Are all campaign saves broken by the patch? Trying to load a save from version 1.02 and it hard crashes to the desktop from the loading screen. Have not tried anything else as I was stuck on one of the missions and wanted to see if the patch made a difference. No way I am playing through the campaign again if the patch has broken saves.

Can anyone confirm that any spoken dialog in the cutscenes is in English in the Metaboli download version? It says German and English but that doesn't clarify what language spoken dialog is in. Or maybe there is no spoken dialog and it is all text? Thanks

Logitech G5 2nd gen just picked up this week. Got sick of not being able to precisely aim, especially with iron sights. Always would jump way more than I wanted even with just a slight mouse movement. So I would shoot to the right or left of my target. Even with the G5 I have to kick it to highest resolution and I also brought the mouse sensitivity way down in the Arma settings. Now I can aim the way I wanted to and I like how it takes a little time to line up the sights (due to higher res moving cursor slower) sort of like taking careful aim in real life. For snap shots, CQB, etc I leave the Logitech on the middle resolution setting for faster response.

One more with an 8800 and major problems. 8800GTX, XP 32bit, 158.19 drivers with all settings normal or low. Get 3 FPS or less even with a test mission with one unit standing in an open field. Major graphical bugs even in the UI. Same settings work well with the 1.05+ beta. Removed it and went back to the previous beta.

That stress/anxiety feeling is what hooked me on OFP way back in 2001. Still don't get that same feeling in Arma but it gets better all the time. Once we have a few more patches and some high end mods like FDF, CoC Arty, etc... then it should be even better than OFP. I am looking forward to alternate time period mods as well like WW2, Vietnam, etc... as I had a blast playing those with OFP.

I've owned both a PVS-7 and a PVS-14 and you cannot believe how well they work until you try them. 3rd gen night vision is jaw dropping. If you have enough light there is very little or no "noise" on a 7 or 14 with a good tube. The noise will increase in darker areas or if you increase the gain manually (14's have a manual gain adjustment). I find the simulation in Arma to be reasonably close. I was playing a night mission and was surprised to see that Arma simulated the "gain up" of PVS-7's so when you were looking out and had moonlight/starlight the noise diminished but when you looked into a darker area the noise increased. The one thing with night vision that Arma has completely wrong is the ability to use iron sights/scopes while wearing night vision. Due to the bulk of the headgear/unit it is virtually impossible to use iron sights or scopes with real night vision. The PVS-14 can be weapon mounted so it will work with a NV compatible optic like the Aimpoint but then you would only have the night vision while actually aiming with the weapon. In the real world you use a high powered infrared laser like a PAQ-4C or PEQ-2 and point and shoot using the laser. Another thing with using night vision in the real world is they work much like binoculars and must be focused to the distance you want to see at. They can be set to infinity and everything past about 15feet will be in focus so you only really need to focus when doing something close up like reading a map etc... You focus by rotating the front element of the goggle/monocular. The way Arma simulates night vision, while not realistic, is probably the best compromise they could do. The option of having a working PAQ-4C/PEQ-2 would be nice though.

The controls are 1000% better in 1.05. Â Helicopters were totally worthless to me in 1.02. Â So frustrating that I had given up on ever using them. Â They are actually enjoyable again after 1.05.

The most realistic system I have seen is the one they are using for VBS2 military training. Huge triple 60"+ displays for a wrap around view and real weapons with a lasershot system. They even had a mock up of a Humvee with an M249 on the roof with one person driving and the other manning the gun. They also had an infantry system where each shooter had his own booth with a large screen. Used a small controller with their offhand to control movement. Pretty sweet system. Cost is so much you would have to be mega rich to afford it if they even sell to civilians. I think I have a photo somewhere with the Humvee setup and you can see that it is VBS2. That would be about as good as it gets until we have Holodecks.

Patch caused some fps drop for me. Had to drop settings to normal on most everything to keep frame rate at what it was with 1.02 (1280x1024). Other than that have had no problems so far. Love the grass actually working as cover, new ironsights and free float aiming, firing burst/auto while moving, and the helicopter controls are 1000 percent better. I can actually fly well enough with keyboard and mouse to make it enjoyable now. Only problem is the external view still seems to rotate with the camera as the axis point instead of the rotor. First person view seems to be correct. All in all it was a pretty major improvement in playability for me. Hopefully BIS sorts all the issues and we have another major patch by the time the US version ships.

Will be late tonight before I can try this. Â I hope someone can answer these questions. Does the patch work with the Morphicon download version? Is it confirmed that you can now change the language to English on the Moriphicon (German) version so the language hack is no longer needed? Thanks

Finally you can fire full/burst while moving. It was stupid when trying to use full auto to clear a room or in CQB and stand still like some idiot with a giant please shoot me sign on his chest. If you can do it in the real world then you need that capability in the game. Thank you BIS.

I wish they would put in the option to switch to the "classic" controls for at least the helicopters. The current controls are nearly unusable with a keyboard. I play many missions where flying is brief or you MAY have the opportunity to fly at some point in the mission. I don't want to have to switch over to a joystick just for a 2 or 3 minute flight in the middle of a mission. Trying to fly using just the keyboard is almost worthless with the new controls. So much so that I have given up on ever using helicopters in missions again until there is updated controls or the option to switch to classic.

I am hosting a MP game and no one is seeing the effects. Â Just a dirt simple test mission with two playable units and I've tried nearly all of the effects and get nothing in the multiplayer game. Â Same mission created in single player and I see the effects no problem. Update: Did more testing and the only effects I can get to work in multiplayer are the rain clouds, storm clouds and fog. The mist, snow, sandstorm, leaves, etc... are not working.
