Is Under Hill (RES) even winnable ?

Yeh, I remember that. That was loads of fun getting eight times the normal amount of arty. Like the original amount wasn't dangerous enough!

    Dangerous effects

Not at all. That should learn people (like me for instance ) not to take down choppers with AT-guns.

    Project: Flashpoint

I've already contacted the Royal Marines and it seems as if they will be the final exam. However, that is still a few weeks away so I'm looking forward to the joint-op with GOL that we've planned. Anyway, I'm here to report why there has been no blogging. The simple answer is that there's nothing to report. I've actually been hunting replacements and new cadets the past few days. This is because you can only go that far on a four-man team, as we don't seem to scrounge up anymore than that. That being said, I've found Bravo. He's had computer problems but seems to have fixed it now. I've booted out Zorko for never being on MSN, booted out uWiSH for inactivity and booted out DoGGo because he has computer problems and can't fix them for another 2 weeks - by that time the project will be close to finished anyway. Who the replacements are is hard to... define. They seem to have no problem what-so-ever with the sign-up application but whenever they get on MSN they seem to mysteriously vanish on me, be it in the middle of a conversation or never going online at all. Anyway, I've found two that's certain replacements; LoteZ (whom I've already drilled with basic training) and Punkbuster.

    OFP Updated Wrist Watch

He means the wrist watch in-game. The thingy with the two pointers that tells the time. Comes up when you press T.
  6. I'm not too worried about real-time. Remember the Close Combat-series? Before it turned shite? Now that's high-class strategy for you. This seems to be something of Close Combat meets Combat Mission, and I don't see how they can fail with that combination.

The Forest, BIS and WGL 5.0

Yup, I personally prefer Kammarheit though, as he makes more ambient Dark Ambient than Lustmord. The great thing about Kammarheit is that unless you listen carefully you can hardly tell there's music playing because it just flows right through the background. You can hear Lustmord all the way through so to speak, so it depends on what you want to achieve with the music. But Lustmord or Kammarheit, whatever one choose it's still feckin good for films, missions, whatever. Trivia: Lustmord made the music for the film 28 Days Later.

The Forest, BIS and WGL 5.0

Yeh, that did it. Cheers mate. SPOILERS TO COME OK, now for some comments. I played it (except the last bit) like it should be played. With a surround-sound headset, alone at home and all lights switched off except the computer display. I've played at 1 AM of course as well, can't play this when it's bright outside. At first I was a bit confused because I felt the sounds were coming from all directions and I wandered off in about 20 minutes before I found the first encounter. I'd make the sounds come clearer from the south because I was all over the place and it sort of lost it's charm when you've already seen most of the spooky stuff and you're not even halfway through. I'd remove the guard post tower as it was kind of silly being dragged round on the ground by wolves when you were 3 meters in the air. Finding the woodcutter was fine, that was just me being stupid, so you don't have to change that. Although the drop particles around the ruins puzzled me. Is there any deeper meaning behind these or are they just a cool effect? Because when I was getting desperate I started to follow them and that just made me even more confused. The intro needs some voiceovers otherwise players will lose interest. It's not a bad intro, but it's too slow told to become interested if there's no voiceovers. This goes for the rest of the mission as well, voiceovers are simply vital in these kinds of missions. Another thing, what's with the happy ending? Make the player become cursed, or make him go to court-martial for killing civilians or something. You can't have a happy ending in a horror missions! I thought up loads of other comments when I played but I never wrote them down because that would ruin the game since the atmosphere was so tight. So I'm afraid these few will do. But I am safe to say that this is the only successful OFP-horror mission out there. It's the only one that got my tempature to rise. All other horror missions out there are just bad excuses for shooting something different than Russians. By the way, ever thought about adding music by Lustmord or Kammarheit or some other Dark Ambient-musician? Now that is some scary shit to listen to, and I think it'd add greatly to the mission. Perhaps something in the line of Kammarheit's Asleep and Well Hidden? Seriously, check it out, it'd make the mission so much better. Add me to MSN and I'll help you find something.

The Forest, BIS and WGL 5.0

SPOILERS: Very lovely mission, however I am stuck in the southern woods. I've tried everything to no success. What am I supposed to do? I've explored every corner of the woods and I even tried following the drop-particles but nothing works. Help please?

    The Art thread

I always hated them. I wanted the rules, not pay double price for some pencil drawings. It was expensive enough for a ten year-old as it was! Anyway, back to topic. Would this thread be used for art in general, like still photography, moving photography, flash animations, etc?

    The Middle East part 2

If Israel hadn't attacked none of this would've happened. Or hey, let's stretch as far back as 48. If Israel was never created none of this would've happen. Hey, might as well go back to Moses and stopped him from wandering off with a butt-load of slaves. Then none of this would've happened. Hey, what about the creation of mankind? We'd never had to drag round with this conflict if there was no-one round to use the guns. Saying that a side is 100% wrong is just looking at it linear, and in black-and-white. You think that events occur in a straight line, don't you? I'll never be able to take anyone seriously in a debate that look at the world in such a linear pattern as you. Never. It's like talking to a computer.

I just want to applaude Xawery. Very well thought-out posts and beautifully written. If only I could write like that I'd be active as well. But now I'm mostly reading and not putting my nose in.

    Project: Flashpoint

Thank you for the kind words h3adache. I'm blushing here. Or that could be because I was in Malmö today buying new vinyls, and I've been singing along for all it's worth. (Seriously, I fetched Village People - Go West for a tenner! A tenner! That's like 1 euro! Even Village People is worth that! ) I've selected a wide variety of CS-players. Ranging from the 12 hours a day player to one that just discovered CS a couple of months ago. Ranging from people that has never heard about Flashpoint to h3adache here who has actually played it in SP.

    The Middle East part 2

I see nothing wrong with critic against culture and traditions, that just show that the poster has taken a deeper look into the topic. Most often the answers to political debates are hidden in the culture of the people in question. The reasons are simply much more deep-rooted than "just" politics.

A parking lot? What are they going to do? Steal Israeli cars and park them in Lebanon?

    Armored Traktor

Hmmm, it would be interesting to see some "real" armoured tractors. AFAIK, the first "tanks" were actually tractors with platings on them.

    The Middle East part 2

And I don't think my army has to answer to you, Brigadier General Bernadotte. That's not an appropiate answer in a political debate. At least not in my book.

[CAS] Daniel: That first picture is from the Space Marine Codex right? I was a huge 40ker several years back. Lost interest now though.

    Project: Flashpoint

BenceRAP, I think you have misunderstood the project COMPLETELY. The project was founded to fight back prejudices of CS-players, those kind of prejudices you have just written in your post. Did you actually listen to a single word I said in the audio interview? Anyway, for those that don't know; there's an audio interview with me about the project in the first issue of Tigershark's OFP podcast, Radio Check. Check it out, I listened to it last night and it's great stuff. http://web.mac.com/jvanlint/iWeb/Radio%20Check/Welcome.html

    BI Have Competition?

Haha, a true forum classic mate. Confusing, to say the least.

    BI Have Competition?

Why? I'd rather have Enemy In Sights out on the market than Elite Solder 14: Ãœberkill. It may not be as good as Flashpoint but probably worth checking out. Illusion Softworks has done quite a few excellent games; Mafia, Hidden & Dangerous, Hidden & Dangerous 2, etc. EDIT: What the hell, why'd you edit the post to contradict yourself? EDIT 2: OK, now WHAT? You changed it again? Do you feel great or terrible? Make up your bloody mind mate!
