    Linux server setup howto

Hia all, could any1 gimme a pointer on how to auto restart the linux server with different configs. Like im now manually starting 2 diff configs, one with Y2k3 addons and one without it. I checked out some old posts on how to restart server but in those scripts i cannot say what config i want to start. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....5;st=45 Also could anyone gimme some info on how to check if a player has a specific file loaded, and if he hasnt he wont be allowed onto the server, like an autokick if someone hasnt loaded up correct adons. Any input much appreciated as always Screamer

    Y2K3 - Updated Ofp Config.

New question about Y2K3 and linux server.... Is there any way of preventing people NOT running Y2K3 crashing the server. Now we have the Y2K3 pack up on our server we constantly seeing peeps comin in without the pack. They immediately crash the server if u run a map. People in game get the message that they cant find bis_resistance addon and byebye server. So the clients are crashing the host. And as we are running no addon maps anyone can come in. Hope there's a solution to this problem................... << imho this thread is becoming 2 big 2 search in, u cant expect peeps to read 140 pages of messages for a solution, how easy it may be >>

    Y2K3 - Updated Ofp Config.

Solution for Invalid texture aspect ratio (512x32) on a Linux server running Y2K3. Had a talk to admin of spanish clan SSU. They also run Y2K3 on their linux server. Solution for this error is that the INQ_HTTV.pbo has a 512*32 size black texture in it. U can unpbo it and put in a 512*64 size black texture and repbo it. Upload it onto ur server into the Y2K3/ addons dir and overwrite the one thats there. It isnt needed on the clients so dont worry. A ready made file is available, get it in this post http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....8;st=15

    Linux server setup howto

Also running linux server, pretty smooth till now. Lately we are trying running y2k3 on it, but it crashed on seemingly default maps that run no addons at all. Error im getting is Invalid texture aspect ratio (512x32). Anyone read a solution for this cos i dont seem to be able to solve it? any pointer is greatly appreciated, im running out of options myself. And can someone tell what files i have 2 look for if i wanna read the server logs? TIA Screamer =ASP=

    Y2K3 - Updated Ofp Config.

=ASP= server is now running fine on y2k3 and linux. Was a bit of a hassle.... oh yeah for ur info pappy, problem we had was related to the resource.cpp file, apparently it has to be in the ofp root dir for y2k3 to work We only have one minor problem now, a small but deadly error which crashes the server. Seems even on default maps i get an Invalid texture aspect ratio (512x32) error. Could this have anything to with the y2k3 replacements for default addons like g36 orso? Im still in the dark on how 2 solve this problem. One of the maps i luv 2 play is DawnRaid and it has this problem. Maybe any of u can check it out................ Started to go tru this thread, see if i could find sumtin that could help me solve this but i fell asleep at page 55 out of 137 :-) greetz, Screamer

    MP server "Bug" question

Running on Debian GNU/Linux with default (no wierd stuff) Y2K3 addons. Cpu 2.4 intel/ 1024 memory. Server connected with a 100mbit pipe I adjusted server setting according to someone at LOL who gave me theirs. Mite be the cause but in havent had ony1 else with the knowledge to adjust em (yet) cfg settings: // Performance Tuning MaxMsgSend = 2048; // Maximum number of messages that can be sent in one simulation cycle. Increasing this value can decrease lag on high upload bandwidth servers. Default: 128 MaxSizeGuaranteed = 512; // Maximum size of guaranteed packet in bytes (without headers). Small messages are packed to larger frames.Guaranteed messages are used for non-repetitive events like shooting.Default: 512 MaxSizeNonguaranteed = 256; // Maximum size of non-guaranteed packet in bytes (without headers). Non-guaranteed messages are used for repetitive updates like soldier or vehicle position.Increasing this value may improve bandwidth requirement, but it may increase lag.Default: 256 MinBandwidth = 2097152; // Bandwidth the server is guaranteed to have (in bps). This value helps server to estimate bandwidth available. Increasing it to too optimistic values can increase lag and CPU load, as too many messages will be sent but discarded.Default: 131072 //MaxBandwidth = 524288; // Bandwidth the server is guaranteed to never have. This value helps server to estimate bandwidth available. 524288 = 512Kbps Hope this info helps..............

    Mod configuration with linux server

promised u guys an update, well i moved all addons to normal default addons dir and most maps are working, problem is that a non working map will never show why it aint working, unlike when u run em tru the MP mission editor of OFP itself . I tried some mission on my home pc (wich i setup as a 1 on 1 copy of the server as far as addons goes) and the non working maps on the server run fine at home...... Could it be that cos of the server running on linux its all gotta do with case sensitivity, i know linux is but does the actual name of an addon need to be excact same or is upper/lowercase in this case not important? im on the case u mite say :-) greetz, ISMO

    Mod configuration with linux server

tanx for your replies but either theres is a verry buggy addon in my folders somewhere or sumting else. both settings you guys are tellin work fine, but when i add 3 diff mod folders, ofp wont run. Now these mod folders are really specia, one has all bas in it, one with most russian addons, and one with extra like winterpacks and so on, all tested addons no funny stuff, i have em all running on a i386 server no problem. im getting sick and tired of this shit, got a great 100mbit server now which i cant configure proper. Upped 1.2 gigs od addons which i cant use this way. Next ill just drop all addons into one big addon dir and be done with it, or someone should have another solution or fix. greetz,
  14. Hi all, been trying to find out if there is a way i can startup a 1.96 linux server with additional mod folders. Tried some fiddling with the config but it seems ofp will not start with more the one added mod folder tried this setup set config = "server.cfg" set basadd = "@bas" set ecpadd = "@ecp" set extadd = "@ext" screen -A -m -d -S ofp ./server -config=${config} -ip=${ip} -port=${port} -mod=${basadd} -mod=${ecpadd} -mod=${extadd} or tried also the set mods = "@bas;@ecp;@ext" with the -mod=${mods} settings, both wont work and server wont start. both settings running just one modfolder worx fine, adding more runs into difficulties any thoughts on this would help TIA, ismo
