Morphicon/Metaboli Invalid CD Key Issues
frostybits replied to aussieterry84's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I've heaped praise on BIS for years...well earned praise. Op flashpoint was amazing. I have a bog standard install and with this patch get nothing but ctd. Performance increases ....no. the time it gave to venture about was the same or worse. BIS you bit off more than you can chew.....too ambitious ...give it up. I'am going back to enjoy gaming that does'nt fu*^$k me round. -

Your waiting till Christmas to release the 1.05 patch. And it will be a performance increase of unparalleled scope. Thank you in advance.

OK first off I have been here off & on over the years to get help & support since OFP, the community here is the best bar none so a big hi & thanks. I would also like to point out from a person that was there in the early days of OFP Arma2 is its true successor. This is another master work by BIS quite breathtaking at times but a challenging, flawed, ambitious masterpiece like the first installment. They have always listened to the community & the patches will be regularly delivered, if I remember rightly I think they did not properly get on top of things until patch 1.08 in OFP. Right my system specs are core 2 quad 9550 2.83 gig stock no o/c nvidia gigabyte 275 gtx factory o/c to 660 core clock 4 gig ddr2 800 ram samsung 7200 rpm hard drive (game install) raptor 10000 rpm (page file) vista 64 bit This machine is my old machine with new vid card and cpu upgrade so I was able to quickly turn settings up and compare. After tweeking to improve performance it was not until I moved the page file to the raptor that things really improved for me.... advice I found here (thanks!). Before that things ran ok until I got in an urban environment then it struggled ....texture trashing ,thrashing whatever really bad. The page file move did it! Just moved it to a 10gig partion & let it be system managed (I would like to point out that after restarting to shift the page file to another equal or faster drive shut down, like fully shut down & then re-start to see how the new page file location helps you.) I removed tweeks like command lines for quad core etc and set nvidia settings back to default and it now runs like butter. These are my settings As I stated above nvidia settings default so vsyn =on. in game IR 1680x1050 3DR 1680x1050 Visibility 3269 TD High VM default AF high AA 5 TD High OD High SD High PE Disable This is my configuring story. I hope this helps someone out there so as to give back to those that have helped me on these forums.

Smooth game play & how I got there.
frostybits replied to frostybits's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just to add to my post I did strike caching problems once since the smooth play. Solved it instantly by setting video card memory to high playing a few seconds then going back to default setting, smoothness back to normal. Hope this helps -
Thank you BIS  Been playing revive lanning with a friend on teamspeak. Custom maps with the usual mods.... Chammys, vegetation, real artillery. Just brilliant thank you soooo much  Vista 64 8800gtx 4gig ram 6600 dual btw we are down under in New Zealand Â

HOW ABOUT BRINGING OUT A HOT FIX FOR THOSE OF US WITH VISTA 64 BIT AND 4 GIG OF RAM THAT CANT RUN THE GAME ANY MORE ON THE NEWER NVIDIA DRIVERS! Thanx
-
Has anyone tried these to see if vista 64 bit with 4 gig ram machines can run the game at all? Im not budging from 158.45 until these work! update : Just tried them and no go for above specs ....so a bug fuch u to nvidia ...wankers!!
-
If you were hoping nvidia would fix the arma non start issue they put in place with going to the 160 driver versions then you would be Those of us with vista 64 bit and 4 gig of ram its roll back to drivers 158.45 if you want to play arma.

Firstly appologies to bis as in my last post I had a hissy fit on installing 1.08. I get better proformance now dual 6600 - 8800gtx -4 gig ram -vista64, after tweeking...looks beautiful (sigh). The good so far is the added difficulty and sharper AI with ground troops both friendly and enemy making for more tension. I play alot of coop and your on far more of a state of alert making for realisim I guess. Flight models is improved but you just dont stay in the air long enough to enjoy it. We just can't get in a Helicopter miles away from enemy shilkas without being shot at, flying is just sooo hard its made us give up even bothering to do fly missions. It was too easy to fly, now its just impossible. To not be able to target a ground target as it brings you down 5 miles from its location is impossible. All in all I love the graphical improvements, little things are starting to add up to a more cohesive whole, just dont get too zelous with realisim in the air. Thank you BIS

Nah 1.08 leaves me cold ........ poor preformance for my rig..... bugs ......more bugs .....bugs.... BUGS!!!!!!I give in ....coded p.o.s. I am going back to OFP.

I will add there is a gamma problem with 107 beta and 8800gtx cards....darks are too dark and the colors are bled out. They solved the fog issue and openned up the gamma bug.....yey

Whats up with the gamma change?....ugh. Performance worse than 1.4 ...but at least it doesnt crash. 6600 core 2 gtx 8800 4gig ram vista 64 bit

Cameron and animal thanks for the insights, I too can rejoice in these new drivers. Im not going to move from 104 until 106 comes out but the video preformance is significant, gone from 1200 to 2500 (could go higher but dont see the point yet) in view distance and up to high on texture detail, it runs better than before. Hi ppl Long time lurker Registered today just so i could share my successfull performance tips from many setting changes. Firstly My specs are as follows Core2 e6600 asus p5b-e 8800 gtx (drivers beta 101.41) 4 gig of ram ddr800 vista home prem 64 bit I can not get this game stable on 105 or 105+ so am happy to play through on 104. I say happy because the demo before it and the 105 patch have instant memory performance issues, my experiance in 104 is zero memory issues with not a single crash. I have to turn my in game settings lower than I would like, but I expect this as bis and Ms are still getting their head around the new platform....it sill looks very nice. Audio Hardware:  audio  on eax :  off Video view distance: 1200 default 1280x1024 32bit Terrain: normal objects: normal texture: normal shading: normal Post effects: low Anisotropic: normal Shadows: low anti A : low Blood: high Once venturing into the Campaign however the bigger built up areas gave me slow down, I got some significant boost by setting my (nvidia control panel) /Manage 3d settings / configuration to the below. Anisotropic filtering: App controlled Anti A gamma cor: off Anti A mode : app controlled Anti A setting:app controlled Anti A trans :off Con texture clamp:Use Hardware Error rep: off Ext limit :off force mips: trilinear Multi disple gpu accel: single dis pro Texture filt anisotropic: off texture filt neg lod: allow texture filt: quality Texture filt tirlinear op: on Tread op: off triple buffering: off Vertical syn: force on Now the two things to really and I mean significantly inprove performance around buildings was ...triple buffering :off  ....vertical sync: force on Just my 2 cents for those struggling with vista and 8800 cards. Hope others have a smoother experience too.

I totally agree and stated so in my original post that I expected as much, however the puzzel for me is I just finished halflife2 in 64 bit mode which run beautifully and quake 4 1600x1200 all bells and whistles on. John Carmack warnned against vista with id games and problems, but the truth is they  run better! Im not thick and researched long and hard on the change over and compatability issues, I have to say I have much less problems than expected, except armed assault, it is much worse than expected but in 104 it lets me play so ill just be happy for that in the mean time. Goodluck BIS with your American Release.

Eric I cant make myself go down to performance from quality, its a stubborn issue I have with wanting a smooth experience and pretty scenery. As for should this have been posted in trouble shooting I really just ment it as a general shout out, but as ppl reply with their issues maybe your right.
