ArmA AntiCheat for Servers and Map makers

Is it possible to set up a server to autokick or disallow a connection for user id's that are too long? I've noticed that the suspect players (hackers) always seem to have a long id, like 10 digits, where regular players have a 6 or 7 digit id. (I'm at work so I don't have access to my game to check the normal id length)

    Variety...

Are there any other good multiplayer maps out there besides evolution ([r]evolution) and berzerk? I like evo and berzerk, but variety is the spice of life, so they say. It seems that these maps, and derivations of these maps, occupy 9/10's of the most populated servers. So what's the next big thing? Are there any server owners who have a promising map that's not getting the playing time it deserves?

    Regarding Atari patch 1.08

That's good news! At this point, I don't mind if it takes a little longer, I just want the patch to install without errors. (I never could get the beta to work - and I have no addons, etc, just a vanilla 1.06 install)

Game halts for 2/3 seconds when I access Gear

Medicare - if you've got nvidia gfx card, you might check your nvidia control panel again. I tweaked my control panel - disabled vsync, set AA and AF to application controlled- about a month ago, and it definitely improved performance. Out of the blue, I started having graphics problems. It turns out that the global settings in control panel had all been changed-- Vsync was "enabled" and AA and AF were no longer "application controlled." Needless to say, I didn't change them; somehow nvidia decided to reset itself. Anyway, have a look at your control panel. Hopefully its something easy like this.

Men & Entities not visible through windows

@Deadmeat- Thank you for the informative posts! Would lowering the detail levels help resolve the issue, i.e., would setting the texture, objects, shadows, post-processing etc... to "low" or "very low" result in proper alpha rendering? Or is there any particular setting that would affect the priority level of the alpha drawing more than the others? Basically I'm thinking (hoping?) that giving the engine fewer textures to draw would result in fewer textures disappearing. @Manday - this may be completely beside the point, but last night I noticed that the changes I made in Nvidia control panel had mysteriously reset themselves. Previously, I had set AA and AF to "application controlled" and disabled VSync in the global settings. Last night I was having problems with graphics. When I brought up the control panel, the global settings were set to AA-4x, AF-2x, and Vsync was on. After fixing them, my graphics problems disappeared. I don't know if it has anything to do with this issue, but it's just something to check on when you're getting inconsistent results with the same map. (I suspect that, in my rig, the random reset problem results from the nvidia control panel and rivatuner not cooperating in the management of my 7900GT.)

    Druganov Sight?

Eihort - I've also noticed that the calibration was off, but I never put the time in to test it. Did you happen to record your results? I would really like to know what the actual range is for the top 3 chevrons on the bullet drop compensator. edit - thanks Plaintiff1; that was quick

    arma beta patch 1.07

Thanks for the quick reply awins. No, I haven't replaced any original addons. I guess I've just had bad luck with corrupted downloads. Perhaps madman and I have gotten the same bad download, since we got the same mssg and we're using two different versions.

    arma beta patch 1.07

I've downloaded the patch from three different mirrors and I get the exact same message when I try to install it. I'm using the US release by Atari (the boxed DVD, not the download.) Has anyone been able to patch the Atari DVD up to 1.07? I've either had bad luck downloading corrupted patches or 1.07 beta just won't install on the Atari DVD version. I would appreciate any help troubleshooting this one, as I'm sure Madman would like to know if the Euro DVD can be patched as well.

I've got the opposite problem--just bought a copy of Resistance and it has no field manual. Not a happy camper.
