  1. Currently in ofp, the damage model isn't the most realistic. It is based on a health bar. For example, it takes 3 LAWs to take out a t80, when in reality I don't think a law can even penetrate a t80. I would like to see weak points and armor penetration modelled in ofp2. I have blown up an m113 with a few grenades before, which is entirely unrealistic. Armor penetration and weak points should be modelled to prevent this, so it takes something more powerful than a few nades. We need to get rid of the health bar damage model. Same goes for planes-currently they are based on a health bar. It doesn't matter where you shoot them or with what you shoot them with. If you shoot at it for long enough, you could probably kill an a10 with an m16 on the ground (if you have lots of ammo that is). I would love to see things like fuel leaks and white smoke if you hit a fuel tank, disabled landing gear if you get a lucky shot, engines failing if you hit the engines with a powerful enough weapon, and things like control surface (ailerons, rudder) failures. Hell, it doesn't even have to show any visual damage, as long as it is modelled. Something else that bothers me is the fact that in order to kill something, it has to explode to smithereens. The way aircraft explode in mid air when they die is unrealistic and annoying (unless of course you ignite a fuel tank or something...). I would love to see maybe a pilot being forced to bail out because his control surfaces have been disabled. Bottom line: An improved damage model would be nice. Armor weakpoints and penetration values and disabling vehicle parts would be pretty cool.

    How can you say there weren't any good games this year? I think you people have a hard time enjoying games :P Personally, I had a lot of fun with HL2. Farcry is up there too -- I believe both were outstanding games and tons of fun to play. I vote for HL2 though, just because I thought it was tons of fun along with counterstrike: source (what I like about cs:source is not as many assholes playing the normal version) and deathmatch. Farcry had really nice open environments which I liked.

    OFP graphics...

    Those graphics are unreal I think the ofp engine has mediocre graphics, I mean it is nothing terrible. There are far worse games out there. However I wish CWC could be a bit more colorful. I mean go outside, look at the bright and lush green vegetation out there...nogova seems so depressing. I mean it is nothing compared to CS:S but ofp graphics are still alright. I don't think it is poor looking by any standards.

    Man, I wish I could help you guys...I know how to model in 02, but I don't think I want to commit anything due to the fact that I am very inexperienced and I am not sure if I could get the job done correctly to do all your other work justice . I can model a little bit if you guys need any help though.

    Hmmm. The first mission won't load after the intro cutscene. It just loads and when it is done the screen just stays black.

    I have found a bug. When you are using the AA launcher on the west side, it appears on your back as a normal AA launcher. However, when you use it it morphs to an m47 dragon launcher :P. Also, is the resistance supposed to be using the CSLA ak? Why not use the other ak47?

    Y2K3 - Updated Ofp Config.

    Hey, can anyone help me with some config stuff? I am trying to modify the FLASHFXUR config. I am trying to replace the east pilot with the ones included in the mi26 pack. I am unsure how to make it so some selections do not appear. One of the selections is the owp pilot with the helmet stuck to his hand for when he takes his helmet off, but what I want is just the pilot with his helmet on. I replaced mc_pilote2.p3d in the config with /OWP_crew/owp_pilot1 but he appears with a helmet in his hand while carrying an ak74 (it looks kinda funny) How do I fix this? What should I add in the config so his helmet isn't stuck to his hand?

    FlashFX replacement Units

    This mod is AWESOME!! I enjoy the fact you kept the 1985 "flavor" with the game. However, I have 5 gripes: -no BAS blackhawks or chinooks-why? -the west should have an m16a2, not an m16a4 :P -Something I noticed on the y2k3 mod that isn't in here is the distance ai can see. You need to make them see further away like in y2k3 I put two groups east and west close to each other and they wouldn't fire at each other. -Some of the resistance tank crews are russian. -ofpec blood? Can we get this enabled? I noticed it is in the addons but not ingame. Otherwise, this mod is awesome

  17. I just completely nuked my ofp directory (just deleted about 4gb worth of ofp-ness) and completely reinstalled everything. Just re-downloaded the flashfx mod too, and now it works fine. Must have been a corrupted file as sanctuary suggested.

    Yes, resistance is a little bit better, but if you really want to jack up the graphics so the game actually looks pretty good, download the flashfx unit conversion, Y2K3, or E-ECP mods...do a search for em around here.   19. What happens? Do you get an error message? Does you hard drive's activity light remain on? How many MBs of addons do you have? Are you using mod folders? Have you tried the -nomap switch on your OFP desktop shortcut's target line? 1/2. No. What happens is in the case of the llaumax sky it gets stuck at the loading screen. There are no error messeges, it just gets stuck. No. Quite a few, at least a couple hundred. I use mod folders and the nomap command.

    Cool AA Movie

    Great movie! Was well directed I love AA All of it was taken in multiplayer, I know this because I don't think americas army allows scripting, and even if it did it would be a helluva lot easier just to do it in mp. Really makes me wish ofp had some of the ragdoll and top-notch animations from that game But great movie, AA can be pretty fun when it is organized.

    CQC techniques

    IMO, this is what needs to be done to improve cqb: -AI. This is first and foremost. AI has no recognition of tactical movement between and inside buildings. -Collision detection. Going through walls, falling through floors..collision detection doesn't feel "solid." If you hit a wall, you kinda bounce a little...it feels awkward. -movement. Some may have noticed, say, that it takes a second to stop running, turn around...for example, if I am sprinting through a hallway, there is a slight delay to stop and turn left. Movement should become more fluent by being able to strafe without having to stop. This is kinda hard to explain, go out there in the game and try it. The way your character moves and fluency needs to be improved.- -aim. This kinda ties to movement, but when you press f and start walking, even though you are walking slowly your crosshairs are bouncing all over the place. -Interactivity-this means easy-to-open doors (action menu gets tedious in an indoor environemnt when there are 5 enemies chasing you :P) Also, more things along the lines of the dynamic interactive buildings-would love to see windows exploding, doors breaking down among other things. -larger environments. Even though if you measure them some buildings can have fairly large interiors, for some reason spaces in ofp tend to feel cramped. This may be a problem with field of view or something, but has anyone else noticed that kinda cumbersome and "cramped" feeling when moving through a building in ofp? This needs to be improved. I think these items could substantiall improve cqb.

    looks good I always thought suchey's desert looked too grayish and the woodland looked to dark. Though it may not fit in with an ofp desert environemnt entirely, it looks pretty good now IMO

    Looks great As long as there are some effects and weapon replacement configs included with this addon I will be completely happy I am especially looking forward to the ai improvements. i can't wait for supressing fire
