It's like I'm looking into a mirror: I wonder if my laundry is done yet?

One that doesn't want to be shot in the back - think of it as an IFF panel. And the prey is colour blind You should've see what I was wearing! (I strongly dislike the idea of being shot)

Mikko, I like the photos of Lapland, I would like to visit there some day - especially in the winter. Â Is there such a thing as too much snow? Here are a few photos from this weekend, I was an embed photographer with a sniper/spotter team... The hunter didn't have doe tags, so the two whitetails in the center of photo #4 were just a nice sight to see.

Vancouver is great - Hellfish6, you can't go wrong if you manage to find work. Â You could be a playtester for EA? Â I saw their new building for the first time yesterday, when I went downtown for dinner. Â It's decent, waterfront location isn't too bad. Hey - by hard stuff from Asia, you mean hardware like motherboards and video cards and stuff? Â Because you can't beat the prices of those Asian outlets like Atic and Anitec. Â

True, but this is a small lake that is affected by *ocean* tides it surges up the Fraser River, which backs up the Pitt River, and the lake fluctuates by up to 150cm. Most of the lake is filled up with sediment... lots of mud banks. We actually grounded the canoe in the middle of the lake and had to get out and walk... 500m from shore. I wish someone on shore could have taken a picture of us. I like the cat photo... looks like he's locked on to a target. @Tovarish, reminds me of home! The good old Canadian Shield...

Here's some favourites, from two different trips up to an area near Whistler, BC:

We had 'svenskarnas kraftskiva' at our house in August. My roommate knows these swedish girls who organized the party, and they bought the crayfish from IKEA... everybody sang a crazy song called Lambo and drank aquavit.

Don't bother reading my post or anything, or looking at the picture that I spent the time to link to support my case... just go ahead and be completely certain that you are right.

The Army uses the M16 A2 (ONLY) and the M4. M16 A3 is not used by the US Armed forces (IIRC) M16 A4 is used exclusively by the USMC. And the M4 A1 is used by USSOCOM and its affiliates. Army were the first that I saw in Kuwait with M16A4. Â This was right about when I made my M16A4 for Suchey, and we had people, incl BTDT Marines telling me that it doesn't exist.... I was able to prove it did exist, and then I waited patiently until they finally started showing up with Marines in Iraq. Check militaryphotos.net / iraqi freedom gallery / buildup forces in kuwait / us forces / #17 of 82. Â Link probably wont work: http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos....t17.jpg These are the first pics I saw of M16A4's in combat. Â It was quite a while before I saw Marines in Iraq with A4's. And to throw another little bit of info in here, some section of the AF still uses a variant of the CAR-15. I think it's the guys who protect airfields.

P.S. I'm a little disturbed by the fact that you are using my face as your avatar pic

#1. Â Snipers. Â If somebody were to pick up where Suchey left off on the USMC sniper, then I'd also consider sending this model to somebody with some experience with texturing. Â As someone mentioned, the model is easy enough, the textures are more difficult since there are no great M40A3 pics out there. Â This is a bit low poly, it was one of the first models I made for the pack, but it matches the M16 in detail level. Scope could be rebuilt with more sides. #2. Â JAM HD on Western weapons. Â This was overlooked. Â There is a seperate config for JAM mags for all weapons, but we forgot to allow HD mags for West weapons. Â Add this to the list of bugs that will probably never be fixed. Â #3. Â Optics. Â Somebody called AG was working on something called JAM Optics, which sounded like a good idea. Â It would provide a central resource for optic images for addonmakers. Â I've had a few people ask to include my optics in their addons and this would be the preferred way. Â It would also include other good optics (mildots etc). Â Not sure if this it still ongoing. Â If somebody knows him, maybe check if he is still interested. Â He wanted a few source textures from me and I was too busy to send them at that time.

EGM/ZD will also be donating to an MVD veteran's fund, since the soldiers wronged in the photo were Russian Interior Ministry (MVD). It's also worth noting that the Editor in Chief of EGM joined the forum where this all began to explain himself and answer questions, instead of hiding behind form-letter apologies.

For the sake of discussion and education (not trying to start an argument) I thought the USMC upgrade to the UH-1 will use the AH1Z four-blade rotor. Â It's quite different from the 412 rotor, as it is 'bearingless' however that works. Â I think it means that pitch control of the blades not a connection that rotates on bearings, but is instead some kind of flexible straps inside those fat cases on the blades. UH1N: http://www.ndu.edu/nwc....and.jpg I don't have info on other differences, I just had the impression that the UH1Y is something beyond the Bell 412. But to remain OT, I've been doing a bit of beta testing on the Griffon, and it rocks. Â I really like the gunner position too, feels like you have more movement and visibility than other helo gunning positions.

EGM said that they didn't know the original context of the photo. Â This can't be true if you look at the Getty website where the image was purchased from. They could have been honest and said that using this image in such a way was very disprespectful and immoral. Â ZD just added fuel to the fire. (Thanks for fixing the photo for <100kb placebo)
-
No, I think they purchased it from Getty Images.

The guy who noticed this and brought it to our attention is Roman Stepanov (credited for work on Ghost Recon as the Russian Authenticity Advisor) and he has tons of contacts in the MVD and Russian military. He's contacting everybody he knows in Russia's armed forces, included the guys depicted in the photos, and the families of the fallen soldiers whose faces were covered up.

I don't think its terribly smart move of Ziff David to threaten the guy who originally posted the disrespectful image. Â Just apologize and let it go...

I doubt if you can find me enough combat photos of a drum mag on an RPK74 to add up to even 10% of the photos I have with 45rnd mags. Â They simply aren't used--I don't think I've ever seen any. I can only recall one photo of a 5.45x39mm drum being used in a real combat situation, on an AK74 and they didn't look like a regular unit. Â I think there must be reliability problems with it. The RPD uses linked ammo belts, the drum was just a container, no feed mechanism. The RPK (7.62x39mm) was seen often enough with a 75 rnd drum. As mentioned, the RPK74 gunner can also carry RPG's, and being able to carry so many HE rockets gives this guy some very effective firepower.

IMO that's a Bad Thing ™, because every squad needs an MG for supportive fire. Why do you think real life militaries use LMGs? (Not aimed at you, Hellfish. ) @R71: LESS recoil than the SAW? How is that possible? I'm playing OFP on FDF mod with increased recoil and I can fire it like an assault rifle on full auto while standing up. Sure, I've heard that the real FN Minimi has very little recoil, but really... It's a super weapon, I hope the recoil is increased a bit. I dont know if you would really call it more kick, but the m249 has a strange way to fire in this pack. Lets see if I can show you what I mean...                  hit      M249=                  hit      RPK=          hit If you fire 50 shots with the M249 25 will land high and 25 will land low. With the RPK all of the shots will land in one spot. Recoil is probably something that would be worth looking at again. The SAW does do that pattern, and the reason is in the timing of the recoil vs. rate of fire (the gun seems to settle and then the muzzle climbs in a 2-round cycle... a slight adjustment of the recoil values might smooth it out). I've barely even talked to Suchey since the pack was released, I think for the time being we are all quite happy to have this off our minds.

I sorta left it hanging as a beta. What makes you think it's currently in use? I only know that 6 were made and then the project was canned. No SR74 ever existed to my knowledge.
