Things that should of been added from the start: BTR-80 : A good M113 counterpart. M14 Battle Rifle : Well... it would of been better than a G36 or a pffff ... Kozlise. M249 SAW : May not of been used much in the 80's. But it would serve great as a squad-level support weapon. The M60 can't hit the broad side of a barn and has a poor damage model. (in-game) SKS : Would be an ideal Resistance weapon. M16A2 w/ 4x ACOG : For "BlackOps". INDIRECT FIRE!! : Howitzers, Mortars and Self-propelled Artillery. Please BIS!

I think it's used for AI who drive vehicles. If you disembark from a vehicle with AI driving and try to get back in, the AI will drive the vehicle away from you attemping to keep a formation. Now, If you give them the "wait for me" command, they will wait untill you enter the vehicle and automaticlly return to the current formation.

Whats up with the commander seat in the Catshark (radar)? It doesen't work for me ... The pilot just ignores me. And why on earth did you include 2 .avi movies and a 7MB .pdf file!!!!!!!!? Do you have a chip on your shoulders for 56kers or somthing? .. Jesus. (and yes, I'am a 56ker) Other than that it's a really fun AddOn. The flight model is great... requires some skill to fly though. -
Well the aircraft should have two types of radar to make it more challenging. An Air radar and a ground radar, so you can't target ground targets using the air radar and vice versa. Radar's should be realisticly modelled too. First of all , having a radar on will icrease you 'visibility level' to enemy air/ground units. So when you don't need them, you should be able to turn them off. They should also be prone to clutter and jamming/interference... i.e not being able to spot an enemy unit it built up areas (towns, city's). When not using the radar you should be able use some sort of EOS (electro-optical system) like FLIR or DTV to manually lock air/ground targets within visual distance. Kinda like what we have now when you press 'v' in some choppers. The Jets need some sort of EOS too. Maybe an option for verteran mode maybe? So cadets get the normal radar.

Just played this damn mission agian and I still get put in prison. Whats going on?! Here's what I do: 1. I hang back from convoy as it gets ambushed. Shoot a few soldiers and drive back to Lamentin when I get the radio message. (I don't hang around .. I just shoot the ones I see then drive off) 2. I deploy my squad at the southern road like i'm told. Take out the T-72 and the squad that follows it. Oh yeah and I took out the hind with the Vulcan. 3. ....nothing happens 4. ....nothing happens 5. I decided to drive up the road towards Le Moule too see if there are any strays. I found one on the roadside by the tree's and killed him. Then about 300m up the road I get the "I see T-80's.. i dunno if i can hold" message follwed by someone saying there is boat on the way. 6. I take command of Lamentin and get a "Home sweet home" waypoint. Few mins later along comes 2 T-80's, I managed to take them out after nearly getting run over. Then it puts a red cross over "Hold southern road" objective, when infact I've held it. 7. ....nothing happens.. 8. ..So I find that boat and get my squad in it. There is not enough room for me so I tell one of my squad to kill the last man. I get in and.... 9....nothing happens... 10. The boat driver does not move, so I'am forced to get out and shoot him and the gunner. I drive the boat to the "Home sweet home" waypoint at the hospital and the notepad comes up. Gives me gold stars but says i've failed and will be put in jail!!!!!! WTF??

It means that not enough memory could be allocated to OFP - so it crashed. Two soloutions; 1) Increase your swap file size and/or 2) Buy more RAM (double it if you can)

The weakpoint on the OFP hind is the air intakes. One AAM in that area and the engine shuts down. -
Screw civ's all they do is get in the way. Especially if I want to call in my 105mm Howitzer and there is men running around like fairys lying on the pavements. (if you kill too many civs your AI side will shoot you) And wildlife is a load of polygons and CPU power that could be used somewhere else.

Agreed! Some very legitimate issues indeed. Making flying more of a hazard would spice up the gameplay a tad. Only problem is that OFP's damage model is prehaps not the most realistic in the world. For example, you could constantly shoot the landing gear and the whole chopper would eventually blow up - damned health point damage system. But yeah, I would like the AI to start throwing the heavy stuff at helo's. Who knows, maybe they do this in OF: Resistance. -
I voted for artillery (mobile), I dont see why this wasen't added to OFP in the first place. Maybe M109A6 'Paladin' for the West. 2S19 (152mm) or BM-21 Grad MRS (Ural with rockets) for East. Other things I would like are: BTR-80 w/ 14.5mm KPVT MG BRDM-2 w/14.5mm KPVT MG Yak-41 Freestyle UAZ w/ MG HMMWV w/ mounted M2 or M60

I've got an idea for the aiming system. You could have the MLRS operate like the TOW launcher on the M2A2, expcept with a higher arc of fire (so it goes up like Kegteys Javelin) and a much longer range. For long ranges you could increase the view distance so you could lock onto targets far away. Would that be possible?

I own Ghost Recon and MOH:AA. They have not been played since completing them. OFP still sits in the CD-ROM drive and is played almost every day. Anyway .. if BF42 doesent kill itself with bugs, cheaters and poor gameplay - EA certainly will.

Hmm yes & no. YES it's the best single player infantry sim ATM. NO this is not the best mulit-player game. unfortunately, I find my MP experience elsewhere. Fix the muiltplayer netcode, get a strong modding community going and sort the god awful textures and sounds out. Make it more military (none of this Dimitri Lukin gets pissed nonsense), more realism and more diversity. Then .. hey presto! You've got THE BEST game ever.

Well, it's nice to see people talking about this idea. I've been ranting on about some sort of dynamic OOB style gameplay for a while now. I went back to playing EECH a few moths ago and thought how good it would be if it was applied to the OFP engine. EECH is just a chopper sim, but combined with OFP's diversity it could make a cracking conflict sim. You could take on the role of an attack helicoper pilot and engage in a SEAD mission. Or you could grab a rifle and mount an infantry assault, or even put on your balaklava and go recce an enemy base with the Black Ops. Gaining rank, medals and experience on the way. I really hope this sort of gameplay takes off.

It's bound to happen at some point. Regardless of what BIS has done for them. Nevertheless, I expect BIS have already anticipated the consequences of their decision.
