I've tried the search function with no luck: 1. Is there a RACS M2 machine gun (manned) available as a mod? I checked the editor and I dont think RACS have it. 2. Where do i paste scripts after i've downloaded them? E.g. objects placer. 3. Is there a closed bar gate in Arma. Im using a couple of editor updates but i cant find a bar gate that is closed. Do you know what its called? 4. Have you ever seen some kind of SAM addon? The vulcan and stingers are a bit unsophisticated in my eyes. 5. Is there a C130 hercules addon? I cant seem to find one. 6. Is there a dock/platform object in the editor? I need something that looks like a pier for PBR's and such. (Yes i know theyre not PBR's in ArmA.) Any help would be great.

New to Armed Assault editing ?
derfalpha replied to Balschoiw's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Suppose I download a script. Where do i install it? -
When i want to make a loing fence consisting of many linked fences, its often a pain in butt because I need to link, preview, check, adjust, check, copy&paste, link, preview, adjust, check.... repeat, repeat.... Is there a quicker way?

1. Is there some kind of trigger for activating the lights of Stoplights, if they do infact even activate? 2. Is there a way to set a particular weapon to a soldier other than by assigning him as a Rifleman/AT/Machine Gunner etc...? 3. Any way yet of getting men to sit in chairs/ on floor? 4. Any way of triggering a soldier to salute? 5. Is it possible to move objects during some kind of in-game mode, rather than moving them a little in the map editor, then previewing? 6. Is there a way to remove objects that are preset into the islands? E.g. Road signs?

At ease, off duty, manipulation, guns
derfalpha posted a topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
#1: I don't believe there's an option in ArmA to have soldiers stand with their weapons more at ease (e.g. Slinged, holstered, etc). Is this true? If so, is there any progress being made? If not, what's the closest we can come to this? #2: How do I place a soldier on the map without a weapon? I have seen this somewhere (aside from Captives) and would like to dot a few around in order to give that "off-duty" look. #3: Is there a way that I can determine the placement of an object other than specifying the 2D direction? Ie, is there a way to place objects in 3D? (elevated, rotated, facing) #4: Is there a way to put simply a weapon on the floor and manipulate its placement? -

I tried: object setVectorUp [10000, 10000, 10000] on a radio's Initialization and it doesn't do anything. Am i doing something wrong? -
6thSense.eu's EditorUpdate Released!
derfalpha replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
They did a great job for OFP: http://www.mapfact.net/include....4f2af47 Oh right. So nothing of the sort is out yet for ArmA. -

This is good, but the "objects" themselves are still lacking. Is there an objects pack for ArmA with additional objects? Like new fences, control towers, etc...? -
My insatiable thirst for creating lively airbases is futile without a massive selection of objects. Is there a pack out yet for ArmA?

Is it me? Or does the campaign generally feel tacky? a) The fictional politics are obsurd. How can such a microscopic island afford all that hardware without being part of a greater realm? Why would they even be stupid enough to attack US forces? There is also no sense of territory with regards to the campaign. b) Every mission is far from military simulation because you always end up with 30+ kills when you debrief, which should be worthy of a Medal of Honor. I don't mind the odd heroic mission with bogus objectives, but I want the majority of them to make me feel like it's a hard war, not a turkey shoot. Bah, i'm just waiting for some mods to roll in, especially an Objects Addon pack so I can play around building my fantasy airbase.

It would make searching SP/MP missions easier.

The next step in gaming should not be graphics...
derfalpha replied to horrgakx's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I agree with the idea of concentrating not primarily on graphics technology, but the artistic pursuit instead. Unfortunately the video games industry is just that, an industry. Driven by sales and how better to sell something than to make it look very very attractive. The funny thing is that there seems to be some trend regarding widespread reduction in profitability within big games, as I read in a BBC article some time ago. Unless games developers adapt to the changes required (smaller projects, more artistic innovation) the downward spiral will continue and there will be a dramatic fall in the PC video game industry. I sincerely hope that the industry falls and reforms itself in a revolutionary way because there is far too much crap out there. -
There is a sniper mission in ArmA My complaint is why-oh-why does the sniper operate alone?! All throughout that mission I was saying to myself, "Wouldn't it be nice right now if I had a support gunner, or spotter?!". I'm not a big military buff, but aren't almost all snipers coupled with another person to make a sniper team? Unless for some reason this sniper was Delta/SAS.

a) The campaign is short, buggy, and of poor conceptual quality. b) The multiplayer doesn't work. c) The only thing that works, is the editor.

Very good mission. Good build up. My team minus one got massacred getting into the village, but as soon as I got in, i tore the place up. Really fun.

Have you played OFP?
-
1. An AI helicopter pilot crashed when I was gunner. 2. Controlling helicopters hard in ArmA. What was wrong with the way they were controlled in OFP?!?!?!? 3. I tell a helicopter pilot to "move to" somewhere on the map and he flies straight over it and continues going. 4. Right clicking does not lock onto targets when im a helicopter gunner. 5. Telling the helicopter gunner to engage at will does nothing.
-
One of annoying things I found in OFP was the sounds of gunfire and vehicles. A gunshot sounded like it came from 10 metres away, when infact the soldier was 300 metres away. Similarly, a vehicle sounds very close, but infact you're surprised to see it just pop over the horizon. The problem has not been looked at and therefore still exists in ArmA, which is dissappointing to say the least. Has anyone else experienced this difficulty in judging distance by sound?

Steam is 50% good idea, 50% awful implementation.

I found that the Brothers In Arms system was very good.

Hate how Campaign progresses without player input!
