    having funded and maintained a dedicated server now for some time i thought i might comment on the LOG output and post my wish list. 1. a command line option to include players IP along with game ID when they join. 2. notification that the logged on admin used the password - as shown when in the game screen. 3. a command line option to have the log saved to disk. That's it

    Suma did say "a fix is in the works" But I suggest all Linus DS admins follow Tracer_SS lead and lock your servers or you will never get a game off the ground.

    I’ve done some further testing on the Linux 1.90 DS connection issue and found the following happens with different “Squad URL:†settings: Squad URL: = EMPTY – Connection OK Squad URL: = http://www.yoursquad.com/squadpage.xml - server stops responding Squad URL: = www.yoursquad.com/squadpage.xml - server stops responding Squad URL: = qwertyuiop (or any other nonsense text) – all server processes end and you get a “Segmentation fault†Hope this help with the beta program BIS Do you get these same errors?     We don't have an answer yet Shrike , but I expect BIS are aware of the problem so a fix should be on the way.

    yes, xml reference in player settings causes my server to halt for at least 10 minutes. I have tried the 1.90 on Mandrake 9.0 and Debian 3.0 distros and get same results. We need a fix or a config setting to prevent the processing of player xml info. BIS?

I don't care how good you think your pc is pal, that would cause all sorts of lag problems. The default view distance for all maps is about 900 meters. So, if you dropped me from a range of two miles I WOULD call you a CHEAT. I don't believe that is at all possible. If you did it with an AK at 800m I would praise your marksmanship. I too have a s**t hot games pc, but I can't be bothered to tell everyone the spec. Not that ppl really care. Have a nice day.

    Checksum on missions

    Not sure if this is the right place, but here goes. Me and my fellow squad members like to play MP CTF and DM matches against other teams in ladders. In the past we have noticed slight differences in weapon layout and vehicle ammo when using the same (or so we think) map. Would it be possible, in a future release/upgrade, to include a mission checksum result on the side selection screen of the mission? This would prevent cheats making counterfeit copy missions with goodies on the map that only they know about.

    Anyone know how to disable all voice comms (sending via CAPS & receiving). Now that I have enabled this option via preferences I can't find a way to turn it off. Or do I reinstall OFP and never hit the "Voice Setup" button again Â

    No. Still set to 0 Going to do some more testing later? BIS, will you ever drop the "Voice Over Net" feature completely in the future - with the number of good 3rd party Voice Comms programs about and the lack of bandwidth for players does OFP really need it?

    HUM, still got a problem My mic transmit now works great - OFP and RW don't conflict anymore. But I still hear other people using Voice Over Net. Can this be prevented on my system? Thanks

    Thanks Avon, should have know your FAQ would have the answer. While testing this I found that on my system I had to run the OFP preferences program and let it not detect my mic as well as add VoiceOverNet=0; to the flashpoint.cfg Any way, this has got my Roger Wilco working again - many thanks

    Repeating messages when someone dies

    Dissable Auto Report option, sounded like it was going to work but it didn't. Just played 2 MP maps (1 original and 1 custom) both with Auto Report off. Â It took longer for the repeat message to come but it still did. While testing we had an idea to change the respawn value on the custom map from group (respawn=5) to none (respawn=0). Tried the custom map again and yipee, no repeat message. Suma, can we expect a patch for this soon. Â Most MP maps have respawn into seagull (default option) and this allows the bug to happen.

    1.42 doesn't fix repeating messages

    How to reproduce the dreaded “OH NO x IS DOWN†Testing Environment Host (eScopic) Windows 2000 Pro OFP 1.42 Client (British Bulldog) Windows 98SE OFP 1.42 Game 1_6_C_LostSquad (Lost Squad 1-6 C) British Bulldog – Alpha Yellow:1 EScopic – Alpha Yellow:2 AI – Alpha Yellow:3 AI – Alpha Yellow:4 Game starts and eScopic grabs a LAW and runs off (like Rambo) to face the oncoming enemy. British Bulldog does the right thing and stays under cover. Naturally, eScopic bites the dust and turns into a seagull. Bully is unaware that I am toast so requests “ALL REPORT STATUSâ€. AI 2 then reports “DAMN 3 IS DOWNâ€, “DAMN 3 IS DOWNâ€, “3 IS DOWNâ€, “3 IS DOWNâ€. Feeling left out AI 4 picks up the thread and reports 3 as down over and over. Finally, British Bulldog joins in the fun and the all have a “OH NO 3 IS DOWN†party. Check link for a heavily compressed JPG - http://www.dvsquad.com/public/oh_no_3_is_down.jpg This bug will reproduce itself if COOP is played on any map that has respawn as a seagull. Does not seem occur if AI die or player does not respawn (zooms in and out on his dead body). I would like to apologise to anyone that was offended by my first (deleted) post on this subject. I came rushing into the forum with the sound “OH NO 3 IS DOWN†still ringing in my ears. I did not think my post was that bad, but you guys are the moderators and I am not going to argue.     Yep, had this as well with 1.4 on XP, install 1.42 if u don't mind listening to "OH NO x IS DOWN" You guessed it, they aint fixed it!
