttons. When you run, it does not stop instantly. When crouched, or walking, yes. Â It doesn't always do this, it depends when you release the button. If you release at the end of a stride, it may only do another step. But if you release in the middle of a stride, it may go two more steps. Same thing happends when you go prone. What might be causing this to happen more is lag when playing online adding to the delay. --edit-- Ok I did some testing around and found that the delay in stopping happens mostly when you are crouched, then run while holding fast forward and then releasing. Almost 99% of the time I get a few extra steps when doing this. It doesn't have anything to do with lag either. I stop instantly when standing and using fast forward and stopping. It seems to only happen when crouched and using fast forward.

Everyone gets this. Sometimes it may vary on how much farther you go after you release the forward button. Your just beating your head against the wall if you think your going to be able to change this with hardware or any other settings. What I do is go to the walk state when I don't want to run to far around a corner etc.

I only get the twitch when I take a drag off of my ciggarette because it see's the glow and it thinks it's another dot. I did move my sensor camera farther back which helps overall with the motion. My dots were going out of bounds and causing irratic behaviour before I did this.

I don't think anyone was complaining about VOIP he was just saying back when it was new and not everyone had VOIP, some might have felt it was a cheat because they didn't have it. I wish people would use it more often. I'm not sure if they are mic shy or using TS instead. The ingame voip work well now and has more features then any outside VOIP app with the direct comm and vehicle channels. The problem with using TS is that not everyone may have it or get the IP in time to tune in leaving them in the dark. Or they might not have a mic at all so they never got any VOIP apps. At least with the ingame VOIP, everyone can hear you even if they don't have a mic.

On your desktop shortcut icon, right click on it and select properties. In the target box you add " -window" without the quotes. It should look like \ArmA\arma.exe -nosplash -window Notice I also have -nosplash so I don't get those logo screens when starting the game.

Why is the atari link still up if it points to the 1.06 exe? Yes the original post about the securom 7001 problem was closed by a modorator with the only known solution for a fix was to delete the registries. This was the only thread that had posts also relating to the 7001 bug. THis is the only forum that seems to have any traffic and any hint of a possible solution. No official words from BIS, Atari or Securom on thier web pages about this problem.

I personally don't have any issues running the game. My brother does. The solution given wasn't clear on which registiries to delete. Some said delete the duplicates. Which he has none. Others said delete the ones with /??/volume.. in the name. I'm not that familiar myself with messing with the registry myself. My brother is even less familiar. I told him to back up his registry first, which I believe you do with the windows program "backup" Well I have backup, but he said he couldn't find the program on his machine. So he has no known way to back up his registry that we know of. I can't blame him for not wanting to delete registries when not feeling comfortable with it. I really don't think he should even be asked to. I talked my brother into buying this game. Now I have mud on my face for having him buy a game that he can't play. You think I'm going to push him to risk messing up his system deleting registries when he isn't able to back it up and is uncomfortable with it? So yea I'm hopeing there will be another solution. I think in the 12 years I've been messing with PC's I've only had to mess with my registry a handfull of times. I've never been asked to blindly delete registies "at my own risk" that "may not work" to get a bad patch working for a game. I might have tried it myself to get the game working, but I won't push him to. What does tick me off the most is the official approach and handling that has been so unprofesional to say the least. Not everyone has time to be going though so much to get a game working or should be asked to risk this much as far as deleting registies which everyone knows can screw things up bigtime if you don't know what your doing. Is this now become an expected requirement to be able to play PC games now? Why didn't they write that on the side of the box?

That's right. Which means it will contain more then just one specific problem. So it would be helpfull if people would mention which problem they are reffering to in thier posts so people don't go though the steps of possible fixes that are for an entire diffent problem all together.

Vietnam vets said they could tell when the enemy was near because they could smell them. Being I can't smell anything in this game, there really needs to be a compromise with these AI and they're triangulation ears. I would like to see the AI do stupid thing like us humans do sometimes. Not robot stupid, but human stupid. Some should just suck at aiming. Some should waiste ammo and spray and pray. Or do some covering fire while the others advance. Nothing wrong with some being as good as a shot as they are now, but not every one of them. Let some keep firing where I was, while I sneak up on them and outflak them for a change. Maybe part of the problem is that the AI get the same info we get on the map showing enemy positions. But they don't need to stop and look at the map and try to determine where the enemy is in the 3d world. They seem to get this info on a constant stream to their AI brains.

I'm confused as to which problem people are reffering to in this thread. It seems there are at least a few different problems listed now, but people aren't always mentioning which problem they are having or had, which was fixed or not, and what these alternative .exe's are meant to fix etc. I'm still looking for a fix for the securom 7001 error. This whole thing seems really quite a mess.
