    HEELPP!!!

Sometimes antivirus apps do work against spyware, sometimes they don't. If it's a problem with an unwanted browser plugin, you might try this.

    OFP locks up

I haven't heard anything about that, put I have used ZA in the past, and IMO it sucks. Its the whole "I know better than you do" attitude of it, like when it shuts off your internet connection because it thinks your being attacked. I really like Agnitum Outpost(though I've heard many good things about Sygate and it was pretty good when I tried it, other than the fact that it had a habit of killing my network connection, even when it showed it wasn't blocking anything).

    Y2K3 Vs EECP

I use and really like Y2K3. The effects are nice, it replaces a lot of the standard BIS stuff and just does an all around good job.

    Tank foxholes

The problem with putting a trench in when they make the island is, what if you don't want a trench. A trench just out in the middle of no where would be kind of awkward.

    About stolen textures :)

There already was a topic about this(well, orginally just about the addon, then about the apparent theft) and it got locked.

    Spetznaz MVD

Has/can anyone read the readme(its in Russian/Cyrillic)? If nobody has, then we really don't know that the authors weren't given credit. I think it would be wise not to jump to conclusions until the people who released this can atleast make some sort of a statement. It certainly sounds like there are some questionable things with this addon, however we should atleast give them a chance to tell their side of the story.

    Y2K3 - Updated Ofp Config.

I can't get it to work with FDF. I don't think that's really a problem with Y2k3 though. I think I remember reading some stuff, that FDF kind of purposely made it impossible/very difficult to use any other effects mod with it(GMR, ECP, etc).
  8. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">chopper setpos[(getpos chopper select 0),(getpos chopper select 1), x] where chopper is the name of the helicopter, and x is the height in meters above the ground/water(you'll have to play with it a little, maybe try somewhere around 10).
  9. I think if HYK would have really had a problem with people using his work then he: A) Would have stated "no one can modify this" in his readme B) Would reply to emails/etc or would give another method of contact or C) Would have spoken up when Combat! released their modified stuff of his. If he comes back later, and says he has a problems with it, then fine, take the addons down, and remove his work from them, but there's no reason why people should be held back because somebody doesn't reply to emails. Honestly, not replying to emails in 2 months is kind of rude. There's no reason to reinvent to wheel and create the same thing over again. Have you contacted Battle Over Hokkaido to see if they know anything? If you've done that and they don't know anything more, then just do it. If he cares, then he can email you about it. You were polite enough to take the effort to contact him about it, its not your fault that he hasn't taken the effort respond. If he comes back later and is angry about it, the only person he can be mad at is himself for not providing any valid way to be contacted.

    Markers and addaction..

To make a unit go to a marker, try something along the lines of: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">unit setpos[(getMarkerPos "marker" select 0),(getMarkerPos "marker" select 1), (getMarkerPos "marker" select 2)] Where the guy is named unit and the marker is named marker. To display then variable, try <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">hint format["%1",VariableName]
  13. Personally, if someone does not reply to emails/pms/etc, and/or makes it impossible to contact them, I would take it as a "I don't really care". Why? Because I think its certainly reasonable to to expect someone to make some method of communication available(exceptions would be like if someone was in the military and was being deployed, etc). And if they don't provide some way of contacting them, then I think it would be safe to assume that they aren't concerned or interested in what happens to their addons.

    Ask a mod

Is there any reason why PNG's aren't accepted as avatars? If not, would one of the mods mind adding it? Thx.

    Operation L****k removed

I really think that our copyright/patent/trademark/etc laws are really archaic, and serve no purpose. The copyright and patent laws actually hurt innovation(atleast as far as software goes) rather than encourage it. Europe is probably just as bad or worse, especially with some of the patent laws regarding software that are being made over there. Hopefully they will just change the name of it slightly, and put it back up. Though, atleast Micro$oft feels they have a divine right to anything that sounds similar to, or rhymes with any of their products. And PS: I really doubt that someone hearing a song in a mission is going to make them less likely to purchase that song. In fact, I would bet the opposite is true(that someone would be more likely to buy the song once they've heard it). Oh well, enough of my OT rants.

