problem solved  it may not work for all, but i backed all data i needed and reinstalled xp, updated all drivers. reinstalled arma, and bingo   i must say i was a bit worried about closing the game and launching it again and getting an error when launching but seems to be working fine, all i can say is there must have been some program on my drive that was causing it to crash.... if thanks to all for there advice in trying to help me sort this problem out in the first place.  hope im not back here too soon Â

well... im back and i wish i wasn't, as i want to be playing this game. but hey.... anyway those nice people at Play replaced my copy of arma. first off i removed any trace of arma any save files and profiles, used your uninstaller to remove any reg keys. installed new disc and as the game is loading it gets to the fourth splash screen, crashes to desktop and i got this message. Warning: perNLOD format in object ca\buildings\molo_drevo_bs.p3d i have ran my virus scanner and it found nothing. do you think its time to bring out the XP disc?? or is there any thing else i can try? any help is much appreciated.

cheers i will give it a go, and hope for the best. i spoke to 505games tech support and they said the same thing sounds like a corrupt disc and now im wishing i didnt buy it from play.com coz im sure they are based in Jersey, not so easy to just pop over!!! so dont i think i will be playing till after the easter break now or when ever a copy arrives.. but i'm determined to get into this game. guess its a bit of running and gunning in COD2 for a few days   should pass some time. thanks for your info Jack anyway. tried the patch v1.5 with no joy. so i uninstalled and re-installed using a desktop install.  i launched with a selective start-up through msconifg  so nothing else can be interfering, then when i goto launch i get this error message. Data file too short 'addons\buildings.pbo'.  Â
