The Royal Anglian Gaming Regiment was formed in August of 2014 in order to represent something lacking within the Arma Community, a British Infantry unit that operates as a mechanised fighting force. This means the structure and operation of our unit is based around operating from and within Armoured Fighting Vehicles. We have already conducted several large operations, and are looking for more likeminded people to join our team to ensure we can continue to do so.
The requirements to join our ranks are few: we merely ask you have a mindset to focus on the task at hand when the going becomes tough, learn as you play with us and enjoy your time as a member of this organisation. Whilst most of our members have had experience either within the Army itself, or with organisations that share its organisation, values and goals, we are by no means an ex-forces only organisation. You could be an applicant fresh into the ARMA community looking to broaden your horizons, or you could be one of the Veterans from the time before Arma: Cold War: you would be welcomed into our ranks just the same. Whatever your skill level, we would be happy to accommodate you and help you grow, learn and thrive as a member of this organisation, and the community at large.
Whether you can commit 12 hours a week or simply the 1 we ask for, you are welcome as part of our number. If this sounds like the sort of unit you'd like to be a part of, ping me a PM and I'll send you the details, so you can get on & speak to a member sporting a RAR tag. Also be sure to hop onto our teamspeak! That way, you can start to get to know the community better. We'd be happy to help you in getting your membership sorted, your modifications installed, and you prepared. Remember, we are an organisation that has been forged by like-minded individuals to represent an organisation we are passionate about and wish to see represented properly in the community. If this sounds like your sort of environment, we'd be happy to have you!
At the end of the day, we are all volunteers, who dedicate our time to enjoy ourselves playing Arma in a tactically correct and realistic manner. Whilst we have a rank structure, it is only to ensure that our Operations can be conducted in a coherent manner, we can ensure the day to day running of the unit is smooth, and that training happens on schedule. No one here will throw their rank at you, demand you call them 'Sir', or shout at you for mundane things. We are a relaxed unit when it comes to that sort of thing, unlike a few communities out there! All we ask is one hour of your time a week, in order to ensure you can get to know your section, learn all the necessary skills required to operate as part of that section, and can keep your hand in as an active member of the community. We host operations on a bi-weekly basis, that vary in scope from simple section strength patrols up to Company level Armored offensives, utilising the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank (and a little help from our friends).
We currently have a Platoon of vehicles ready to deploy on Operations, and maintain a vibrant and varied Manoeuvre Support Platoon. This platoon accommodates the skills of Sappers (Combat Engineers), Gunners (operating the 81mm Mortar and other IDF systems) and Signallers (the links in the communications chain), as well as providing an infantry portable Anti-Tank capability. We have already conducted several large operations, and are looking for more likeminded people to join our team to ensure we can continue to do so.
All in all, we hope you consider our MilSim unit as a sound option, and if you are interested - don't hesitate to sign up!
