Radishville - Any old timers left?
hpsfface replied to Angry Radish's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SQUADS AND FANPAGES
I'm alive and playing BF3, CivV, and a little bit of PlanetSide2. I've checked to see if Radishville every now and then but I'm not in contact with anyone from the old days. I've since moved to Portland, OR, been married, and have a 1.5-year-kid. How are you these days? -
My 8800GTS works just fine. When I was able to play it was smooth as butter. ArmA is what doesn't work.
-
And that is assuming this thread doesn't get pushed back a few pages in the forum by then. Thanks for any word on what the f*ck is going on and why the link was shit.

Maybe he works for SecuRom and came to bury the '1.08 doesn't boot thread' thread....
-
I'm disappointed that it took so long for any official work about the problems with 1.08 no launching after the patch with no error messages. I'm further disappointed that the 1st real response was 'it is a securom problem, not ours' and securom doesn't seem that it is necessary to answer to the end user since B.I is their customer. Lastly, I'm pushed over the edge by the end result being that we (atari, us version users) got a link to an exe file for 1.06 on a friday afternoon and the only thing B.I. says is, we will let them know about it..... Well thats great, make sure they know about it but don't make anything happen. It's about to get into the 3rd week of not being able to play after patching....

Hi, I want a game that doesn't work worth a damn disabling the rest of the functionality of my computer.... Great Idea. Can they make it lock down all my bandwidth to so I won't be downloading teh cheatz while I'm playing?
-
My understanding this was about the no boot, dvd spins then nothing. No error, just no boot as per the original post: Why is the atari link still up if it points to the 1.06 exe?
-
This is the Patch 1.08 doesn't boot thread....
-
I just hope I can play this again at some point today. Gotta think its just a mix up and there IS a working .exe for us atari people and they just have to fix the link.

QUALITY FTW!!!!!

I have the pixel shader error also now on both Vista and XP with the Atari version. Clean installs on both operating systems. This is incredibly absurd. Arma.exe 1.6.0.5151 and it still says Product version 1.06 modified 5/9/2007 (US date format) bin.pbo = 1.98 MB (2,082,970 bytes) size on disk=1.98 MB (2,084,864 bytes) in XP and Vista < that is if you open properties, the 'details' about the file if you just have the dta folder open says 2,035 KB. And no, I didn't uninstall, delete everything and then install again and repatch and then substitute this new .EXE. Why would that work since we are just throwing a new executable into the folder? If it did anything other than launch the game, I could see a point. I've uninstalled this damn game just about enough since trying to patch it to 1.08 and untill some other person confirms they get it working, I'm not doing another thing.

It doesn't matter who's fault it is. In the end, it is BI's problem because it is their next game I won't buy if things aren't corrected. I'm sure as hell not buying an expansion to an unplayable game.... 'Click shortcut, nothing happens' is pretty bad but what is worse is no official word about it. This is insult to injury after having to tweak the hell out of my system just to run the game to start with AND having to turn settings way down on a very high-end system so I can play on a MP server without crashing every fifteen minutes. I played the HELL out of OFP and then played the battlefield series for a while and always wished EA did things the way BI used to. Sad that I would rather be dealing with EA right about now as at least they would communicate while they were fucking their games up. I haven't been able to play for over a week now also after a fresh install of both XP and Vista and I'm about ready to just call it quits w/ Arma altogether.

Interesting. Â I did the same thing you did except the result was that mine did work. Â Did you happen to update your Windows XP before launching the game as well? No. Â I didn't install any updates on either OS (I did select dynamic updates for Vista during install though.) Â I only installed the drivers I needed and nothing more. I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Â It's hard to stay enthusiastic after a point.

I have the same problem and went so far as to wipe my hard drive (secure erase) and put a fresh XP install on it (SP2). Â I updated Nvidia drivers (158.22) and installed ArmA (1.06 DVD). Â It worked fine. Â I then installed the patch (US version) and still no dice. Â Just a spinning DVD and arma in the task manager for a few seconds then nothing. Â I did the same with a Vista Home Premium install on another HDD and I get the same results. There is nothing that could be messed up other than the patch. I was running the 1.07 beta just fine also and the dedicated server exe does not launch for me. I get a generic error report about how Arma has encountered a problem.... I'm running on a Striker Extreme + E6600 with a 8800 GTS 640MB.
