A BMP is a bucket on tracks. A bradley can walk over one with ease, trust me. I wouldn't sit into a BMP heading towards a combat zone ever, it's a rolling coffin. true the BMP-3 (default armor) can only protect against limited .50 caliber (12.7 mm) fire from 50 meters on whereas the bradley (default armor) can protect against 30 mm cannon fire. Both can be outfitted with armor upgrades, though obviously the bradley is far superior to the BMP. in OFP however the bmp-2 provided slightly more protection than the bradley and the armor values system was primitive. hopefully arma will be much better. As for the stryker replacing the bradley...that would be bad because they are almost in different categories within the APC class. The stryker's armor is much weaker than the bradley's. Â lets hope we can get some screenshots with bradleys soon armor comparison chart as you can see there the bradley even in the a2 upgrade (which was in flashpoint) was far more superior than the BMP-3 which could only protect agaist 12.7 mm. note the basic, applique, and initial armor protection levels.

Well i dunno if there will be a bradley seeing as there have been no screenshots or sightings in videos. I hope the stryker-BTR thing isn't one of those cheap "balance" in games crap where one side can't have more stuff than the other. If that's why there isnt a bradley then Â

I havn't seen a single m2a3 the entire time from when BI started releasing screenshots up until now. My guess is they forgot to screenshot it (I hope)? The Bradley is a common & effective vehicle and will be in use by the US army for a while...so i don't know why they wouldn't make one

    ArmA Progress Updates

I recall from a couple of months ago a thread asking Placebo himself for a community Q&A session. He responded, telling us to remind him once "we seem to have found our path (or something like that)". Anyone wanna give him a try? (perhaps after his vacation). Anyway, sweet wiki. Box cover looks nice, awesome!

I havn't seen any of these before (found the link on armedassault.org) and you can navigate through them via the 2 buttons below the screenshots. there are about 40 new screenshots, except i can't enlarge them in a new window. anyone have the same problem?
  6. In wikipedia.org I came across an article called Operation Flashpoint 2 which esentially represented "game2". I think that wikipedia is a good place to pool information because it's like a virtual encyclopedia and since anyone can edit the page, maybe somebody who knows more than the rest of us can update there sometimes? Just a thought. EDIT: Here is the link in case you have a hard time finding it. If you know any additional info then edit the page and add stuff!!

    ArmA Progress Updates

Can anybody translate the entire article? On the OFP.info site it said that the info provided was only a part of the entire thing, and since it's three pages i'm sure that there has to be more good stuff in there. Anyone wanna step up? (I dont speak polish so im helpless here)

PC Discussion Thread - All PC related in here.

Don't buy a computer from alienware; they are very overpriced. May i suggest building your own? It teaches you some new skills and it'll cost about 900 bux. visit newegg.com for all the parts. Although alienwares are high-quality, the price is just too high. A good reliable computer can be hand built for almost half as less, or order from monarchpc.com. monarchpc has a very good reputation and generally costs much less than an equivalent alienware.

Just some things... (From 160mb Demo Vid)

Agreed. The running animations seem to be unfinished (?) and the weapon view is...new. Usually when you run, your weapon is pointed down and therefore you don't even see it until you aim. The weaponview in AA (from the vids) block a lot of sight and I hope BI changes it. I also agree that the helmet should stop bullets, although not CS-style. I hope that range and bullet caliber (ballistics) play a role in helmet protection in ArmA, as I see no reason why not to implement it (It is realistic).

What do you *HOPE* will be in ArmA?

I'd like to see something that NO game has ever brought us- Realistic weapon sounds. No matter where I look, every single game, from battlefield 2 to ghost recon, to OFP and beyond, still hasn't had realistic gun sounds. I've seen many of the weapons in OFP fired IRL, and the sounds from FPS games don't nearly match the sounds from their real life counterparts. Please BIS, bring us realistic gun sounds! It makes the game that much better

yeah those pink mists are really starting to bug me i'm pretty sure that BI is going to change it for Arma

I also noticed that there wasn't any blood or anythign at all in these new screenshots. I hope that BI had deleted all the blood files when the demo was released for the e3 presentation and were working on a new system of complex blood textures or damage decals . Since the blood should be directly related to damage modelling, hopefully we can see some body armor making a difference in the revised damage modelling *(lets hope they do)*.

ArmA + future games = dropping vection aiming?

don't dump all the amazing features of ArmA and game2 just cuz of a crappy crosshair. if you dont like the crosshair then i suggest you make one yourself via modding  . And in any case, the recoil is simulated, so whether you like the ring crosshair or not, its the most realistic recoil you'll find out there next to shooting a real gun.

has anyone seen the 160mb video yet on ofp.info? I'm downloading it, but with a crappy 30 kb/s connection this could take a while...

    Armed Assault Video E3 Presentation

I agree with Uzi...every ghost recon game had excellent AI that ran away/took cover and hid under/behind stuff until you went by looking for it, or they would at least run to a corner or some form of cover and fire back. If such good AI could be created back in 2002 then im sure it can be done in 2006. IMO AI is the most important aspect of the game.

    Word on Russian/Soviet side?

that was an old build from long ago and BI may not have implemented the radio chatter correctly at the time. I doubt there will be russians on an island in the Atlantic, and by now i think that they changed the "Spetznatz" to something else.

    Clouds

Is it at all possible to make clouds that move and cast shadows on the terrain? I think this would be awesome because of the view from the sky and because it adds to the environment around the player. What do you guys think?

I don't think theyre crappy. At least a hell lot better than what we saw in december press release. The gear is realistic, and remember- not all American soldiers wear the same pattern camo. Some have outdated ones, some don't.

    Balance

"Balancing" the units of each side in game2 would be a bad idea. In OFP, the m16, AK47, AK74, PKM, and m60 did the same damage (i tried it out a couple of weeks ago vs bdrm and humvee). I hope that the weapons in Game2 do accurate amounts of damage and are not "balanced" to make the game more "fair" arcade-like. In addition to weapons, gear shouldn't not be balanced either, especially since the gear in game2 are "represented to insane levels" as said in the press release. For example, different types of helmets and body armor are supposed to provide different degrees of protection, not all the same (as in many games nowadays- its so depressing). Wear a normal steel helmet and get shot from a hundred meters away by a pistol and you're just about dead. Wear a kevlar helmet and get shot from the same distance with the same gun and you're knocked off your feet and bruised badly, but still alive..maybe from the angle of firing you're just bruised (Game 2 features medevacs i hope? i think i read that in an article somewhere). I'm glad that in OFP, most vehicles were not balanced, except for the humvee and bdrm. Arma looks great, and can't wait for game2. So there's a suggestion and example, and i hope its useless and BI team is already doing better things to game2.

    ArmA Progress Updates

hey does anybody remember when placebo said to remind him about a Q&A session after a few more web articles and magazine articles have been released? it was a thread a few months back..(its not in the ArmA forums anymore though, too old).

    Lost interest

exactly, where did you hear about anti terrorists? it's about an island and it is based on the korean situation. the north is evil and the south is democratic, and as the americans pull out, the north attacks and the southern militias and the remaining americans have to defend themselves. btw playing with commanches would be extremely unrealistic as the project for their research and development has been CANCELLED. go to the armed assault website, it seems you aren't informed as well as others...

in the picture with the two soldiers standing guard the yellow sign reads: This area is under construction. Do not send us bug reports until this poster is removed. and on the bottom its signed by "ADA" (one of the people working with BI team). i'm pretty sure thats what it says
