I wonder how hard it would be to combine this mod with TrueView. I love what that mod does to 1st person, and I love what this mod does to 3rd person. Augh, I'm so torn.

Alright, I figured out how to make the view like 0.4 [see the top of Page 6]. So here's a quick rundown on how to do it: 1. Download Kegetys' ArmA Tools here: http://www.kegetys.net/arma/ 2. Extract at least cpbo somewhere and run it once and click yes when prompted. 3. Go to the folder where you extracted NewView 0.6 to, open the dta folder there and right click the bin.pbo and click Extract. You can now either delete the bin.pbo or back it up somewhere. 4. There should now be a folder called bin there. Open that and find the file CfgVehicles.hpp. Right click it and choose Open With and then use WordPad to view it. 5. Press Ctrl-F to search for 'class Man : Land' without quotes, and scroll down a little to 'extCameraPosition' and change the values in the brackets to 0.25, 0.65, -1.0 6. Save the file and close. 7. Right click the bin folder and choose create PBO. You should have a new bin.pbo there now and can delete the bin folder there. And that should be it. It seems to be working for me, so far, but I take no responsibility if it doesn't work flawlessly for anyone else. At least this can hold me over until hedcrusha releases a real new version.

Whenever you have time, do you think you could release a 1.08 compatible version of your 0.3 mod? That was my favorite view.

The mod doesn't work with 1.06 as far as I know. I think there's a version for 1.05 and one for the 1.07 beta.

Explosions/Smoke + Fire effects
fohtee replied to beacon's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
3 words MAKE IT YOURSELF Alright, I took your advice [ nevermind that it was directed at someone else ] and I'm mucking around with the file I believe is the one for explosions, smoke and fire. ie firesmoke_ca.paa which is located in ca.pbo in the addons folder. The folder structure is: AddOns\ca\data\ParticleEffects\FireAndSmokeAnim\Data So I messed around with the texture in PhotoShop, but now I'm sort of stuck. All I want modified is this single file. Do I repack the ca.pbo with this file [i think I might have tried this and all my explosions disappeared], or, more likely, do I make it a mod of some sort? If I make it a mod, I make a folder in the ArmA folder called, say @EXP_MOD and then do I just pack the single file into a pbo with the folder structure intact? I'm sure this sounds pretty incoherent, so basically, what I'm trying to do is replace firesmoke_ca.paa. Help? -
Stripped down, OFP-like graphics, anyone?
fohtee replied to 5133p39's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Damn there's a lot of trolls here. What's so wrong with someone asking if there's ways to mod in lower graphical quality assets? I really don't see what offended folks like nephilim enough for them to post amazingly useless suggestions. Buying a new PC, playing OFP or throwing out one's ArmA disc are all idiotic replies to a question no one asked. Anyways, I too wish there was a way to get a little more performance out of the game with some modding. But it's unlikely to happen. I bet it would end up looking worse than OFP and run slower as well, unfortunately. Likely, the only performance gains I think we'll see will come from patches, I would think. Not that any of this really matter too much to me, since ArmA runs swimmingly on my computer. -
Why is it impossible to find this game in Canada?
fohtee replied to oblisk's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I bought mine last week in a small town EB in the BC interior, so you shouldn't have any problem finding it. Make sure you ask for ArmA, not Armed Assault. They couldn't find it otherwise. -
I know it's sort of been said already, but I'd like to confirm that there seems to be no difference in Saitek X52 compatibility. I still can't map any of the buttons I couldn't map before this beta patch.

Oh I will! Just watch me! I'll do it! I just hope not too much changes when the real 1.07 patch comes out. Also, I'm really digging this mod, the view change makes the game feel a lot tighter than the boring default 3rd person view.

I liked it better the way it was.
