Huh, the model looks like one of these Headsets that bost hearing protection. Just figured some headsets would have it due to LMG's, but I'm not in the Army so I guess I wouldn't know IRL.

The big twin headsets are for use mostly for signallers or vehicle crews who need to be able to listen to more than 1 net at a time, they provide basically no hearing protection

Hearing protection is generally provided by wearing earplugs

  2. Loving the new TCV/SV's guys!

Just curious is there any plans to be able to roll up the side covers aswel as the rear? It would help massively with SA and be more entertaining for the passengers in the back to be able to observe

Thanks for all your hard work bringing us new and interesting toys!

When you look at the T-series tanks in the garage there's camo schemes listed as 1 thru 5, but they are just solid bright colors like white, blue, etc. What's that about?

I'd say a member of the team has made them for fun ops, or as a training/target practice thing and the decision was made to include them in the full release because why not!

How common it was among US paratroopers to leave the chin strap open? I've been looking some images recently and you rarely see the chin traps fastened (outside of parachuting and training). Of course that might be due the fact that the photos have been taken mostly outside of combat, but on the other hand when you look the pictures of i.e. British paratroopers they tend to have their chin traps fastened all the time. It also seems many people removed the multi-point retention straps, even though to my eyes it looks somewhat more comfortable than the simple two-point straps. To my knowledge, the regular M1 helmet wobbled around a lot and the chin straps didn't always help that, but made it actually feel even more awkward and uncomfortable to some people, so they preferred to leave them unfastened / fasten them over the back rim of the helmet.

If that is the case with M2 helmets too, will we see more a few more variants with open straps / without multi-point retention straps / straps fastened over the back rim of the helmet?

The first generations of M1 helmets didn't include breakaway straps for when a helmet is forced off your head (For example by explosive shockwaves) which resulted in some men having their necks broken/heads blown off

This is the reason most of the images you see of American troops they don't wear their chin straps! (It was fixed quite rapidly but by that time the PR damage had been done and no one wanted to wear chin straps)

Is there an updated class name list?  The web site is a few versions behind.

Better yet, how do we generate classname lists?... if that is something that can be done at the user level.

For equipment equip it at the arsenal and then export to a text file and it will give you the classname

For vehicles open the eden editor and just hover over the vehicle in the asset selection menu and the classname will come up

Any chance of having a variant with a m240 (or other statics) mounted on the back?
I'm sure it's easy to attachTo to get a static on the back, but the animations would be weird because the gunner is seated for a low-mount static, where he should be standing to the side if it were mounted on a vehicle. Would be much better it you could do it as a variant or the vehicle.

Love your work, the amount of effort that you have put in really shows!

    Example:

Oh look its this post again.....

Generally requests are frowned upon on these forums, and if you bothered to read the rest of this thread this has already been requested several times

    Hi Folks,

    RE: 3CB Helicopters AI Control

Been working on some scripts for an airborne assault - came across something - that may or may not be my issue... I can repro without scripts... The Apache will take off and just continue to steady climb indefinitely (at least as long as my patience last) - you can't force it low with flyinHeight - as it just ignores it and continues its perpetual climb... The Merlin's and Wildcat's behave normally... I tested CUP and RHS as well - same issue with Apache - while other helicopters behave fine...

Posted below is a simple mission with my scripts that's not compressed - again - I can do the same without scripts... The Wildcat stays on the deck and the Apache shoots for orbit - albeit - slowly... Same waypoint instructions issued...

Radio Trigger India launches the gunships.

Radio Trigger Juliet issues an RTB for the gunships.

Radio Trigger Alpha launches the slicks on insertion mission.

    Repro Link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0p1ntka6eo407g1/SCO_SctiptTest3cb.Altis.zip?dl=0

Thanks - quite the fantastic bit of kit you have here - much appreciated...

    :f:

    Regards,

    Scott

IIRC This has already been reported earlier in the thread and the 3CB guys have said they have fixed it in their internal version? (I think)

Hello! First of all, I love your mod, quality work :eyeheart:

I don't know if it's on your worklist, but I'd like to request the HUMVEE for the Iraqi and Afghan armed forces, I feel that both forces are missing a main transport vehicle. Our unit mostly uses the RH bone but we would love one with an actual Iraqi/Afghan skin. A cougar MRAP for Iraq would be awesome too.

This last one is less of a request and more of a vague suggestion that may never happen, but the North Korean OPFOR faction would be amazing.

    Project Opfor already adds humvees.....

Hi,just downloaded this today and have been mightily impressed guys at the detail that's gone into this, but I am struggling to get the US forces which are by default put into the ' Independent ' side to battle with the Japs/Germans,......please tell me,am I doing something wrong ?

You need to go into scenario settings and change the independent enemy settings to make sure that they are enemies to the faction the people you want them to fight are in

if you find a way please tell me as well. I do not want my civilians appear with iraqi soldier when mission starts uniforms..

Dont know if it will work but 3CB have a script that randomises the uniforms, the way around is to use vanilla units and just give them 3CB gear

Its more effor but it might work with project opfor but it might be worth a try

When people understand abstract things literally...

As for me - current ArmA modding community like early UNIX community.Everyone want their own stuff with...

No I understood his reference, you obviously don't understand the joke I made

But thats ok, I forgive you

And I agree theres a huge amount of overlap in the Arma modding community, but the nature of modding in your spare time means you work on what you like, and people tend to like similar things

Of cource! Why should we have one big mod with tech adopted to each other and which is sharing the models and other stuff between factions, if we can get 10 mods with 10 versions of M1a1 Abrams but with different count of polygons and large variety of textures of different quality!)))))

The British Army doesn't use M1A1 Abrams.....

Bar a couple of weapons systems theres very little overlap between British and American Armed Forces,

Considering 3CB is already well established and also include alot of their own extras in the mods (Carryable static ammo, logistics features, vehicle variance etc.) It would be a huge amount of work just to make the mods fully compatible with each other

Although one thing I'd love to see is cross compatibility of RHS/3CB magazines, which would make joint operations much easier (I know both are set up to use vanilla 5.56 magazines so they are a good all round, but it would be nice to know everything you had would work in everything you had)

Yes. My only issue is my lack of knowledge with in-game GUI setups, otherwise that would have already been completed a long time ago. Also there isn't a whole lot of documentation on Zeus modules themselves so I'm having to piggyback (to some extent) on other mods to see how the configuration works.

The Achilles zeus expansion has some great multi selection options

I'd suggest having a look at the AI patrol or add items to zeus options as they both have several secondary selections!

    Hope this helps

Something weird happening... Mortar Smoke seems to be clientside. Only the person who fires it can see it and no one else? Anyone else have this issue?

We had an issue recently where no one could see smoke that was fired, we assumed the gunner had missed

    Hey!

Thank you for your reply :)

But it doesn't work. I understand now, its work like cannon and AA. Not like arty.

I try few way but falk36 don't want to shoot with Ace mod actived.

The 88 isn't an artillery piece, its an anti aircraft gun that was also used in a direct fire role as an anti tank gun

Its possible the weapon hasn't been set up for indirect fire

We've been having a long discussion in the pub tonight.  The consensus is that we all think the old wooden benches in the Bedfords are better.

    Long live the park bench!

Uparmoured - probably at some point.  I want to get the basics all done first since a few things are dependant on them.

ROPS sucks but I've never fallen out of the back of a truck fitted with it....

Wish I could say the same for benches though
