I think the Americans have tipped the balance slightly. The russians need an extra attack helicopter. My suggestion would be the Mi-28 Havoc. The BRDM should have a turret MG also. But then again, so should the Humvee.

I use the mouse for helicopters and the joystick for planes.

BIS, IMO have neglected the multiplayer aspect. Waiting 10-30 mins fo a game simply is'nt acceptable. Half-Life is a prime example of a thriving community. Decent netcode, mods etc. OFP's feet never touched the floor.

I was playing a CTF on Kolgujev (8v8 - it was laggy). I started as a WEST soldier in my base with an M16 and I decided to take a mortar from an ammocrate nearby. I'd played the map before and roughly knew where the enemy base was. So I loaded the mortar and elavated my rifle in the air and took a totally blind pot shot. Next thing I know, I hear a big 'boom!' and I'd managed to take out 4 people out! Another funny kill was when I was driving an M1A1 alone. I'd just been ambushed by a T-80 and took a few hits, becuase I coudlent see where it was. He hits me again and my main gun gets disabled, so I jump back into the drivers seat and tried to drive away and hide. As I'm driving away I saw him nestled in between 2 bushes and saw that he had me in his sights. So i swerved around and rammed him and I pushed him down onto a beach. I kept pushing him untill he went into the water and he blew up, killing the 2 people that were inside. So I quickly ejected. Then I got bombarded with insults

The Mi-24 Hind is  as fast as an Apache, is more resilient towards hand-held SAMs, it's armored like a tank, and it has many, MANY missiles<span id='postcolor'> Thats not what I said... I dident say the hind was slower, less armed and less armoured. I said AH-64 was more advanced in terms of technology. Some guy from BIS have said they are going to "slowly" relase an "SDK" feature. It was said in an interview. It's not going to be like some massive SDK with the ability to create evrything. Instead, just a few seperate programs - which are said to come with little documentation or support.

The FAMAS woulden't be a tottaly unrealitic weapon to use. I've seen US Marines using them in Afghanistan.
-
I use a cheapy MS Sidewinder and I've turned the throttle off, it's a fucking nightmare to fly with. I use the stick in accordance with the Q and Z keys..much easier that way.
-
I'm tempted to say the Hind, but I dident. Yes ok, the Hind is a very well armed chopper, it's well armoured, and flys reasonably well. HOWEVER.. in terms of real life spec the AH-64 would be the best due to it's superoir weaponry, advanced avoinics and targeting systems - which arn't eveident in OFP. But if we are to compare the Mi-24 and AH-64 in OFP, then they emerge in roughly the same grounds. So, I voted for the AH-64 becuase of it's REAL LIFE atributes.

What about improving the the vehicle damage modeling. For instance; AT(G)M's, shells fired at tank tracks break them off and render them extremly slow or motionless. Same with car and truck wheels. - Shooting the commanders periscope , breaking it and making it hard to see (cracked). Or dammaging the driver and gunners optics with AT(G)M's or shell fire. - Realistic sencondary explosions. Like the magazine, fuel going up. (Any one seen the vidoes from the gulf war of Iraqi T72's magazines blowing up?) - Change exiting a tank so that you have to be 'turned out' to get out of it. I've noticed how they can get out without even opening the hatch! - Smoke grenade launchers on the side should be activated. - Make the tank engines alot more powerfull. (not faster) ..um, and thats all I can think of for now.
-
Wait, I take that back. BIS should make some more islands, not big ones..just small ones for multi-player games. The game would run alot smoother that way.

Evrything!!

I chose mission editing, it's very intuative. I cant really enjoy multiplayer though because I'm on a 56k.

...and lets not forget about the BRDM, that needs some sort of armament. It's totally useless in MP becuase not only is it unarmed, it's piss weak. And It's easily taken down by small arms fire. So it should get an MG.
-
A new Russian chopper. The Mi-28 Havoc or the Ka-50 Hokum. And the Hummer was always useless, becuase we already had 2 jeeps. I say we stick a Mk19 or an M60 on it.

If you could pick, what would you change to make OFP better?

....and another thing I forgot was 'tank riding', yeah. I mean, lets face it who actually would wanna sit inside a BMP?, uh?...not me. I would wanna sit on top! -
It's worthless becuase most people had already completed the campaign before it was released. I expect they included it to bump up the price - dirty bastards.
-
As for as I know, we can't - it's just the defualt player stance. I know what you mean, it's looks really stupid holding your weapon at shoulder height all the time. A different stance for each combat mode would probably be the answer.
-
I gave it a score of 8. It suffers from poor sounds and crummy mult-player. But overall it's a fun, enjoyable and realistic infantry sim.

Before OFP came out, I always imagined it to be a 'real time battlefield' type game. But, It turned out to be just one single mission that took part on one large island. I think OFP was always suited to one-giant-conflict which took place 24/7, much like WWIIOL and EECH. In EECH, you literally..just pick your mission, role, helicopter and carry it out over a vast realtime battlefield. All sorts of things take place like; enemy artillery strikes, enemy counter-attacks, airstrikes, logistical support etc. For instance, a recce mission is called for..so I select my RAH-66, fly out with my full-stealth-config to my target, transmit recon data to base and 30 mins later, along comes a sqaudron of A-10's and blows the #### out of it! This is how I imagined OFP, but I know for shure that in OFP's current state..it would be impossible. Imagine how multiplayer could be? Maybe OFP2? -