    F-117 Stealth Fighter

I believe two were released around half a year ago. They were OK, but not wonderful(no offense to anyone involved, I can hardly make a little square box in O2 ) but someone was working on a really nice version, and showed some screenshots some time ago. Don't know what's become of it, nor do I remember who it was. edit: ok, those 2 were released a year and a half ago. My how time flies. http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=1868 http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=1871 And this must have been the one that some screenies were shown of. Looks like his website hasn't been updated in several months(either 5 months or 3 months, depending on which format the date is in). You might want to try PMing him http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=5130

    IE saving pictures as *.bmp

I can drag links to open in new tabs with Firefox too. With Firefox you won't have to worry about updating it every 2 hours because of a new security vulnerability found. There has been only one major vulnerability found in Firefox as far as I can remember, and that was fixed very quickly, and it was more of a Windows thing if I recall correctly(IE is succeptible to it as well). Here is a page listing some advantages of using Firefox: http://www.flexbeta.net/main/articles.php?action=show&id=32 (it is for an older version of Firefox, so it's really improved since then). Someone said that IE from Windows XP SP2 is a lot better. Well, no offense to M$ but they've had long enough. The first release version of IE(1.0) was realeased over 9 years ago. The first release version of Mozilla(1.0, and that's Mozilla Suite, not Firefox) was released only two years ago and is still in almost all ways much better than IE. You shouldn't just settle with a browser that "works ok..." or that "isn't totally broken". You should use a browser that makes you say "holy shit, this is awesome". That browser, is Mozilla Firefox.

    IE saving pictures as *.bmp

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub....9.2.exe Firefox is a fast standards compliant browser(unlike IE, and browsers based off it such as MyIE and AvantBrowser). It supports tabbed browsing, as well as themes. There are also many plugins available for Firefox(some of the ones I use are Chatzilla, an IRC client, GoogleBar, an unnofficial clone of the Google toolbar, Web Developer, which makes it easier to test web pages, and QuickNote, which you can jot down notes in). Firefox is free(in all senses), open source, and works on many platforms, such as Linux, Windows and Macs. Since its open source you know there is no spyware or anything, since you can download the source code to Firefox. You should also check out Thunderbird, which is an email(POP3/IMAP/SMTP) client designed to go with Firefox. T-bird d/l: http://www.mozilla.org/product....7.2.exe PS: And no I don't have anything to gain by getting you to use Mozilla/Mozilla Firefox.

    IE saving pictures as *.bmp

For the first one try this: Go into Explorer(not IE, just Windows Explorer). Go to Tools->Folder Options->File Types Go to the file types that you are having issues with. Click the Advanced button, and check Confirm Open After Download. I'm surprised that most people still use IE, especially with the god-knows-how many vulnerabilities. Just try Mozilla Suite or Firefox. You won't be going back to IE. PS: placebo, with tabbed browsing you could be simutaneously banning loads people without clogging up your task bar!

    Flashpoint 2 10-22-04 ??

I would highly doubt if it's coming out in October. First of all we haven't even seen any screenshots of it yet, nor do we know for sure what the era/campaign will be. And second of all, late last year they (BIS) said that it would not be coming out in 2004.

Polish security force arrested in Sweden

If the police/government of country B refuse/can't do anything about it, and if it's a serious enough crime, then I don't really see what's wrong with it(from a moral standpoint, not legal).

    OFP at Linux

I haven't tried myself, but I remember reading here that someone said they had had success with WineX, unfortunately WineX is commercial. edit: searched and found the thread: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....l=winex
  25. Milkman: I don't think you need to add dxdll to the mod thing. Atleast I didn't have to. Very good job Kegety's. FPS hit on my system(I've not tried any real big missions yet, though) on Nogova, was not noticeable. I have a 9800 120mb, 1 GB DDR, P4 2.4.
