  1. Good point. Gas masks full NBC suits would be mandatory for fighting in an area where there was a high risk of exposure to chemical agents. Not choosing correctly in your load out if you had such authority would simply mean that you become a casualty... in game terms, this would mean loading up a save from before the mission and choosing a gas mask. Trial and error gaming = no fun.

Gas masks are standard issue, and are supposed to be with the soldier in combat.

  2. SP can already be demonstrated in the the MP demo by playing the CO-OP with AI only anyway. wink_o.gif

You know that's not a substitute for the real thing.

We need a mission like "ambush" from the original OFP demo.

The quality of that particular mission is what drew a lot of people to OFP in the first place.

  3. Since there are many soldiers (and players who would like to represent themselves as such) who wear glasses, what do you guys think about seeing them in mods (if possible) or in a future version of Arma?

And let's not forget about sunglasses...

  4. VDV units, the "Blue Berets" are not only paratroopers, they're air-assault troops, they work constantly with helicopters. They are very much an elite unit, and often see deployment alongside regular Army units to fill holes or bolster morale or fighting ability.

The VDV was strictly airborne(it's part of the name after all); air assault was done by the DShB .

I don't think I've ever heard of the VDV deployed with regular army units, unless they were assigned to defend a convoy or something of that nature(which they would operate independently when doing).

  5. Jesus, why is everyone thrashing Sled88 so hard? Right now, most of you guys are sitting around criticizing, and not actually creating anything; something to keep in mind while you sit on your high horses.

The Conspiracies series was intended to be an immersive experience, pushing OFP to its graphical and emotional limits. I personally think he succeeded in that goal, especially since no one else has bothered bringing the STALKERS experience to OFP...

  6. I can only repeat it, these units are kicka$$ no doubt. Really can't wait to get my hands on them smile_o.gif

The list of changes is impressive. Are the areas in the desert fixed where water appears depending on time of day? This and the many objects in the cities are the only things I really dislike on Tonal.

    Great work ebud.

Yes, the disappearing swamps will be removed. The cities will not change sad_o.gif

Hey, the cities were really good when they first came out.

Then I'd like to show you the Russian's new underwater APS rifle.

    NEW?!

Been around since 1975 according to this source right here...

Edit: I hope that the ninja unit gets converted to ArmA since it has some cool features that won't be implemented by default for units. I think swimming isn't planned to be implemented in ArmA by default - I think it was asked once to a dev of ArmA and he stated that swimming wouldn't be implemented by default - don't remember where I read that, though... confused_o.gif

It was just a matter of speaking wink_o.gif

  8. Well that's the point. nener.gif

Well what I was on about is that all this IR beacons and lights only give you an advantage when the other side doesn't have IR sights. But seing there are IR lights on rather old russian equipment it would actually have the opposite effect and give your position away very easily. Because when you're into realism you'd have to give the US side more modern thermal sights that don't use IR lights to illuminate but rather capture natural heat signatures. That way the US side can use thermal sights to find those glowing IR searchlights without giving their own position away. While the IR for the northern forces would be a disadvantage rather than an advantage.

    EDIT:

Although I agree it would be great to have the feature in the game wink_o.gif

Well see the alternative is that the Northern forces wont have any night time ability at all. With IR they can least "do" night ops.

  9. can IR lights be used to target heat signatures from aircrafts?

It's not a targeting system, it's just a flashlight greatly shifted towards the red part of the spectrum so that shines in the infrared.

And since people can't see IR light it makes it useful for night time illumination.

    figure_2-12_440.gif

Here's a photo of an IR light taken through an IR sensitive camera; it's just like a flashlight except you can't see it through the naked eye.

    figure_2-13_440.gif

So it's basically like an invisible flashlight; animals aren't disturbed either, so it could be a good feature for Arma.

  10. Thank you for the great mod!

But I have a single question; have you ever considered replacing replacing the arms and heads? Just like those found in the latest orcs motorstrelki release- you could probably ask them and they'll give you the hand model, and you can always get the head from llauma.

    What do u think?
