    Sound engine

Distant sound just needs a bit more reverb or reduced treble as higher frequencies tend to fade faster. I may be alone in this but I think the bullet crack is too loud and makes it very diffcult to hear where it came from. I know its realistic but just a bit too over powering.

    5.1 surround in ArmA?

UPDATE: A follow up to the previous post (page3) I just installed the Creative X-Fi Gamer. NOW the 5.1 works!!! So obviously you need an actual soundcard not just onboard sound to use 5.1 As for the Medusa headphones, yep they work well and produce slightly more "space" than using stereo headphones in 3D mode. Sorry, duno how else to describe it. One annoying thing is that the front speakers have more reverb than the rear which to me is the wrong way around and there is no way to alter it. Anyway, I can get my head IN ARMA now and its so much better. So if you are using onboard sound... GET A SOUNDCARD!!!

    5.1 surround in ArmA?

I guess it doesn't work for me because of the crappy onboard sound (ie software) Cant wait to get my X-Fi gamer Infam0us: So the Medusa's are worth using with the X-Fi? Are they really better than the processed 3d and stereo headphones?
  4. The most common theme here is impoved AI and I'll add my vote to that. I'll also add my vote to walking while reloading and general smoothing of animation transitions. PLEASE try to allow reloading animations to be interupted. Â This is THE MOST ANNOYING cause of death and a major break to feeling immersion and reality. As for better campaign.., thats not really gameplay related but just mission editing and there are alot of people out there who can create very good missions. Â I'd rather see BIS spend their precious time working on the game itself... I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I'd like ragdoll type deaths. Â NOT the type where people go flying when hit but just crumpling. Â People caught in big explosions should disappear [with optional gorefx?](this would solve the stupid flying Ragdolls and will reduce dead body cpu/gpu loads) Minor explosions eg. grenades should throw a person back but only a few feet. Anyway, keep up the good work BIS... Â Â

    5.1 surround in ArmA?

I have just tried the Medusa 5.1 HOME system (with separate jacks not USB) Â I read that USB headphones are not recommended because its quite possible to blow the USB power circuits if they draw too much current. Â [Don't flame me if you have some and they work fine. Â I just read that in a review and a separate post in a forum where this happened to someone.] I also chose the "Home" version because its possible to use with my DTS DVD cinema system. I'm using onboard sound (Realtek HD) and the 5.1 audio demo works well in the sound card software but 5.1 does NOT work in ARMA! I have just ordered the X-Fi gamer so we'll see if thats better. As mentioned in previous posts the X-Fi can simulate 3d sound with standard stereo headphones so I will soon be able to compare this effect and real 5.1 heaphones. Stay tuned...

    Ka-50 missiles

One of the things I find annoying about the Kamov is the guided missiles (vikhrs) weave about too much and quite often miss the target. This isn't a problem for the AH-1 (Hellfires) as they always fly straight.

    ARMA DISSAPOINTMENT

I don't understand what you mean with braking... Helo Braking with nose pitch up worked well in OFP. It even had the increased lift effect unless you reduced collective(power) In a real helo the tail rotor effectiveness IS REDUCED as speed increases and flight becomes similar to fixed wing aircraft. What worries me from the vids I've seen is that the helos are too fast in their yaw reaction (horizontal rotation) ie. they change direction too fast. This gives the impression of no mass or momentum and acts like a model helo.

    Vegetation concealment

Well, there are two types of bushes in OFP. The ones that are obstacles that you cannot go through. These will conceal you. The other type that you can run through are not computed by the AI and they will "see" you through them.

    Vegetation concealment

I know this is something that is very hard to control but will AI bots be able to see through bushes like in OFP? Would be great if you could conceal yourself behind or in a bush and only be detected from a certain distance or if you move too much. Of course once you fire you would be known to all Any info on how enemy detection will work in AA compared to OFP? I just want to add my encouragement to the team at BIS. Â I am soooooo looking forward to AA OFP is still the only game that feels like its in a real world of its own rather than a playable area as in other games. Cheers
